Flupentixol/melitracen (trade name Frenxit, Placida, Deanxit, Anxidreg, Danxipress) is a combination of two psychoactive agents flupentixol (a typical antipsychotic drug of the thioxanthene class) and melitracen, a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) which has antidepressant properties. It is designed for short term usage only. It is produced by Lundbeck.[1]
Flupentixol/melitracen were banned in India by the country's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on July 11, 2014, after the government noted it was not approved for marketing in several developed markets including the United States, UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, or even in its country of origin, Denmark.[2] Lundbeck plans to take legal action to have the ban lifted.[3] It is being marketed in China, Taiwan, Thailand and a few European countries.[4]
