References
[edit]Per discussion, remember all articles need to show significant coverage in independent reliable sources (WP:RS).
How references work |
---|
Simple references[edit]These require two parts;
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
== References == {{reflist}} (an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections) To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Steved1973/reftest and try it out. Named references[edit]Chzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook"> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/> Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result. Citation templates[edit]You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look; Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4 }} </ref> Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result. For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs. |

[edit]Just to let you know I didnt think the pd-text logo was appropriate as it contains a crown which is not a simply geometric shape. I have changed it to pd-BritishGov, thanks. MilborneOne (talk)
This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Shopwatch, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.havantdistrict.co.uk/?p=902.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) MadmanBot (talk) 14:06, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Shopwatch
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Shopwatch requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.havantdistrict.co.uk/?p=902. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DES (talk) 01:03, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Kevin Rutherford (talk) 23:49, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Removing speedy deletion templates
[edit]Hi there. I noticed that with this edit and this edit, you removed a speedy deletion template from an article you created yourself. I just wanted to let you know that you are normally not allowed to remove speedy deletion templates from pages that you created; you may only contest them by offering a rebuttal on the talk page for administrator consideration (and it looks like you did for both of them). Since both of the edits were made almost half a month ago and you offered a convincing rebuttal, I will not restore the deletion tags, but please bear this point in mind while editing Wikipedia in the future. For more information about Wikipedia's speedy deletion process, see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Best regards, Mz7 (talk) 02:26, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Homeward Bound (song), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Charles (talk) 08:59, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Widnes. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Charles (talk) 14:16, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm sorry Charles, I don't follow what you mean. The content I added shows that Widnes station IS NOT on the line to London. Why would Paul Simon be stood on a platform to catch a train on the wrong line? Ditton station is on the line to London and thus the correct station to catch a train to that destination. Surly this makes sense. Steved1973 (talk) 14:43, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
