Request for verification of Thai language used

Could someone who knows Thai verify a recent change to the Thailand section of the Hate speech article? See Talk:Hate speech for details? Thanks, --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 14:33, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

You have Talkback there. Collectively. And I wish you good luck... Peridon (talk) 15:57, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).

Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.

If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:30, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Help

Hi, Can anybody help to me translate this surname "Chamswad" to Thai ? also is there any other English transliteration for this surname ? thanks in advance. Mohsen1248 (talk) 16:49, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

The answer to your first question would be แช่มสวัสดิ์. Spellings can vary greatly from person to person, so I'd venture a yes on the second. Following the RTGS it would be "Chaemsawat". No doubt there are other spellings still. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:51, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. I really appreciate it. actually I was looking to find a complete name of a Thai Equestrian athlete, only listed as C. Chamswad in official reports. after your help I googled it and I found "เฉลิมฉาน แช่มสวัสดิ์". Can you translate the given name? The answer google translator gives me doesn't look accurate. again thanks in advance. Mohsen1248 (talk) 19:24, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
I could only find one instance of เฉลิมฉาน แช่มสวัสดิ์ via Google, at http://www.vrhorseman.com/halloffame.php. I guess this is the page you're referring to. He now appears, I think, to be known as Chalermcharn Yotviriyapanit (เฉลิมฉาน ยศวิริยะพาณิชย์) or Tor Chalermcharn (nickname + given name). --Paul_012 (talk) 13:55, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, It was really helpful. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:54, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Thai province borders

I've just come across this edit to Sakon Nakhon Province, which claimed that it borders Bueng Kan Province; this was reverted by a vandalism fighter because of the IP's other edits. However, the article on Bueng Kan claims that it borders Sakon Nakhon, while the Sakon Nakhon article does not make the converse claim. Could somebody sort out this discrepancy? Thanks! Graham87 10:20, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

The provinces do share borders. I've reverted the reversion. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:27, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Thailand At Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Temple identification

Sawatdee ka! Can anyone please help me identify this temple? File:UnknownTemple1.jpg Name of temple? Is there an article about it? I may have more photos, please let me know if you would be interested in working with me. Thank you! USchick (talk) 01:41, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

@USchick: Directly under the line on that plate is the name - Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan (วัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหาร), the main temple of Phitsanulok. andy (talk) 07:33, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Awesome! Thanks a lot! USchick (talk) 07:41, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Pleas add information about this country to this articles.--Kaiyr (talk) 14:21, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Upon seeing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Saint John Mary International School I found editors were unable to find reliable sources on this school. Does anyone know if the Bangkok Post has written articles on it?

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bantoon Lamsam looks like a simple acceptance or a simple decline. But I cannot judge. Help, please. Fiddle Faddle 15:38, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with reviewing AfCs, but he is clearly notable, if that is the concern. --Paul_012 (talk) 16:28, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Translation request

Please help translate the following text into Thai:

Please do not contribute text in Thai to English Wikipedia. Your contributions are more than welcome at the Thai Wikipedia.

It will be used for a warning template at Template:Not English.– Gilliam (talk) 10:29, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Are you referring to Template:Not English itself, or the various Contrib-xx1 user-warning templates in the See also section? --Paul_012 (talk) 21:55, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
Yes the translation will be added to see also section, at Template:contrib-th1- – Gilliam (talk) 01:03, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
I can't think of a way to directly translate the given text without it reading awkwardly. I came up with "ขอบคุณที่เพิ่มเนื้อหาให้วิกิพีเดีย แต่นี่คือวิกิพีเดียภาษาอังกฤษ ซึ่งไม่สามารถใช้เนื้อหาภาษาไทยได้ ท่านสามารถเพิ่มเนื้อหาในภาษาไทยได้ที่วิกิพีเดียภาษาไทย". Translating back into English it would be "Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, this is the English Wikipedia, which cannot accept Thai text. You may make contributions in Thai at the Thai Wikipedia." --Paul_012 (talk) 07:26, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much! Please look over the new template at Template:Contrib-th1.– Gilliam (talk) 07:52, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
