The Holocaust in Bohemia and Moravia resulted in the deportation, dispossession, and murder of most of the pre-World War II population of Jews in the Czech lands that were annexed by Nazi Germany between 1939 and 1945. From the pre-war population of 118,310 some 30,000 Jews managed to emigrate. Most of the remaining Jews were deported to other Nazi-controlled territories, starting in October 1939 as part of the Nisko Plan. In October 1941, mass deportations of Protectorate Jews began. Beginning in November 1941, the transports departed for Theresienstadt Ghetto in the Protectorate which was a stopping-point before deportation to other ghettos, extermination camps, and other killing sites. About 80,000 Jews from Bohemia and Moravia were murdered in the Holocaust. After the war, many Jews faced obstacles in regaining their property and pressure to assimilate into the Czech majority. Most Jews emigrated; a few were deported as part of the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia. (Full article...)

250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart
[edit]This event is coming up on the 27 January 2006 - the press is already covering it (BBC at least) and I expect things will be happening all around the world. Anyone object to me adding it to Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/January 27? --Oldak Quill 22:56, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Re Wikipedia_talk:Selected_anniversaries#Selected_births_and_deaths, this might belong at In the News instead. I've added it to Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page/Candidates. Melchoir 05:32, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

- Addendum: Siege of Leningrad added for Main Page balance (and the 70th anniversary). Normally it appears on September 8, but Leningrad-Novgorod Strategic Offensive is ineligible due to empty sections. —howcheng {chat} 04:22, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Siege of Leningrad
[edit]The Siege of Leningrad is listed as ineligible due to "already featured on September 8", but according to talk, it last appeared on that date two years ago (and it looks like the lifting fact didn't make it to On this day before). Could we place the lifting of the siege this time due to the 70th anniversary? Brandmeistertalk 23:19, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- The 70th anniversary of the start of the siege was included in 2011. The columns do look unbalanced to me right now, so sure, let's put that in. —howcheng {chat} 04:12, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

- Not done: as stated in several notices, to report an error on the Main Page, please see WP:ERRORS. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:48, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- And it's a completely different "Unigenitus" anyway, as the article itself and the hidden comment that you have copied and pasted here make clear. BencherliteTalk 21:07, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
