LessHeard vanU's comment
Hi. Please note that I commented on his comment at User talk:LessHeard vanU#my emails to users. Cheers, User:Jack Merridew a.k.a. David 12:36, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank-you for that. I understand that LHvU wasn't accusing the editors he linked as participating in canvassing, but was more trying to show how that belief could be justified. But I felt it necessary to clarify myself at AN; I have never been canvassed. Seraphim♥ Whipp 12:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hello, I was the person who has a post removed today about the art work used by CC. Am I correct that if I write in a 100% accurate method and refrain from making any conclusions that is fine? For example if I simply stated that Said band had Said album cover from Said artiste that would be fine? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.73.46 (talk) 13:59, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Half the problem is that it wasn't neutrally worded and the other half is that the content you want to write about, has already been covered in the article already :). Re-read the article at the paragraph (in the History section) that begins with "In mid-2008, Crystal Castles became focal in several plagiarism disputes". Seraphim♥Whipp 14:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you Seraphim. Sorry I see what I have done wrong now. I will take more care next time before I post again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.73.46 (talk) 14:08, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Western Digital
Just wanted to point out that the anon user who's comments you removed from the Western Digital article put them back in (just like they did when I removed them). I also received the same threatening comments you did about reporting me to the IRS. Aldmiller (talk) 17:19, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I checked their contribs, nothing was directed at me but they have been very aggressive to someone else. I'm not sure whether it falls into the realm of legal threats, but I'd definitely call it harassment. Seraphim♥Whipp 22:58, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Help
Please forgive me, but I needed to get the attention of an admin. I needed help and I couldn't wait, and still do.Maolain (talk) 23:40, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I am aware of that, and that is why I used my old account that I forgot the password on.Maolain (talk) 23:42, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I think I understand. What help do you need? By the way, you can get help by asking questions at the help desk or by placing {{helpme}} on your talk page. Seraphim♥Whipp 23:45, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- My contribution to the article "James Cook" keeps getting deleted and they keep saying I didn't cite the source, even though I did. The last time it was deleted I even had a textual citation.Maolain (talk) 23:52, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's because the section is rather small and could be incorporated better somewhere else in the article. I moved it to the talk page so other editors (who are more knowledgeable than myself) can give better suggestions as to where it could be placed. I hope that helps. Seraphim♥Whipp 00:09, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I was just wondering, how long do I have to have a wikipedia account to apply to become an admin? It would be great to help out the way you and the others do.Maolain (talk) 00:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's no specific time before you can apply for adminship. However, being an admin is a position of trust and the more community like to see evidence that you are worthy of trust. This can be in the form of your contributions, such as edit count, where edits are spread out amongst diverse areas, doing chores and other admin type work. One such work is tagging articles that meet the speedy deletion criteria with a speedy tag. Also, you will generally be judged on your character and ability to work with others. There are no set criteria, but the community generally does like to see that you understand policies and consensus well.
- For you, my advice is to gain a bit more experience :). There are plenty of ways you can help out people as a non-admin too. Here's an example: Wikipedia:Editor_assistance/Requests. I hope that answer was useful :) Seraphim♥Whipp 00:54, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thank you again.Maolain (talk) 00:56, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Well I can sleep hopefully tonight now. I've main some further changes, notably developing the geo section a bit and the religion. How could an article on Tibet have one line on religion?? I've also added some nicer images and rmeoved some. Its yards better than it was earlier I think but somebody really needs to sit down and write it all properly and reference it and stick to a certain article and block out all of those IPs and POV amateurs who degrade it beyond belief. Main problem for me is accuracy and reliable referenced. Oh people do show their appreciation every now and again, I think I have nearly 50 barnstars LOL but I see what you mean that many editors aren't aware of the work I do. I've seen you about also doin' good. Best regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:21, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Rfb participation thanks
Hello, SW.
I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support, and keep up the great admin work! -- Avi (talk) 16:24, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I regret not expanding on my support. By the time I was ready to expand on my reasons for support, those things had already been said by others who had supported. Given your thoughtfulness, peaceful temperament, excellent judgement (and good humour to boot!), I think you'd make an excellent crat. I hope this result doesn't deter you from reapplying in the future. Seraphim♥Whipp 16:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Grateful
Thanks, I appreciate that. I usually ignore Angie's incivility and defensiveness, because she's not really held in high regard in terms of her edits (not that I am, but you know what I mean), and she often has the maturity level of a peapod; she's basically 21 going on 12. Often her barbs are not worth replying to because my edits are not done out of spite (I'd do the same thing if it were Angelo Y.), and I want to avoid a fight, plus she restricts her vitriol to her own talk page. If she gets too personal, though, I'll definitely take your advice. Take care. Beemer69 03:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Removing backlinks to MusicOMH.com
Hi, please could you put a hold on this for a while - MusicOMH.com is, in fact, a notable and well regarded independent UK music review site and I am trying to get the article reinstated. Many thanks. Jud (talk) 02:35, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's nothing to put a hold on; it's already done. Removing backlinks from deleted articles is standard process. I did happen to see the article before it got deleted, and as it was, it didn't pass WP:WEB. Hopefully you can get it to satisfy those criteria. Good luck. Seraphim♥Whipp 08:23, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Links to reviews on www.the-fly.co.uk removed.
Hello.
You removed a number of links to album reviews by IP 82.45.134.210, me, a short while ago. You cited "External Link spam", the article on which states that "What should be linked" includes "4. Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews." As all my links were to reviews I fail to see how your actions are justified, please advise.
Many thanks

- Semi, the only protection against spam bots. I don't set an expiry because move protection would then expire. I generally move the protection down within 2-3 hours. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:43, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your swift reply. In that case I ask you to read the discussion I linked to above. The reference desks are high-frequency pages and there is usually someone hanging about monitoring them, reverting spam, vandalism, and other niceties. There are strong sentiments against semi-protection, however. ---Sluzzelin talk 11:54, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I have been paying attention to that discussion. With respect to the ref deskers, it doesn't really matter if there are people there to revert because it's a bot. It will continue to post repetitively, making the page unusable for everyone. I have started a section on AN/I about this. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:58, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, sorry for possibly coming across as presumptuous (and worrying ;). Yes, my concerns about semi-protection were genuine and they remain, but I now see they have been addressed and acknowledged, and your semi-protection was prompted by something I don't understand anyway, so I'll leave it at that. ---Sluzzelin talk 13:37, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- It was prompted by a robot (using rotating IP addresses) continually blanking the page and adding spam links at a rate that would be too fast for a human to compete with (by reverting). I'm honestly not a big fan of semi-ing any of the ref desks either, but there are occasions where too much collateral damage would be caused by not protecting i.e. frustrated editors who can't reply to questions because the page gets repeatedly blanked, frustrated and confused readers who don't understand why their question is gone, repetitive edit conflicts etc. I think we may have a way of dealing with it better in the future (15 minute protections) and there are other solutions in consideration. I'm sorry I didn't explain the situation better to begin with! You are always welcome to come and discuss my admin actions here :). Seraphim♥Whipp 13:56, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Damn, you're quick.
Thanks for fixing up that bit on WP:ANI. I was trying to clean up after that anon vandal, but you got the section restored faster than I could. :) — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 11:48, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, no problem. I was probably fast because I was edit conflicted about 9 times trying to add a new section :P. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Ref Desk
Hi. Would be good to get your thoughts on this, assuming that you haven't already commented by the time I leave this note! Cheers TigerShark (talk) 11:56, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, I'm participating there :). Seraphim♥Whipp 12:05, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. Can I have your go ahead to unprotect it briefly and see what happens? Thanks TigerShark (talk) 12:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Course (I know you've already done it but I did say go for it on AN/I :) ). Perhaps short 15 minute protects will be effective...? Seraphim♥Whipp 12:41, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back. Busy little bee, aren't you? Sceptre (talk) 12:18, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I know! And I have a nasty chest infection! Seraphim♥Whipp 12:26, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- That's a non-sequitur - unless Wikipedia helps with the chest infection (and hey, it might do - it's helped me ignore physical pain before). Btw, emailzors :) Sceptre (talk) 12:28, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not quite, I meant that a chest infection can't keep me away :P. I'm driving myself mad with all the coughing...and I almost choked on a frickin' strepsil last night lol. Seraphim♥Whipp 12:31, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection discussion
Hi. I see that my comment was quite vague. I wasn't implying that you're lazy - I know that you've done a lot to try and solve this problem. I was merely pointing out that there are people who are prepared to revert by hand. Apologies for the misunderstanding. Zain Ebrahim (talk) 12:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- *Waves hand*, nothing to apologise about :). We all just want what's best for the ref desks. I equally didn't mean to imply that you were calling me lazy! I was trying to say that us admins aren't implementing protection lightly, we're trying other stuff too :). Seraphim♥Whipp 13:02, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for being cool about it. Hopefully we can sort this out soon. Cheers, Zain Ebrahim (talk) 13:43, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Can you check over the Crystal Castles page for POV? The controversy section got heavily changed, and seeing as you're more of an expert thna I am :) Sceptre (talk) 11:49, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Reverted back to a version that wasn't white washed... Geez, seems some fans will do anything to protect their beloved band, without sticking to the actual facts of the situation. Seraphim♥Whipp 12:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I for one, wouldn't remove the classification "emo" from DCFC or Bright Eyes' articles, because to be frank, while I love both, they kinda are (in the emotional sense, not the "stop my breathing and slit my throat" sense.) Though I do play old-skool Nintendo :P Sceptre (talk) 13:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

An unregistered user removed the Prod notice without any explanation why on the talk page, so I restored it. Please take everything into consideration before you issue blanket warnings. --Zpb52 (talk) 11:50, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter who removes a prod and no reason has to be provided. Please understand this and don't revert prods in the future. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:53, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes (he says as he bows before the almighty administrator). --Zpb52 (talk) 12:06, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, by the way, think that might have been vandalism? Did you notice the entire infobox had also been deleted? Methinks the Prod notice should stay, but I'll go ahead and nominate it for AFD. I think you admins should evaluate the situation before issuing rulings on things. --Zpb52 (talk) 12:10, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes (he says as he bows before the almighty administrator). --Zpb52 (talk) 12:06, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- You can have that attitude if you want *shrugs*. I'm not "telling you off", I'm telling you so that you can improve as a contributor. Besides which, I did evaluate the situation fully. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have known that you reverted someone's removal of the prod. Seraphim♥Whipp 12:11, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

No, I think the hook is now too long. Also, I'm a little uncomfortable with the word "murdered" since it could be seen as POV. Gatoclass (talk) 12:36, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Good points. Before I changed it, it came across a bit unclear on who killed her child. I initially thought it meant that she was responsible. Seraphim♥Whipp 12:41, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I've tweaked the language. It now comes in at 179 characters. Seraphim♥Whipp 12:48, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- That looks better. I must admit I had a lot of problems with the hook myself. It's such a gruesome story one doesn't know what to put in and what to leave out. Thanks for helping out with it. Gatoclass (talk) 13:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I noticed it when I caught the word "gruesome" in your edit summary. Definitely a tricky one! Seraphim♥Whipp 13:05, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

- Do the moving thing. GFDL is conserved more :) Sceptre (talk) 14:15, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not really. As long as everyone's comments are attributed to their names, all is good. Plus moving this page might screw the server's for a minute or two :). Seraphim♥Whipp 15:00, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Seeing as you beautifully wrote the Hot Chip pages, want to help me on sandboxing an article? User:Sceptre/I Can't Decide is there if you do. :) Sceptre (talk) 17:05, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks but I think I'll give that one a miss after reading the lyrics, which are more depressing than is good for me. Seraphim♥Whipp 17:46, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's called lyrical dissonance; where the lyrics are depressing when the music is cheery, or vice-versa. It happens again on "Intermission", same album (which are, funnily enough, listed on that page). Think how cheery "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is :) Sceptre (talk) 18:02, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Damn, sorry to see you're frustrated (even so that you can tell it in your edits). Come back soon. Sceptre (talk) 19:32, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Note
You do realize of course per User:Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles#Nice comments other contributors said about or in support of me.21 that I don't dislike you? In AfDs and DRVs, I only want to actually discuss with people rather than just have a vote, which is what a list of one sentence delete and keeps is, a vote. In a discussion, I believe that in order to reach a consensus, we have to actually discuss and be willing to change our stances, which you hopefully recall I did at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Seraphim Whipp#Oppose. Should I have been offended that others engaged me there or refused to reply to them and explain my stance? Should I have dug in and kept my original stance rather than allow others to persuade me? When I attempt to convince others to change their stance in AfDs based on the discovery of new sources or improvements to the articles, I am not asking them to do anything that I myself am unwilling to do per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/F.C. Prabis. Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 19:00, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- How is "It does have wikipedic value" a good start to a discussion? It's stating your opinion. Discussions with you always go one way: you repeatedly assert that whoever your talking to has the wrong opinion because they don't agree with you. It comes across as if you're trying to make things go your own way, and in the process treating your fellow wikipedians as if their opinion is worthless. I find that soooo frustrating. People do have differences in opinion, try and respect that. If you wanted to ask if I had any other reasons for deletion, you could just ask.
- My rfa has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand. I'm really not fussed with what people think of me. Seraphim♥Whipp 19:08, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
