Blue SWAT

I'm looking for someone who is rather familiar with Blue SWAT to identify a couple presumed-to-be Blue SWAT monsters that appeared in episode #52 of B-Fighter. The two monsters are [1] and [2]. Thanks JPG-GR (talk) 05:56, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Countdown to Destruction merge discussion

There is a discussion whether Countdown to Destruction should be merged to the List of Power Rangers in Space episodes here. Please comment whether you should keep or merge the article to the episode list. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 20:41, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Power Rangers villains list up for deletion

I just noticed that List of Power Rangers villains was deleted after this AfD, for which there was no notice here. As of December 17, Villains in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is also up for AfD. So I figure I'll leave a notice here of this AfD, since no one else has. Powergate92Talk 17:14, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

I've put List of Power Rangers villains up at WP:DRV. The discussion can be found at WP:DRV#List of Power Rangers villains. Figure someone should be notifying people.—Ryulong (琉竜) 00:28, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

List of Power Rangers villains is at AFD, again. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Power Rangers villains (2nd nomination).—Ryulong (琉竜) 08:25, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Merge project

In case no one's been paying attention, it's clear that we have some issues with the articles in the Power Rangers side of the project. Therefore, we must start to eliminate the practice (within Power Rangers pages at least) of having separate pages for the Power Rangers and the "Evil Space Aliens" for each season. The Zordon era pages are going to be problematic to work with seeing as you ahve Power Rangers going across seasons, so I am proposing that we start with taking Galaxy Power Rangers and Villains in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy to merge them together into a single List of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy characters page. The same should be done for everything following. I'm not sure what to do with the individual Zord lists but they will likely have to go to, if not being reduced to single mentions on the Zord page and not having individual pages on each seasons' Zords with unnecessarily lengthy entries on each Zord and Megazord.—Ryulong (琉竜) 06:42, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Definitely agreed on merging all a season's characters into a single article. Would have to see what merged zord article(s) look like before giving any further opinion on those. JPG-GR (talk) 01:59, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Agreed aswell.Lucia Black (talk) 22:26, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
On the Zords, I don't think we need anything beyond a simple list of the Zords and Megazords and formations found within each series. We certainly don't need whole sections to describe them, just as the arsenal sections on each PR page was prior.—Ryulong (琉竜) 03:57, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Kamen Rider/Masked Rider

So everything from before Decade was universally referred to as "Masked Rider" in the English context of all of their newer toys and during the promotion of Decade. This can be seen on products such as the S.H. Figuarts such asthis one for Hibiki, BLACK RX, and V3, while W onward are "Kamen Rider" such as this one for Wizard and this one for Accel. Some more various examples: Hibiki Kurenai & Todoroki, Decade Violent Emotion, another Hibiki, Faiz.

The only one that falls into a grey area is Decade because it's called "Masked Rider" on its toys but the movie with Double had him called "Kamen Rider Decade". So it still stands, should we change everything to the English language form of "Masked Rider" for everythin prior to Kamen Rider W? Calling it "Kamen Rider" for everything before KRW is simply the fandom's doing anyway.—Ryulong (琉竜) 15:35, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Suit actors

From now on, no more listing every single god damn suit actor. It's trivia. These people do not have their faces shown on screen, and stunt actors elsewhere in the world do not get this kind of coverage. So much attention is paid to them and barely any of them have articles on the English Wikipedia, nor do those articles even meet the notability standards.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 06:23, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet for Wikiproject Tokusatsu at Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Kamen Rider awful cast lists

I have been directed by User:Ryulong to post here. I probably should have posted here first, but I didn't know about this wikiproject, and I thought my edits made sense so long as I was consistent with all the articles. Anyway, oversight on my part, and Ryulong has since reverted all my edits. See Ryulong's talk page for our discussion.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but all the Kamen Rider articles have awful formatting. One aspect I have been focusing on is the cast lists, which all take this form:

Firstly the {{nihongo}} useage is excessive for a cast list. The cast lists are messy and near unintelligible with both character and actor having nihongo templates.

Secondly, WP:REDNOT states:

"Red links to personal names should be avoided—particularly when the name is reported in a context which might cause readers to hold a low or critical opinion of the named individual. Frequently a red-linked name has been placed in an article, and subsequently a different editor has created an article about an entirely different person with the same or a similar name. Aside from the basic misidentification this causes, red-linking has led to people being incorrectly identified on Wikipedia as accused or convicted criminals, sex workers, or being involved in other forms of conduct that might be considered harmful to the subject's reputation. The risk of misidentification is especially concerning when dealing with living people."

therefore Redlinks of BLPs should be removed. However, WP:MOS-JA states:

...interwiki linking may be used to supplement red links

So my interpretation is that if an actor doesn't have an en.wiki article, an interwiki link can be used. For those unfamiliar with interlanguage wiki links, they take several forms, but the one I am interested in is the {{link-interwiki}} template.

This template temporarily displays a link to a non-English Wikipedia article, while the corresponding English-language Wikipedia article is lacking ("a red link"). The red link is explicitly shown, followed by the non-English link. Once the English article is created, the non-English link won't be shown.

Here is an example of this template: "Issei Masamune [ja]". And here is an example of this template when the en.wiki article already exists: "Hiroshi Fujioka". As you can see, the ja.wiki link is not shown when the en.wiki article exists. This means you can link to the ja.wiki article, while still accounting for a future en.wiki article. If you don't use interwiki links, then you would have to delete the redlinks completely as indicated above.

My request
  1. Remove the nihongo of the actors in Cast lists
  2. Remove the nihongo of the characters in Cast lists
  3. Change the redlinks of the actors to interlanguage wiki links using the {{link-interwiki}} template
    • Or just remove these redlinks completely as is advised by WP:REDNOT.
  4. (extra) Change the Cast list format to "Such-and-Such as Whatsisface" rather than "Whatsisface: Such-and-Such" (which is somewhat ambiguous as to who is the character and who is the actor).

In order to be consistent, this format would be applied to all Karmen Rider articles. I am of course willing to accomplish this myself, I was already working methodically through the articles before Ryulong reverted me. In my edits, I didn't remove the nihongo of the characters, since most characters don't have their own article to show this information, and I wasn't sure I could justify deleting it. —Msmarmalade (talk) 09:16, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Removing the templates for the cast and characters section is advisable seeing as we shouldn't be keeping such information when the character lists and presumably other articles exist for these people. I do not however agree with the use of the link-interwiki template or removing the red links altogether. These people are all notable for having appeared in these television shows, and other shows, in Japan so they should get articles locally at some point. WP:REDNOT is not a requirement by any means.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 20:07, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok, it's been a while and I was wondering if anyone else had some input? I'm willing to completely ignore the redlinks for now (although I strongly advise they be removed as per WP:REDNOT). Unless anyone else has any objections, I'm going to start changing the format of the cast lists to "Actor A as Character A" format, thereby removing nihongo templates.—Msmarmalade (talk) 06:15, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok, gonna start now—Msmarmalade (talk) 05:26, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Power Rangers characters titles

Shouldn't the articles about the individual characters follow a "Jason (Power Rangers)" format instead of their current full name? Even their actual articles refer to them by their first names rather than as biographies (surnames). It also looks like many of these articles should be merged to lists... czar  18:24, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Gamera movie articles

Having procured the Showa/Heisei Mill Creek set, I've been working on fleshing the plot out on the Gamera movie articles. Thus far, I've found gross inaccuracies in the original film and Gamera vs. Barugon. I'm also not talking dai-fan level stuff (like "Gamera's 50.2223 m tall, not 50.2222m tall in the first film"); I mean inaccurate to the point of having things happen at the wrong point in the film, or have things in the film happen that simply don't occur. I'm going to keep working through the films, but it's obviously going to take some time. All that being said, do we know if maybe these summaries have been written off the MST3K appearances?

Secondarily, what I did notice is that there's very little background on either Gamera in general or the first Gamera film other than that it was a competitor to Godzilla. There should be more, so does anyone know of any good sources to flesh out a lot of the character and film background out? I could also use help tying Japanese actors' names in cast lists to their articles - we're weak on them anyway, and I'd prefer to not have to go through all of it myself.

I could also use a quick clarification on cats - Gamera was in sci-fi, fantasy, Japanese, kaiju, monster, and giant monster movie cats. I removed fantasy, because it's clearly sci-fi, and added tokusatsu (which should have been there) but it would seem that kaiju, giant monster, and monster have some overlap. Should they all be on there, or is there some subcatting to cut down the overcat that I should be aware of? MSJapan (talk) 02:41, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
