Thanks for your interest in this architect. I struggled with whether he was Harold or Howard but settled on the later as that was used by the most authoritative sources, the London Gazette for instance. What is your evidence that he is Harold? Thanks. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:20, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
I've checked the usual sources - including 1901 & 1911 census, FreeBMD, and lots of local Newspapers etc. Definitely Harold. I'm researching his son David Isaac Stratton Davis born 1917 to Harold Stratton Davis and Amy Buckingham Webb - who had married in Wheatenhurst, Gloucester in 1910.
- Thanks. Sorry but I changed it back as you altered the article but didn't give sources for your changes. We write from the published sources which are listed in the references. The firm names for instance were drawn from ref 3. Its problematical when you drop new info in but leave the references the same and they say something else. Can you link any of the sources you used? I couldn't find him in any census returns under either name. What was your source for the date of death 1969? Philafrenzy (talk) 20:28, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Will put in sources - but its all researched properly. Pretty simple with online archives to tell hes Harold not Howard - e.g The 1911 census has him as Harold Strutton Davis in Wheatenhurst, Gloucester. ps - hes noted as Harold in the London Gazette as well...
- The National Heritage List for England has him as Harold as well.[1] No Swan So Fine (talk) 12:09, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- I will take another look later. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:43, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
I have raised this at Talk:Howard Stratton Davis. Nedrutland (talk) 08:50, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
