Do you have to have an article on such a subject as Suicide? What you are doing is putting such ideas into the minds of people who are probably contemplating such an action. If someone commits suicide after reading your web page you will be held directly responsible. Remember that !

comment on a user

Hi, I have noticed that you have awarded a barnstar to User:Rohitde. So, I thought that I should leave a comment, especially since you are an admin. Rohitde created the page Maneka Gandhi and it was a clear copyvio from 1. By the time I noticed it, the article was expanded by other users and hence it was OK. I had placed a query on the user's talkpage but he blanked it. I noticed it recently and with some suspicion, I just checked his earliest recent edits. His recent article, Martha Fineman is a clear copyvio and I've listed it on the copyvios page. His work on the Hindu law is again a straight rip-off from several copyrighted sources - I've listed the same on Talk:Hindu law and would wait for a couple of days before reverting his edits. I've again left a query on his talk page and he has replied to let me know that he typically does copy-paste but later edits the material to make it appear non-copyvio. I've my doubts though and it is dangerous to allow this. Probably you may find more such instances from his other contribs as well. just thought that I shd inform you --Gurubrahma 07:09, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Before the investigation Update- Re. Martha Fineman and Hindu Law Just a few clarifications, my understanding might be wrong but I thought. 1)Copyright laws do not apply to factual information. For instance stating that Lawrence Summers is the President of Harvard cannot be copyrighted. 2) Neither is listing out publications made 3) Textual copyright is one of the hardest to apply. Modifications to a large extent dilute charges of copyright, which include taking from multiple sources or reorganisation. I can dredge up caselaw if you like --Rohitde

This of course may not conform to wikipolicies, so would appreciate feedback

Cool! utcursch | talk 13:09, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi Utcursch, I noted that you had merged the article but I reverted it as I had indicated on Talk:Gulzar that I'd wait till 20th for comments before merging. While it is obvious that the merge is a no-brainer, the creator of the article may insist that this be retained and Gulzar be made a redirect and so on. Hence, I typically give a week's notice before carrying out the merger. Since you hv reverted my edits back to the merged status and since I've already reverted your edits before, I'll let things remain as they are (as it is merged twice now ;-)) but just wanted to leave you a note so that you may want to see the discussion on merges before carrying out the merger. Thanks, --Gurubrahma 13:49, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Problem with another nutjob with the Tajiks page

Check out the history and the talkback page for the Tajiks article for details and you'll see what I mean. Perhaps this page could be protected or something?

In general, I'm wondering why at some point articles (that have covered virtually everything possible and have a high risk of vandalism) can't be locked to avoid continuous vandalism? Perhaps you guys could use more administrators to enforce, but I was thinking that a concensus view to lock articles would greatly help with contentious issues relegated to the talk back pages. Tombseye 19:20, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Can anything be done about the guy who is the vandal possibly? He's a freakin' loony from the looks of his history statements. Here's what he's said so far:

Removed dirty name of Pakistan from article. Tajiks are NOT primarily found in Pakiland Of course the article only says they are found in Pakistan in addition to their main places of residence. His personal views are irrelevent obviously.

The dirty name of Pakistan does not belong to this article Oh great now he wants to rewrite reality.

Here are two of his IP addresses from the history of postings from the article:

172.202.200.111

172.213.9.139

This guy so needs to be disciplined in a bad way. Tombseye 21:52, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Oh and thanks for suggesting to have the article protected. Done and taken care of. Thanks and take care. Tombseye 22:00, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

William Connolley brakes his parole

William M. Connolley reverted the article of the lomborg whitout any explanation or any note in the talk pages. This constitutes a violation of his parole[1]. Normaly I wouldn't have made a issue of it, but WMC has been pushing NPOV so agressively and is not open for reason. I expect that the appropriate action is taken.--MichaelSirks 19:10, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/India Today's top 10 colleges of India

My vote on this could be swayed, but the whole "I am from India and I say that this isn't systemic bias" thing is not going to work for me. Convince me that these articles are a waste of time and I will change my vote and vote delete on the others, too. Until then, however, I still vote keep on grounds of systemic bias. Also, good luck on finals, I know they can be a bitch. Youngamerican 13:34, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Wiki Definitions

Hi! Thanks for your new user welcome (a while back).

There are some non-existent (red) links which seem to call more for definitions than articles, even brief ones (because there are good specialized links out there). I have a vague notion that there is a WP place for such items and that it is fact poor practice to make articles out of definitions. Is so, no? Can you point me to a how-to? Thanks, Halcatalyst 01:09, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Also... Timeouts

Do the WP servers time out when I login, forcing me to log in again? (For all I know, it could be in my system, Win XP). Halcatalyst 01:09, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Misdirected Questions

Hmmmm... over the past few months I have become acquainted with much of WP, but it seems I missed the place where one can ask WP-technical questions directly. Will do so.

Hi anyway! Halcatalyst 01:23, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Sources for Maithili Sharan Gupt

Hello, sometime ago you added a fair bit of content to Maithili Sharan Gupt. As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's accuracy and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to created them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other places you learnt the information that you added to Maithili Sharan Gupt? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 15:34, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Complaints about "Scampia"

Sorry if I ask, Utcursch (What the hell means this name?)... ARE YOU CRAZY? Don't you think the article you wrote about Scampia is not that professional? It is written in a way that could be offending for the people who live there (not all criminals!). I think that article must be cancelled or completely rewritten. Moreover, saying it is worse than American ghettos... --151.100.3.173 10:11, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
