This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Satguru Hari Singh, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.sikh-heritage.co.uk/gurus/Hari%20Singh/satHarisingh.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Articles

[edit]

Articles must not contain copy and pasted text from other websites, please write articles yourself with your own words. Additionally, please write articles with a proper introduction to indicate the subject's significance. Please also note that multiple copy violations will result with a removal of editing privileges, and considering you are determined to edit, I wouldn't want that to happen. To learn more about editing, I strongly suggest visiting your welcome links especially Wikipedia:Writing better articles and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. The content that you are adding to Jalandhar is copy and pasted from various pages of http://jalandhar.nic.in. That content is copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia. You must write things in your own words. If you have any questions regarding copyright, feel free to ask here, and I'll do my best to help. However, if you continue to re-add the copyrighted content, you will be blocked from editing. This is an issue that Wikipedia takes very seriously. Please consider this your final warning, as you've had plenty of them. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 14:51, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, by no means do I want to see you get blocked. Wikipedia needs as many good-faith contributors as it can get. With that being said, copyright violations are a very serious issue. If you don't understand what it is that you're doing wrong, please let me (or anyone else here) know, and I'm sure we can work it out. Just, please stop copy and pasting content from other sources and pasting it into Wikipedia, or the only remaining solution will be a block. Thanks. December 2012

Hello WildMaria, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Gsingh (talk) 16:29, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Fut.Perf. 17:26, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
