The Open History: Queens and Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon was held on Friday December 6, 2013 at Queens Library Central Library's Archive located in Jamaica, Queens.
The Queens Library, Wikimedia NYC, and the Metropolitan New York Library Council had an all-day Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon and public training event on Friday, December 6th at the Queens Library Central Branch. The event focused on Queens History, Queens historical figures, the Queens Library System, and the special topics covered in the Queens Archives.
Folders full of research and information about special topics in the Queens Library Archives helped us to get started writing and editing Wikipedia articles about Queens and Wikipedians on site to provided basic and advanced training on editing articles and working with images.
This event is part of Wikipedia Takes America and Wiki Loves Libraries and the Wikipedia:GLAM/QueensLibrary project.

- -ColonelHenry (talk) 02:46, 3 December 2013 (UTC) I'm not really interested in edit-a-thons. Meetups for dinner, coffee, conversation, or a game of cricket, yes. But sitting in a room in a group edit just doesn't appeal to me.--ColonelHenry (talk) 02:46, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Ugh! I just came back up to NYC & LI in Mid-November 2013, and there's no way I'll be back there for at least several months. Which is too bad, because I had my eye set on some sites in Jamaica, eastern Queens, and even Brooklyn that I wanted to get pictures of. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 04:33, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

- Would really love to have been, but between a social engagement in the evening and the lingering transportation issues I'd have to deal with, I don't think I can make it. Daniel Case (talk) 13:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Last eight days of the fall semester here at CUNY. — Robert Greer (talk) 15:06, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
