This is my current talk page. Feel free to leave your comment here! I will reply to you on YOUR talk page.

Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, SergeantBolt, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

I came to greet you as well. Welcome to Esperanza. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but Wp is no myspace, and your user page looks awful in decent browsers due to all the broken HTML in here. I hope I've not offended you, but instead give you something to consider. Again, welcome. --Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves/Saoshyant talk / contribs 15:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

(copying message from my talkpage): Hello, Elonka. I have been pondering this for a while now, and I was wondering if you would object to me submitting an RfA for you - you are a wonderful user! SergeantBolt (t,c) 14:43, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the vote of confidence! And I may take you up on this, as I've definitely been pondering adminship for awhile now. However, I'm also in discussion with a couple other people about such a nomination, though I don't know whether they actually have time to process a proper one at the moment. So, would it be alright with you if I checked with them first, and then I'll get back to you? Also, have you ever done an RfA nomination before, yourself? --Elonka 10:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, Elonka, I have not subitted an RfA before however I understand the process perfectly after watching so many. You need not be worried! And yes, that's fine - it can wait! SergeantBolt (t,c) 21:32, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding! I did go ahead and check with the other individual, but he said that he's going to be busy with other things for the next few weeks. Or in other words, yes, I thank you for your offer and would be glad to accept your nomination. Let's go ahead and do this! :) --Elonka 07:23, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you again for the nomination. Though the majority of respondents in the discussion were in support, in the end, it was not deemed to be sufficient to prove consensus, and the nomination was unsuccessful. I do, however, very much appreciate the time that you invested in the nomination process, and found the discussion very worthwhile and instructive. Thanks again! --Elonka 06:41, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm wondering if...

[edit]

I've read on your user page that you are a part-time writer. I've been working on a novel myself for quite a while, though not fan fiction. I had an idea recently, because I'm not a good writer and a few years ago I was even worse. I decided I'd apply an open source model to my own work, where volunteers would be able to see how my novel would be up to, and then submit small modifications, improvements, or rewriting what reads bad. Either like a wiki, or maybe a SVN like what's used on computer code.

Anyhow, why am I telling you all this? Because I haven't been able to kickstart this project yet, and my attempt to recruit volunteers on my website didn't work at all. So, I'm wondering if you'd like to help out. Feel free to reply either through talk page, or e-mail.--Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves/Saoshyant talk / contribs 13:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. No problem. That's pretty understandable. However, if you think you know someone that would like to help, I'd appreciate if you could contact him/her.
[edit]

Hi, you can use the following syntax to generate imdb links for actors

{{imdb name|id="the number after the nm in the IMDB url"|name="Name of Actor"}}

so e.g. for the Alex Sabga Article

{{imdb name|id=1073578|name=Alex Sabga}}

produces the result :

Alex Sabga at IMDb, which is the preferred way of including these links

Hope you find this useful. exolon 18:36, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken your suggestions to heart about how to improve the Sydney Roosters article by adding in about half a dozen new references. Hopefully if you feel this is more than satisfactory (as it should be), you might want to reconsider changing your vote in this article's candidature for featured status. There are just a few more days left in the FAC and if you feel that it's good enough to be passed, then now is the time to change your vote or add further suggestions. Thanks, and all the best, --mdmanser 08:41, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Thanks for uploading Image:TomikoLee.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 02:43, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flashes before your eyes

[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering why you deleted a whole bunch of trivia facts from this Lost episode article. People put effort into writing these facts, and you just deleted them without discussing on a talk page. It is called *TRIVIA* for a reason, and while some of it may be trivial, I think it is improper to just delete so many trivia facts. Who are you to judge what is "non-sensical"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elb2000 (talkcontribs) 02:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

SergeantBolt, I have to echo a concern here. It's one thing to delete random comments/vandalism by anon editors, and another to delete good faith additions from established Wikipedians. For example, you deleted some trivia that I added, with an edit summary of "completely irrelevant."[1] Even if you disagree about whether some information is appropriate for the article, can you please try to ratchet the civility up a notch? Thanks. --Elonka 18:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation! I agree, you've got an excellent reputation, and your actions were very perplexing to me. I'm glad it's resolved now though. :) --Elonka 18:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation, but why did you remove the Trivia about Tricia Takanawa from Family Guy???Elb2000 10:32, 4 March 2007 (UTC)elb2000[reply]
Oh whoops, my mistake...It was removed by a non-registered user, and I have now added it back. Sorry for the confusion.Elb2000 18:47, 4 March 2007 (UTC)elb2000[reply]

An editor has nominated Untitled 16th episode of Lost season 3, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Untitled 16th episode of Lost season 3 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit]

Hi, I don't want to clutter your page with ugly templates, but I'd like to let you know that Image:MichaelGiacchino.jpg is a replaceable image, and therefore not fair use. It will be deleted unless (with all due respect and God will it doesn't happen) he dies or becomes totally disfigured beyond photographic capacity. ALTON .ıl 08:13, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your continued support in my most recent RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holiday season and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great new year, --Elonka 07:25, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Band of Brothers episodes, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Band of Brothers episodes has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Band of Brothers episodes, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Orphaned non-free media (Image:StephenSemel.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:StephenSemel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Jennifer Johnson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —S Marshall Talk/Cont 17:16, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Barbara Vidinha-Tyler

[edit]

The article Barbara Vidinha-Tyler has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

roles listed fail to show notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello SergeantBolt! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 232 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

File permission problem with File:TVQuick.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TVQuick.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:39, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
