Persian Empire

[edit]

Based on seeing your comment on the Persian Empire talk page here, you might want to participate in the Talk:Persian Empire#Straw Poll to voice your opinion to help determine what kind of page it should be returned as. Those pushing for a redirect said there was not a clear consensus on the matter, which caused a lot of problems and an ANI thread. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:25, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Mousavi - Architecture 1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mousavi - Architecture 1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:26, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Esfahan Shah Sq.jpg

[edit]

File:Esfahan Shah Sq.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Esfahan Shah Sq.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Esfahan Shah Sq.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 08:07, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect redirected categories

[edit]

I noticed you redirected two "Persian" categories to "Iranian" ones. Please be informed that this is incorrect. Persia existed before Iran did. There is a large "Persia" category structure on Wikipedia, and rightfully so. Debresser (talk) 18:27, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation at 1953 Iranian coup d'état

[edit]

A request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning 1953 Iranian coup d'état has been filed with the Mediation Committee (MedCom). You have been named as a party in this request. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/1953 Iranian coup d'état and then indicate in the "Party agreement" section whether you would agree to participate in the mediation or not.

Mediation is a process where a group of editors in disagreement over matters of article content are guided through discussing the issues of the dispute (and towards developing a resolution) by an uninvolved editor experienced with handling disputes (the mediator). The process is voluntary and is designed for parties who disagree in good faith and who share a common desire to resolve their differences. Further information on the MedCom is at Wikipedia:Mediation Committee; the policy the Committee will work by whilst handling your dispute is at Wikipedia:Mediation Committee/Policy; further information on Wikipedia's policy on resolving disagreements is at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes.

If you would be willing to participate in the mediation of this dispute but wish for its scope to be adjusted then you may propose on the case talk page amendments or additions to the list of issues to be mediated. Any queries or concerns that you have may be directed to an active mediator of the Committee or by e-mailing the MedCom's private mailing list (click here for details).

Please indicate on the case page your agreement to participate in the mediation within seven days of the request's submission.

Thank you, Binksternet (talk) Binksternet (talk) 00:17, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For your information

[edit]

Dear Wayiran, you may have noticed the deletion tag on this page. Insofar as I am aware, almost all, if not all, of the photographs on the latter page are due to User:Pournick who has since some time been blocked for good from Wikipedia; there is therefore no one who would take care of these photographs, some of which are very interesting. Would you be so kind as to bring these photographs to the attention of the people who might be able to find some natural home for them in Wikipedia? At present I have not much time to spend on Wikipedia work, so that I myself will not be able to do anything useful with the photographs. These photographs might prove very useful for use in Persian Wikipedia. With kind regards, --BF 02:14, 30 April 2010 (UTC).[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.presstv.ir/textonly/detail.aspx?id=99268&sectionid=351020108. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:38, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=99268&sectionid=351020108, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under allowance license, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! VernoWhitney (talk) 13:32, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:10, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category renaming

[edit]

It appears that you tried to rename Category:Lists of software extensions by redirecting it to Category:Lists of software add-ons. This is not how category renaming works on Wikipedia; you need to propose a category renaming or merging on WP:CFD. Thanks for your contributions. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:09, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Last month you added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [1]). I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. I'm removing a lot of similar references as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 20:16, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
