Player Box for Kevin McMahan
Thanks for adding a player box to my entry for Kevin McMahan. However, you had the wrong birthdate and place of birth, giving us the info that actually applied to Mario Williams. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you duplicated Willimas' info in boxes for other 2006 draftees. Anson2995 16:27, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh my bad, Thanks --Phbasketball6 02:53, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Patriots
Hey, thanks for your contributions, although current staff will probably be listed in its own template at the start of the season. However, if you want to propose the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League, feel free. Deckiller 01:39, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
HOF succession box
Hi Phbasketball6 . I noticed you've been adding succession boxes to pro football hall of famers like Earl Campbell and John Hannah over the last few days, but I don't understand why. Those boxes are generally used to house links to articles about the proceeding and succeeding events to make navigation easier. They're useful for going from one year's super bowl to the next, or one year's Heisman winner to the next, but I don't see what purpose they're serving here: there are no articles for individual hall of fame classes, and everyone knows that the class of Class of 1991 comes after the Class of 1990. Would you mind discussing the issue on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League before adding any more boxes? ×Meegs 10:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Coach stubs
I've noticed you've been adding coach stubs, which is great - they're all well-formed. Just letting you know that there's a specific stub category for them now - {{Amfoot-coach-stub}} and that the coach articles go in there now instead of the main bio category. It's new (just added yesterday, in fact) so you might not have known it was there. Crystallina 02:01, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
NFL Player / Coach templates
Thanks for adding date of death to the player template. I see you're also working on the coaches one. I personally think a new one needs to be made from scratch to, among other things, replace fields that are perpetually dated. I know there are a number of people on WikiProject National Football League who would have input if we decided to make one. Let me know if you're interested. ×Meegs 17:32, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- Please watch what you are doing! As far as I know, all of the coach articles' infoboxes are now broken. I am not sure if it is your doing, but as you are the last editor to the {{NFL Coach}} template, I hope you know what to do to fix it! Kareeser|Talk! 02:01, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted all of your (Phbasketball6's) changes to template:NFL Coach since they broke all of the existing instances of it. As I said above, let's talk about any template changes (or about making a new template) on WikiProject National Football League. ×Meegs 02:12, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Meegs. And as for Phbasketball6, I realized that my message may have come off as slightly harsh. No harm meant, I was just concerned as to the welfare of the article. Happy editing! Kareeser|Talk! 02:41, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Listen
Listen. You're making hundreds of edits to nfl players without leaving edit summaries, you're fiddling with Template:Infobox gridiron football person, intermittently breaking the three hundred pages it's included on, and not responding to any of the messages I (or anyone else) have left on your talk page. Could you please be a team-player and participate in discussions on Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League and user talk pages? ×Meegs 21:06, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Sry
Sry if i haven't been responding and making mistakes. PHbasketball6
- Good to talk to you, PHbasketball6. You've got to be really careful with templates, though, in two ways. First, since they affect so many pages, it's a good idea to propose any significan changes before you make them. The template's talk page or the afore-mentioned project talk page are a good place to do it. Second, it you're not sure how your changes will affect the template, you should probably clone it in your template in in your user space and experiment with it there so that all the pages that include it don't get screwed up.
- Don't misunderstand me, though, you've done a lot of good work on articles, and they're most appreciated. ×Meegs 21:28, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
The I highly doubt I have effected the NFL players template, I only added stuff, but I think I messed up the coaches template. Sry
- I won't argue that with you, but certainly I encourage you to discuss your large scale changes, whether they're achieved by changing a template or by hundreds of edits of elbow grease. You should also try to review the pages you make and check for errors, such as broken image syntax (the infobox only accepts the name of the image, sans wiki syntax) and all of those "red links".
- One other thing, User:Arcadian and I have have had some discussions recently about the "Statistics" links in the NFL Player box that might interest you. If it does, take a look at our two talk pages, specifically here, here, and here. The issue is whether there's a more elegant way to display more than one link, and, to a lesser extent, whether more than one link is ever necessary or appropriate. If you have any remedies to the aesthetic problem, please suggest them; otherwise, consider using only one of the five {pfr, databaseFootball, espn, si, nfl.com} external links. In my opinion, databaseFootball is by far the best and more than sufficient for retired players, but whatever you like — even both — is fine. ×Meegs
I agree with you, I think databaseFootball is the best.
- You don't know how long they've been around do you? I just became aware of them a couple of months ago. It's a really impressive for a non-commercialized site, isn't it? If only it had in-season data, it'd be perfect. ×Meegs 22:51, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Images
Hi, you are doing some excellent work on American football bios, but please don't upload images from cites like http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com or ESPN as they are copyvios and those are illigal here. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 22:28, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Ok, sorry i didn't know, but are the images for Dat Nguyen and Hardy Nickerson ok? --Phbasketball6 22:32, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Most images for American Footbll players outhere are copyvios the Hardy Nickerson probaly is but the Dat Nguyen is not really a copyvio and its fair use which is allowed. --Jaranda wat's sup 00:09, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
A good thing you can do is to check for magazine covers of the players you are looking for as those are allowed, and look for images in the players personal websites and tag as promotional. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 00:14, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Would www.sportswarehouse.com be promotional?--Phbasketball6 00:56, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Not so sure about that site, I doubt though --Jaranda wat's sup 04:38, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Is the Brent Alexander image allowed? I don't think I saw copyright right any where on the website I got it from.--Phbasketball6 18:06, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
TIME images

Again copyrighted NFL images
Please read Wikipedia:Publicity photos very carefully before uploading any {{promotional}} images. For example images in nfl.com are copyrighted. feydey 00:06, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Are the photos from http://www.hofplayers.com , ok to use? I didn't see a copyright anywhere. --Phbasketball6 00:59, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- They are copyrighted by default, as virtually everything is (see Wikipedia:Copyrights). Read Wikipedia:Publicity photos very carefully; the definition of promotional images is a bit narrower than Jaranda stated above, though all these HOF images don't meet those requirements either. All of them are going to have to be removed. Please consider going through and tagging them all {{db-unfree}} (see WP:CSD for more info) instead of leaving all of the work for others. There have been numerous discussions of images on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League that might interest you, but the common thread is that there are very few football images on the internet that are suitable for Wikipedia. Ideas about the fair use of magazine covers in articles that aren't about that magazine (or that don't have significant written content about that magazine) are currently in flux too.
- I've said this several times before, but it's usually a good idea to check with others before making changes to a large number of pages. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort. ×Meegs 06:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- You haven't responded to my last message, and have since uploaded another image from http://www.hofplayers.com/. Although they appear to meet the criteria for speedy deletion, I've instead listed all 51 of them in the "fair use claims" section of WP:CP so that you'll have a longer period of time to defend their status as promotional images. And please do. You can put your rationale under my post here. Thanks. ×Meegs 09:51, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
The website http://www.hofplayers.com/ didn't have copyright anywhere and I thought it will be ok to upload the images.--Phbasketball6 14:02, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- From Copyright:
- Under the Berne convention, copyrights for creative works do not have to be asserted or declared, as they are automatically assigned
- U.S.-specific: Once an idea has been reduced to material form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape or a letter), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights.
- Absence of the copyright symbol does not mean that the work is not covered by copyright.

Infobox
Can you make one of your player infoboxes on the Zach Thomas article, in which I'm going to work on later. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 02:57, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that, and also can you do one for Ricky Sanders/Temp. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 02:29, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Quistion, do you know how to create baseball player infoboxes, as I want to see one on Kirby Puckett who sadly died recently, I and other wikipedians will apprichiate it. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 02:07, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
I created 1, I added the new template to Kirby Puckett, but I didn't finish it.--Phbasketball6 03:48, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
One last request for a while, Tom Cousineau a article I just created needs a infobox. Here's [1] can be a image you can use. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 03:41, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
A selfish request
I don't suppose you could create for yourself a userpage, could you? Because when I go through the list of Newly-Created Pages, one of the indicators I use for "possible new user; check all contributions carefully for vandalism/garbage" is a redlink to a userpage.
No big deal, really - just that it would make things a bit easier for me. DS 15:48, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Football cards in player articles
Hi Phbasketball6. Would you mind holding-up on uploading images of football cards (like Image:DavidsonFrontSmall.jpg) until their fair use situation has been clarified? I've started a thread about it at Wikipedia talk:Fair use#Fair use of baseball cards images, and asked a number of people for their opinion, so hopefully it won't take too long. Also note that the question is about whether they qualify for fair use, but you tagged them all {{NoRightsReserved}}, which is not accurate. The copyrights on the images are likely either held by Topps or by the NFL who licensed them to Topps.
Also note that I left you another message this morning, four topics, up about the http://www.hofplayers.com/ images. Thanks. ×Meegs 11:43, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Bob Boyd (football player) has been proposed for deletion. Please review WP:BIO for the guidelines for articles about people. Also, please provide more context. For instance, spell out NFL . Definitely say who he played for. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so and remove the prod notice.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. NickelShoe 03:36, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- FYI: The only reason why Ricky Sanders/Temp exists is that the main Ricky Sanders article is currently listed on Wikipedia:Copyright problems. The temp page is only there for editors to provide an alternative new article that is not a copyright violation. Because the page is only temporary, we generally do not change links on articles from Ricky Sanders to Ricky Sanders/Temp. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 16:24, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

In particular, sports cards are copyrighted and you can't upload them to Wikipedia. The exception is that there is a fair use exception if you are only using them to illustrate an article about the card itself, like the Honus Wagner card or something. Tempshill 20:22, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ditto for the other cards: Image:KempLongFrontSmall.jpg Image:HadlFrontSmall.jpg Image:Griese3DFrontSmall.jpg Image:UpshawFrontSmall.jpg Image:TyrerFrontSmall.jpg Image:1965Topps99Dawson250w.jpg Image:1965Topps136Daniels250w.jpg Image:GinoFrontSmall.jpg Image:CannonFrontSmall.jpg Image:1962Fleer18Atkins.jpg Image:ByrdFront.jpg Image:RonBurton.jpg Image:BurfordFront.jpg Image:Buoniconti.jpg Image:Budde250w.jpg Image:BuckBuchanan.jpg Image:Biletnikoff.jpg Image:VBiggs.jpg Image:Bethea.jpg Image:BBEll1.jpg Image:Arbanas250w.jpg Image:Addison250w.jpg Image:1965Topps1Addison250w.jpg Image:Antwine1Small.jpg Image:1964Topps1Addison.jpg ×Meegs 21:15, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Magazine covers
As I've told you before, the fair use of magazine covers in articles w/o substantial text about the magazine is currently widely debated. Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Ta bu shi da yu 2 might be a good starting point if you're interested in learning about what's going on. You've uploaded 51 Sports Illustrated covers in the last three days. Would you mind putting this project on the back burner until their fair use is a bit clearer? Not only do I not want your efforts to go to waste, but it will also be a lot of work for others should we have to go through a delete them all (as it was for the 20+ cards, and the 50+ images from hofplayers.com). Thanks. ×Meegs 21:46, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
I don't understand, I have thought the magazine covers from Sports Illustrated were allowed. I saw some like John Brodie, which the image of him from sports illustrated was uploaded in January and nothing was done about so thats why I thought they were allowed. --Phbasketball6 23:46, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Walter Payton too!!! --Phbasketball6 23:48, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Right, I've actually uploaded four SIs and a Time (that was deleted). My Time was at least mentioned in the article, but my SIs, like yours, and like John Brodie, are just used as portraits. When I uploaded them I was somewhat ignorant to current interpretations of fair use. Since then, however, the debate has gotten really stirred-up, first by the letter from Time's legal department, an then by Ta bu shi da yu's quick deletion of all their covers. (hold on, real life calls... I'll finish later)
Time images was a problem, but sports illustrated images has are ok for now but it could change. Upload but with caution. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 01:36, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Correct. It's very likely that the other magazines will have the same fate, so if you want to be safe, wait a month or two for things to shake-out; otherwise you're running a high risk of having your efforts wasted. None of this applies to articles that include substantial coverage of the magazine (or particular issue), such as the SI article itself, or an article with coverage analogous to Honus Wagner's section on his baseball card. ×Meegs 03:31, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well not quite the same fate however I am going to orphan them which means they will be deleted in 7 days unless a good fairuse justification is provided.Geni 22:53, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I don't get it! Someone deleted the Steve Young Sports Illustrated cover I have uploaded but of coarse didn't delete the other one ALSO from Sports Illustrated. --Phbasketball6 01:51, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- They can't take care of them all at once because there are only 24 hours in the day. Look, I understand you're frustrated, but reverting good faith edits — like Genidealingwithfairuse's — without discussion is not productive. Believe me, they're not doing this for fun, and they're trying to help the project. You should leave a message on User talk:Geni and explain your case. ×Meegs 02:11, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
I just added a fairuse rationale on Image:Tom cousineau.jpg, better of to create one. --Jaranda wat's sup 02:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Problem is that that is not a legit fairuse rationale. In fact it is a text book example of a flawed rational that comes up when these things are discused on the mailing list and the like.Genidealingwithfairuse 22:15, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Player infobox
Please, before you make any more additions to the NFL info box, would you start a new topic at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League, propose the idea, and request feedback. Arcadian and I have been very deliberate with our additions in the past, and I'd like you to do the same. When we were first planning the infobox, some people expressed that it be kept short and simple, and you've already made quite a few additions unilaterally. Thanks. ×Meegs 02:24, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Sports Illustrated
Please stop uploading Sports Illustrated covers. The way you are using them is not consistant with fair use.Geni 01:20, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Geni, now it's not the right time to use them and leave the orphaned tags, I need to look for a site with free use football images, maybe the U.S. goverment or flicker.? --Jaranda wat's sup 01:54, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
I may do a fairusereview of both the cards and the older sports illustated issues. I'm going to ask Topps if wikipedia can use there 1950s' 60s 70s and 80s images of their sports cards. Just don't upload magazines and don't remove orphaned fair use tags. If I successfully get Topps to use their cards, problem is over but this could take a while though. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 02:18, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Guy Chamberlin
Hey, nice job on the Chamberlin page! You were about a step in front of me in starting it, as I've been tinkering with the Frankford Yellow Jackets (I live 1/2 block from Frankford High Stadium, where they played one game in 1931). Today, I was surprised to find that Wallace Triplett, first African-American to play in the NFL, had no article (imagine Jackie Robinson not being mentioned!). He went to Cheltenham High and Penn State. I haven't been able to find too much on him, except that he still holds a couple of NFL records (since 1949!), based on a single game in which he returned 4 kickoffs for 294 yds. He was still alive as of last year. Can you help? BillFlis 01:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
FYI, it's generally is it not a good idea to clear negative messages from your talk page, especially personally written ones, like these from User:Ta bu shi da yu and User:Zzyzx11. Doing so makes it difficult to for people in the future to know what's been said to you before, and makes it look like you're trying to hide criticism. I strongly suggest that you restore the messages. ×Meegs 03:09, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Darin Erstad
Greetings!
I was wondering why you removed the "punter" category from Darin Erstad's article. Judging by the names listed in the category (Dwight Eddleman, in particular), it doesn't seem like it's restricted only to players who punted in the NFL. So, if major college is indeed good enough, then would Erstad not be an appropriate inclusion, also? Mwelch 05:49, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
No problem. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something myself that would have legitimately disqualified him. I've added him back.
Thanks! Mwelch 20:40, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Promotional images
Hi Phbasketball6. Sorry, but there's no evidence that Image:EarlCampbell.jpg, Image:WillieBrown.jpg, Image:Williamperry.jpg fit the narrow definition of publicity photos. Most photos from players' "official pages" are not. In most cases, the players not only don't own the rights to those photos, but they haven't even licensed the photos for use on their page. Wikipedia is a gigantic organization and has to act more responsibly. Please, in the future, don't use that image tag unless the photos fit Wikipedia:Publicity photos to the letter. Thanks. ×Meegs 08:17, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Why did you revert my edits to that article? SushiGeek 05:27, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
If you are talking about me not putting Steve as a Panther in the 2004 season then it was because he wasn't a panther in the 2004 season, if you read that article from nfl.com about Steve, it says he retired July of 2004 so that doesn't mean he was part of the team in the 2004 season. --Phbasketball6 13:13, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Ok I won'y, but how about 40 Interceptions club or higher (only by 10s)?
Yes, but only add the highest number only to the player article, and do it by 20 instead of 10, better that way like Category:Sixty interseption club. I'm going to try to get the 40 category speedy renamed to Category:Forty interseption club per caps. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 03:46, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Just to let you know you spelled interception wrong, I just don't want you to go though trouble deleting the misspelled 1s. Thanks for helping me out with this--Phbasketball6 03:49, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Infobox request
Can you create a info box on Kenny Easley as I'm planning to work on that article soon. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 02:37, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
linemen and such
Hey there. I see you're subcategorizing the overcrowded linemen categories by position, and that's very cool. One request, though: When you put a player in, say, Category:American football offensive tackles, please remove him from Category:American football offensive linemen. That way, we don't get into a position where we have to have two categories for every player. Thanks, and keep up the good work!--Mike Selinker 16:07, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Abbreviations
Hi Phbasketball. I think it's better that we not abbreviate positions and school names like this. We're a general-purpose encyclopedia, and non-football fans are not familiar with them. Their lines are rarely the widest in the infobox, so I don't see the advantage. There's no debate about USC, though, since to many people — including football fans — it means University of South Carolina. There's been some scattered discussion of this in the past, most recently with regard to draft pages, but we could reopen the issue if you like. ×Meegs 21:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I won't any more thanks for letting me know. --Phbasketball6 21:25, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Do I have to put University for the Colleges like Colgate University or can I hide the University like Colgate. Thanks--Phbasketball6 21:29, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Up to me, I would not shorten most names, but on this, I know there's at least some disagreement. It's generally good to avoid unnecessary piping, and it's less typing too. What follows is purely my opinion, and you're welcome to ignore: University of X and X Univerity go unabbreviated, X State University can become X State, and shorten anything ridiculously long. ×Meegs 22:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and this flexibility only applies to tables and similar structures where brevity can be useful. In article prose, at least for the first occurrence, you should nearly always use the full title of the institution. ×Meegs 22:14, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

I have tagged this as not being fair use of the picture. Do you have an alternate image that could be used? Kevin 07:23, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:0910 large.jpg)
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:0910 large.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
In addition I have tagged the following images as orphaned: Image:1029 large.jpg, Image:0126 large.jpg, Image:0715 large.jpg, and Image:0816 large.jpg. I have also tagged many other covers that are used in the articles about the cover subjects, rather than the publication itself, as improper fair use claims. Thanks. Additional fair use removals which have become orphaned
I have removed all incorrect fair use applications from their articles. This has caused the following images to become orphaned: Image:1219 large.jpg, Image:1217 large.jpg, Image:1216 large.jpg, Image:1218 large.jpg, Image:1213 large.jpg, Image:1211 large.jpg, Image:1203 large.jpg, Image:1130 large.jpg, Image:1129 large.jpg, Image:1125 large.jpg, Image:1123 large.jpg, Image:1122 large.jpg, Image:1119 large.jpg, Image:1110 large.jpg, Image:1109 large.jpg, Image:1106 large.jpg, Image:1102 large.jpg, Image:1101 large.jpg, Image:1024 large.jpg, Image:1023 large.jpg, Image:1018 large.jpg, Image:1016 large.jpg, Image:1012 large.jpg, Image:1011 large.jpg, Image:1007 large.jpg, Image:0923 large.jpg, Image:0922 large.jpg, Image:0909 large.jpg, Image:0902 large.jpg, Image:0710 large.jpg, Image:0708 large.jpg, Image:0129 large.jpg, Image:0123 large.jpg. Hello, I was wondering if you could do me a favor. Can you give a quick look to this article, as give your opion on whwther or not it should be a featured list on the apropriate page? Thanks. --Wizardman 02:52, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I think it should be on the featured list, it is completed - theres no more to add and the references are good. Great job on it! --Phbasketball6 03:48, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Just put that up on Wikipedia:Featured_list_candidates/2004_NFL_Draft and it'll probably be approved, since I'm one support vote short. --Wizardman 04:03, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Football stubs
Hi Phbasketball6! Would you be kind enough to include the {{Amfoot-bio-stub}} on each of the football biography articles you are creating? This will mark them as candidates for expansion. I've tagged a few of them already. Thanks. CPAScott 17:45, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Sure, No problem --Phbasketball6 17:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Ray Flaherty Page
I enjoyed reading your Ray Flaherty page - one of his football teammates from Gonzanga University was Hust Stockton, who also played in the NFL (with the Frankford Yellow Jackets.)[2] This was the grandfather of basketball player John Stockton. The Flahertys and the Stocktons were life-long friends. I've just added an article about my father (Hap Moran) who played with Stockton on the 1926 Yellow Jackets and later with Flaherty on the Giants. A lot of these old-timers were great basketball players too. Revmoran 01:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, that is a great story too. --Phbasketball6 21:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Pottsville Maroons Players
I followed the link you added to the Hap Moran page to the [Pottsville Maroons Players] and tried to edit it to include John McNally who also played for Pottsville in 1928, but I couldn't see how to accomplish that. Revmoran 01:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
You have to go to the player's article and add Category:Pottsville Maroons players|Lastname, FirstName as a category and the name will appear on the list. --Phbasketball6 01:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I see how you did that so if I run across other players I'll update the list. Revmoran 01:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Hap Moran's Son
Are you really Hap Moran's son?! --Phbasketball6 11:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, my father was 46 when I was born, so well past his playing career, but we used to go to the Polo Grounds and watch the Giants practice in the 1950s and I also met some of the men he played with - he was especially close with Steve and Bill Owen. When my dad left the Giants he was given a life-time pass to any NFL game - sorry to say it got lost about thirty years ago - but they would let him sit in the press box or go on the field and when I was really young they'd just pass me in with him. Later the Giants would send us "Clergy Passes" for the home games - which is kind of odd since I grew up to become a "clergy" type. Through my web page I've been in contact with families of a number of Giants players like Morris Badgro, Ken Strong, Ray Flaherty, Chris Cagle, and some from the Yellow Jackets as well. Like my dad, many of these players didn't keep scrapbooks or programs or any material from their playing years - they lived in hotel rooms and and traveled by train all the time and kept it simple. I'm lucky he lived a long life - when he turned 91 the Giants sent a video team up here to interview him because his record run was 91 yards, and they did a pre-game piece out of it. That was a nice moment of recognition for him. Revmoran 14:24, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Its an honor to talk to Hap Moran's son and its great to hear great stories about those players and your father. --Phbasketball6 15:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Discussion of stats categories
Hi Phbasketball6. In case you have not seen on your watchlist, someone has nominated a category that you created, Category:100 receiving touchdown club, for renaming. Some of us think this group would be better represented in a list or article. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 August 17#Category:100 receiving touchdown club. ×Meegs 06:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, no problem, as long as there is a category of that I am still happy. --Phbasketball6 14:35, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Will the other category's I created be deleted? --Phbasketball6 14:37, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Before you, no one suggested that any of the other eight categories (I didn't check, did you create them all?) should be treated separately from Category:100 receiving touchdown club. I suspect — depending on others people's input in the next few days — that all of the categories will be treated the same and either deleted, renamed, or kept are they are. If they are deleted, the names can be made into a list, which, to tell you the truth, has many advantages over the category in these cases. ×Meegs 15:23, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
I've just added like over 10 players on the Category:50 Interception club category should I keep going? --Phbasketball6 15:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
I guess I start to make the list (If I do will that be deleted too?) and yes, I created those categories, pretty embrassing for me, huh, lol --Phbasketball6 15:36, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Can you please help me, I would love to start on the list now, but what should that articles name be? User:Phbasketball6#Articles_to_create this is what I have so far. --Phbasketball6 16:01, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. To tell you the truth, I'm not certain that an article/list specifically about, say, the 200 touchdown club, won't eventually find its way onto WP:AFD. A single article covering all of the most important of these "clubs" might have a chance, though. Someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League might be able to advise you better. User:Bill shannon, who doesn't edit much anymore, started the articles NFL Records (Individual) and NFL Records (Team) in December, so tying-in with them might be a good idea. Those pages are also somewhat problematic, though, as many of the stats are dated. Really, post to to project talk page and ask for advice. It's been pretty quiet over there, but with the season approaching, I image that things will be picking up. ×Meegs 16:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- And no, I don't suggest continuing to fill-up the categories right now, as it is possible that they are going to be deleted. The problem is not that they are incomplete right now; the problem is that we will never be able to promise the reader that they are complete. One of several problems with categories is that they are very hard to monitor since their membership is determined by edits on many different pages. For example, who would notice if a vandal or newbie editor removed Kermit Alexander from the 40 interception cat? You might, if he was on your watch list, but a reader might take the reduced category as the complete set of 40 interception players. ×Meegs 16:37, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Jim Parker
why did you remove the College Football Hall of Fame tag from Jim Parker's infobox? --ChicJanowicz 04:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Oops didn't relize I did that, if u need help with putting the tags on players or/and create the info box to put the tag there, let me know. --Phbasketball6 02:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I just put it back. I was just wondering --ChicJanowicz 08:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you added new information to Charlie Garner — we thank you for doing so, but in order to satisfy our verifiability policy policy, we need to know from which sources you got that information. Just adding a link to the article next to your addition would be all right, or you could put it in the article's discussion page. If you need any help, feel free to ask me at my talk page. Thanks! --Pilotguy (roger that) 16:44, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, I'm sorry I responded late but I thought I didn't think anyone was talking to me because the alert was turned off. I just happened to notice this article. Did you by any chance forget something, like mentioning what team he plays for? ;) Fan-1967 02:13, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
No I didn't because he was cut by the team he was with before the season, and I created this article just in case when a team picks him up. --Phbasketball6 04:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
