License tagging for Image:Nickvet419.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Nickvet419.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:07, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Image:Roxanne Modafferi.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Roxanne Modafferi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 02:59, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:LeeShone.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

Image copyright problem with Image:Kings Island construction plans 2009.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kings Island construction plans 2009.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Scrapbook CD cover.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Scrapbook CD cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 23:56, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Planet Snoopy (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Armour Square

Look, the article already clearly explained that the community area and the neighborhood known as Armour Square are two different things.

And just so you know, I actually live in Bridgeport and have for more than a decade and have family and friends in Armour Square. The provincialism is not only readily apparent, unlike the North Side, it lends a lot more weight to defining the neighborhoods here on the South Side. Your credentials as a mapmaker are not only irrelevant in this case, your edits are simply incorrect and on a couple of counts at that:

1. "Stateway Gardens is still defined as a neighborhood" -- regardless of what the mainly empty lots where Stateway Gardens once stood is not the point. That sliver that you're looking at on the map isn't a neighborhood, it's a patch of grass. Stateway Gardens was entirely across the Ryan in a Bronzeville which is in a separate community area. The Dan Ryan is the eastern border of Armour Square, and there was NEVER was any overlap, which is the main point emphasized by sociologists who document Chicago's history of race relations. You're either too young to remember, or have forgotten the Lenard Clark beating (1994) that emphasized the distinct rift, both geographically and culturally between the black neighborhood adjacent Armour Square and the predominantly Italian section of the neighborhood around the area to the north of the ballpark.

2."...that area about colture" I assume you mean culture, and that is not the point of a Wikpedia article to address. The Community areas are well defined borders, and that is what these article are about. Not abstractions. But, in ay case, just in case you don't understand how things work in this part of town we'll look at example #3...

3. "Bridgeport community area borders Armour Square but Bridgeport Neighborhood takes up most of Armour Square Community area". Again you're wrong. The people who live in Armour Square identify themselves as residents of Armour Square, just as people who live in Bridgeport and you'll find they identify themselves as being from Bridgeport, just as those in McKinley Park will do likewise even though Bridgeport may appear to overlap. They'll still say they're from McKinley Park. Ask a Bridgeporter and someone from Armour Square where the ballpark is and they'll tell you that 35th and Shields ain't Bridgeport. I understand what you're saying, but for someone who claims to know what's what, by making these claims you really are showing you don't seem to know very much about this part of town.Ryecatcher773 (talk) 07:25, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

hmm... what an attack? Is that really needed? Is Wikipedia about personal opinions or facts? I think facts. and the fact is... Community areas were created to have defined areas to chart census data of population and demographics and the articles should reflect that. The neighborhoods themselves should have their own articles as they reflect on the culture of the area and are defined by different boundaries. Armour Square is defined by the city as a community area, and people who live there can clearly say they are from Armour Square, yes. As well as people say they are from the Bridgeport community area. That is fine. But the neighborhood boundaries defined by the City of Chicago are different than the community areas. This is why the neighborhood articles should reflect the neighborhood boundaries and the community area articles should reflect census data and the community area boundaries defined by the City.
Not an attack at all. Looking at a map and knowing what's what for what it actually is are two very different things.... something I learned in the Infantry (wink). The articles are about the community areas, not abstracts, which is exactly why the specifics (such as race relations and local opinions) are left out of the article. This is about borders and demographics, as well as a few obviosu factors (e.g Chinatown obviously falls into the Armour Square community area)Ryecatcher773 (talk) 07:50, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
No worries. Just like when I look out my window onto 31st Street, I watch it like a hawk.Ryecatcher773 (talk) 07:52, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

chinatown map

As I have stated on the Chicago project talk page, I don't think there are any hard, official lines for neighborhoods. When I first made that maps, I didn't just wing it, I had a source from somewhere. Either way though, common sense says that my map is a much more accurate representation of the neighborhood than the "official" one. --TorsodogTalk 02:08, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

  • Again, while those may come from official sources, I don't think they are official lines for the neighborhood. The very idea of an official boundary line for a neighborhood is pretty silly, in my opinion. To say that Chinatown Square isn't in Chinatown is just plain wrong. --TorsodogTalk 02:17, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Kings Island

I looked over the recent changes you made on Kings Island. Looks good to me. Creating a 3rd category under Defunct Attractions was a good idea. Since that category is called Attractions however, might want to consider changing the main title of this section to just "Defunct". The spacing for me makes it easier to notice the separation between sections. When a page gets this long, it definitely helps but like you said it's not absolutely necessary. Perhaps at this point, we should move the lists over to a separate Wiki article throwing a link to it on the main KI page? --GoneIn60 (talk) 12:04, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem regarding "Soak City". Feel free to modify the wording/phrasing in that section if you ever feel changes are still needed. My only real concern was keeping it sentence-style as opposed to chart-style. I wasn't trying to be overprotective! I also agree that the article on KI has evolved into one of the best out there on amusement parks, though I may be a little biased! I've been working on Cedar Point and Kings Dominion as well, but both of those still have a long way to go. GoneIn60 (talk) 14:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Edits to Kings Island

Thanks for your contributions to Kings Island. A helpful hint for the future, when making several edits to an article, don't save the page after every edit. Make all of your edits then save it after so the history doesn't list 20 edits from you. --Astros4477 (talk) 13:31, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit-a-thon for Ramona Park

Hello -

I am working with the East Grand Rapids MI Public Library as they embark on a GLAM project. I'm a mid-newbie, which is why I'm reaching out....

East Grand Rapids was the home to Ramona Park and to the Jack Rabbit Derby Racer [1]. As a kick-off project they would like to expand Ramona Park during an edit-a-thon. The Library is home to a local history room - a room filled to the ceiling with memorabilia, photos and artifacts from Ramona Park.

The plan is to upload much of this material via Commons (hopefully before the edit-a-thon on October 19, 2013 - coincidentally during Wikipedia Loves Libraries month).

One problem - there are few locally evident Wikipedia editors to actually show up at the library for an edit-a-thon.

Do you think if we set up a Google hangout, you might be interested enough to remote in? There is a possibility of a cool tee-shirt [2] donated by the library for some, too!

I might be able to provide you/this project with a preview of the historical materials - it seems to me there might be more than one article to create.

Also I've come up with a DYK candidate: Did you know that President Gerald Ford worked at Ramona Park, home to one of three derby racers in the US? (The Ford part is true, not quite sure of the derby racer stat, though!)

Thanks for your consideration, Bdcousineau (talk) 00:08, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Amusement Parks Article Clean-Up

Recently, an issue has been brought up regarding the notability of many articles within WikiProject Amusement Parks. As a result, a page has been created regarding this issue as well as a possible solution (which will be on-going). In a nut-shell, certain articles will be picked to be reviewed in each stage and the WikiProject members (you) will decide if the article should be deleted or kept based on Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

I hoping this will work and if it doesn't, oh well...I tried.

More info can be found on the linked page above.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 21 March 2014 (UTC) Sent by Dom497

Nick, I reverted your recent edits there for a couple reasons. First, an encyclopedia article needs to focus on subject material that is pertinent to the subject. While the "One Team Village" campus is directly related to Kings Island, it's not an essential detail that would make the cut in an academic source such as an encyclopedia. Second, part of the claim says it was built in the old campground overflow location, but the source does not support that claim. Even if you can find a source to back that part, I think it needs to be discussed further on the article's talk page before inclusion. --GoneIn60 (talk) 12:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
