Speedy deletion of Information risk management[edit]

A tag has been placed on Information risk management requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TOL (talk) 17:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Uganda[edit]

Hi. Yes I know but the idea is that they are given much more detailed for ecomomic studies of the country which would bloat the main template. See Template:Economy of Ghana for an idea of how it is likely to progress. The templates I created are only initial creations. The idea is that I aim at building detailed economic related content for each of the african countries over time and adding missing articles to all of the templates by country, It is an important task but also a heavy one, any help building up the templates with more links and starting the articles is more than welcome! Ideas towards case studies I want to see written are in artixles like Coffee production in Costa Rica and Pineapple production in Côte d'Ivoire etc to have specific encyclopedia articles studying their industries in detail. Given that a vast proportion of the population are often employed in such industries I think they are important ones, The Bald One White cat 16:01, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Tongaat Hulett Sugar[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tongaat Hulett Sugar, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Article makes no assertion of notability; listing on a stock exchange is not enough to establish notability on its own

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Why thank you[edit]

Very kind of you to notice - although I helped by whining publicly about districts during your deletion review :). I've seen your great work around the Cambodian articles and in many article histories as well. I think the addition of the district codes is an excellent idea. I love what you did with Odong district (I was married in that district incidentally). Over the last few nights I've finished the districts of Prey Veng Province Kampot Province, Kampong Speu Province and started on Kep. Pursat Province I did some time ago. From memory, only Kampong Speu and the two Kep khans had some missing district codes - if you could put them in that would be excellent! (you may have done it already). I started creating the district articles slowly about a year and a half ago - starting in Pursat. Blofeld then took over in his usual manic style and finished them off in about two days! I'm trying to go back over them gradually adding:

  1. A district infobox
  2. A consistent lead sentence containing the full name bolded plus a sentence locating each district roughly within Cambodia
  3. The name in Khmer script twice, once in the infobox title and once with a Khmer language template in the lead sentence
  4. The 1998 population, number of communes and villages with a reference in the infobox
  5. A references section
  6. Accurate geo-co-ordinates nailed to the title and taken from the district office

Once I'm done with that, I may go back over them and add a location subheading and paragraph (with ref) and one or two paragraphs on some interesting aspect of the district (with ref). You can see Bakan District or any of the Pursat Province district articles for examples.

My long term 'secret' project is to add a photograph to each district article to brighten them up. I have 10-20 already which I need to crop and upload to commons. This entails a bit of travelling, when I have the time. So the project will definitely take me a while :) Still, I love travelling around Cambodia and taking photos so the task is not so horrible at that. I'm also planning to add some more to Phnom Penh Commercial Bank shortly, it would be very satisfying to get a recent CSD article on the front page... Cheers, Paxse (talk) 13:03, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Cambodia's great slow beating heart? My heart says yes - my cynical wikidrama antenna says someone may complain - but do it anyway! Cheers, Paxse (talk) 17:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Also yes. Away with accents, diacritics and other odd fluffery! Mind you renaming the main Tonle Sap article will be a pain - suggest it on talk first. A Cambodian naming convention guideline under the WP:MOS country styles is also on my to-do list, one day :P Paxse (talk) 17:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

You crazy Blofeldesque stub creator![edit]

"Stung" means "River" in Khmer! One river in the title is enough. Rename, rename! :) Paxse (talk) 17:26, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh and one more thing. Do me a favour? Don't create Stung Pursat :) I've been gathering sources (and photographs) to put that up on DYK for months. You're doing a great job! cheers, Paxse (talk) 17:36, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
My apologies - I didn't have those rivers on my watchlist and thought you'd created them. Great work on the government ministries by the way. You'll have to leave the business suit behind and come over for a visit someday. It's a beautiful country. Paxse (talk) 19:00, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Blanking categories[edit]

Hi, Mr Accountable. Please don't blank energy categories even if there is only one entry. If as a rule the category just for one or few entries is not necessary, there are some exceptions. In case these categories are parts of series, there may only one entry. They are serve for multidimensional categorization. Power companies categories you blanked are example of that kind series categories. Thank you.Beagel (talk) 04:43, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

As I said, they are a part of series and serves multidimensional categorization. As a part of power companies by country, Power companies of Vietnam makes a sense. For rationale, please see also discussion.Beagel (talk) 04:56, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

If you wish to delete (or empty) categories like Category:Food companies of Zimbabwe take it to WP:CFD. Please revert the changes you made to empty this category. Based on the above, your actions may well be considered vandalism. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:23, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

You're doing a great job...[edit]

... sorting out the Cambodian category mayhem. I suspect you may be the first person (ever) to attempt order rather than adding to the chaos. I'd be happy to photograph some ministries for you. I'll set up a photo request section later at the wikiproject and we can list the articles that need them there. Incidentally, your CSD article Phnom Penh Commercial Bank will shortly be on the front page - congratulations! Cheers, Paxse (talk) 18:56, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

See this diff for the explanation [1]. The nomination was accepted and the article is now in Queue 5 Template:Did you know/Queue/5. Won't go live for a while due to the backlog - but well done! Cheers, Paxse (talk) 19:09, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
You're very welcome. You can take SBI Group. I'm planning to get Phnom Voar on the front page :) Paxse (talk) 19:22, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
If you can add another 800 characters to SBI Group I can try to get it on the front page too? Paxse (talk) 16:15, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
For example, Phnom Voar minus the infobox, references and external links is just over the 1500 character limit (4 short paragraphs). Busy with work and family this week, not much time for wiki :( Cheers, Paxse (talk) 18:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Mr Accountable. You have new messages at Berean Hunter's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the Talkback or Tb template.

Sara Vietnam[edit]

A tag has been placed on Sara Vietnam, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add hangon on the top of Sara Vietnam and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. AndrewHowse (talk) 15:37, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Sara Vietnam[edit]

I have nominated Sara Vietnam, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sara Vietnam. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.  Frank  |  talk  17:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Assertion of notability[edit]

Replied at my talk in order to keep the thread together. --AndrewHowse (talk) 18:19, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

If...[edit]

You are indeed starting new sets of categories for the Indonesian region

  • (1)it would be appreciated if you could also spend the time to tag the project on the talk page of the categories so that we can keep a tab of them - untagged cats are problematic
  • (2)please make sure that there is sufficient scope for the categories to be populated - just because an island groups exists does not necessarily mean that a category has to be created
  • (3)please make sure the parent category is on the main page - otherwise speedy delete people will be after your tail :) - thank you
    • (3a) Some items are becoming overcategorised with parent and child categories appearing on same page - where possible please help prune

back to the required amount and no duplication if possible

  • (4)I do not wish to detract your enthusiasm - many areas of the Indonesia project need much more careful management overall - and with so few eds involved - but if you are creating cats with only 2 or 3 articles linked - the issue arises that we get followup 'populate this cat' tags - and there may be that there simply not the nominal 20+ articles to link with a category....

SatuSuro 00:39, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Min and Max[edit]

The thing about cats is that they get underpopulated tags for under 5 items - and depending upon their linkages with other categories - some can stay empty without the - tags - others dont. If you are not au fait with WP:CFD and WP:Category - worth a check. I personally (and I am not telling you to do so) would not create geographically tight/narrow/categories - and would tend to leave them sitting in larger categroy groups until there is enough to populate at a reasonable rate (20 or more). As for limits or numbers to fend of CFD issues - 20 has been a suggested minimum in a number of projects. I can see the temptation and the eagerness to create categories around some topics - I did so for the sunda strait and krakatoa recently - and they are both still well under developed as categories at this stage. There are subtle nuances as to where some categories make sense and where they dont - I dont think islands of the straits of malacca should have been created if there were only a few arts - I would have left it in strait of malacca - but hey as to find some golden rule carved in stone - might as well have another drink and pass the crisps/chips etc etc- gawd this is only wikipedia :( SatuSuro 10:15, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

If you are not sure - have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islands_of_Indonesia at least SatuSuro

I am sorry to badger - there are too many small items to really take issue with - if you read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Bengawan_Solo_River - the idea of having a category named after the article is ignoring a naming issue which the average indonesian reader would think we are crazy :( - river solo river ? - it should have been Solo River - cheers SatuSuro 15:00, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

I am very very sorry if I have put you off - please understand my focus has been obsessive about trying to keep an almost 5,000 article project from falling prey to most project issues - and I have failed all of the targets I have tried to work with - please do not take my word for it all SatuSuro 22:36, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Next session[edit]

Hey you are so damned tolerant of my msgs - some would have told me to get lost by now - thanks for your agf.

    • Ok - as I have said I dont agree with islands of malacca against one article which is btw a very bad case of not a cite in sight. :( i would have left that one out
    • Also I dont agree with the overlapping parent cat with child cat in the maluku arts - if you have maluku islands - you dont have maluku as well -and if we look at kai - which has maluku and maluku islands and islands and archipleagoes - to me that should be halved in pruning - just maluku islands, and archipelagoes - I see no purpose in overlapping islands with archipelagoes - even if they are in fact that.
    • 2 I was thinking of trying to adjust the items in Category:Provinces of Indonesia so that Category:Riau, for instance, might be changed over to Category:Riau Province.
For what purpose? - the big issues with something like that it would have to go to the CFD / move process - and really - the issue is the precedent of naming issues - my aging brain cannot cope but if you are up with it - try loking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Good_Olfactory/CFR very closely before even thinking about it any further - if necessary have a chat with him as well! If he was in support of such a change (which I dont agree with at first glimpse) I would in principle go with his experience and capacity to check usage and precedents etc (even if I dont agree with all that he implements... but hey he lives in new zealand now and I have been tagging NZ categories slowly but surely for their project :( )

My issue is that the simpler the title of the category the better for the Indonesia project - only add extra words if it is the issue of disambigatuation is what I have seen for a long time as naming criteria by those who are much better than me at it

    • Well, do any of those issues have to do with corporations, infrastructure, government and/or commerce of Indonesia? How about Fishing Port of Jakarta or organizations from this list at Portworld, Indonesia as topics?
I am not a 100% sure of the question - is this about naming stubs, creating stubs, getting the info onto wikipedia - or what?

BTW those two lists are brilliant - most of those separate identities i think should be incorporated into wherever there are existing articles relate directly to those authorities - and only location articles - as I do not think the authorities/whatever should be in separate articles.

as always thanks for putting up with me - cheers SatuSuro 04:27, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh well thats where we have a diff - I dont think that over-catting and accomodating variation of titles of place names beyond a certain point is a good idea - I can see your argument - and no doubt it has a certain utility as you point out - but in the end the usage of wikipedia as a massive gazzetteer with cross referencing of name variants built in to categories, articles and content is to me something that is short of what i thought wikipedia's main aim - online gazzetteers, gps databases might carry that - but I thought it was an encyclopedia SatuSuro 04:47, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I think i almost lost you in the last post at my talk page

If you create an article that there is no local town to tie in, the next thing is to look at the subdividisions in indonesia - and work out either the regency, the province - and simply go to the next up to where something exists - but hey I am simply another ed here - not the answer - I'd say if you have any dea go ahead - but if i disagree with anything im prepared to throw in my 2 cents - but in the end i would say any idea of massive changes need to go first to admin ole factory for opinion - and if it is all in the Indonesian project - put it up there - you might get a comment or two to gauge your idea - cheers SatuSuro 05:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

A thorough read of the sub cats of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Subdivisions_of_Indonesia might be a good checkindevice of what is involved SatuSuro 05:12, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Sihanoukville Autonomous Port[edit]

Nice article. If I have time (busy with work right now) I'll try to expand over the next few days. I bought a book on the history of Sihanoukville recently to use as a source to get the main province article up to GA status (one day!). It should have some good stuff on the port in there - I haven't read it yet. I'm on a mission to expand one district article per day at the moment and get them on the front page. Paxse (talk) 04:48, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I can't see how collaborative editing could be against the Cup rules - please tell me more! I'm toast in the cup anyway, but still having fun competing. Paxse (talk) 05:05, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Same thread, another day, sigh...[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Indonesian_ports&action=history might be something to fix up - in a way it would be a good way to sort the authorities perhaps? The sad edit history is the clever bunnies putting links to the region/area - when they should be grey and the adding red link locations, sigh SatuSuro 03:45, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey thanks for that - as for daunting non english sources - nah it can be solved - so thanks for the new art - it was needed - cheers SatuSuro 05:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

No need to apologise...[edit]

... I have enough ennui to cope with minor political geography. Besides we are volunteers. If it ceases to be fun, stop doing it immediately and move onto something pleasant. I'm having a great deal of fun slowly working my way through the districts with no timetable (and blessedly no arguments and interference!). Currently, I'm aiming to de-stub each of the 16 Kampong Cham districts and have them appear briefly on the front page. I think your work on the ports (and banks and ministries and companies and...) is wonderful as these are areas I would not have got to for a long time. Absolutely nothing to apologise for. I enjoy your edits, your feedback, your questions and your comments - please continue all of the above. My book on Sihanoukville is serendipitously on the history of the port itself - as the town grew up around the port rather than vice versa. I started reading it last night. Therefore, I have enough information for at least a GA on Sihanoukville (and the port) at least. I will expand the port article to DYK standards and submit it today. With your permission I will share the credit as the 'expander' of your new article. Cheers, and very happy editing (and a great weekend) from Paxse (talk) 09:34, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Coffee[edit]

Hi. Thanks. Well there is a Wikipedia:WikiProject Agriculture which would cover all of this. I am very interested in building case studies on relative crops on here. Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:51, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Category:Hadhramaut Governate[edit]

I think a single speedy deletion tag would be sufficient. A category G7 usually get administrator action within 24 hours.

I'm not convinced that this category qualifies for deletion under C2 because as far as I can tell it never went through the speedy rename process. For instance, it was never tagged with cfr-speedy.

Re:Somaliland, Somalia, piracy and Category Horn of Africa[edit]

Hi. First let me thank you for your efforts in categorizing the Somali-related pages. It's much-needed. I also don't question your motives; I'm sure you meant well. It's just that Wikipedia has been increasingly targeted of late by the Somaliland-is-an-independent-country crowd (see this indefinitely blocked user's comments, for example), and listing the enclave of Somaliland alongside its parent country of Somalia in the Horn of Africa category only creates the impression that the former is an independent country in its own right when of course its nothing more than a secessionist region. Doing so also emboldens said editors to make other similar edits asserting an 'independent' Somaliland and whatnot. I hope you understand. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 06:57, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for understanding. Middayexpress (talk) 23:03, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Interesting and useful navbox, cat, & series of articles. I'll try and see what I can do in the next few days about an article for the Somali Port Authority. There isn't much info on it to be found, but I'll do my best. Middayexpress (talk) 02:38, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

PAS[edit]

Done, our second joint DYK should be along in a few days. Sorry for not getting back to answer your question. I'm not married to the idea of a port infobox - just thought it helped fill out the article a little. Whether the port and the operator should have separate articles is a good question. Probably, since we aren't a paper encyclopaedia. Since PAS brought out the Phnom Penh dry port they probably deserve their own article (and both ports need one as well) - not the hideous mixed up mixture I've now made of your single article! Hope your Sunday is/was a very pleasant one. Cheers Paxse (talk) 17:32, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

It really sounds like another world (though not an unpleasant one). I've always imagined Boston to be beautiful. On the other side of our small planet, in 15 days time, the first trial of the senior leaders of the Khmer Rouge will finally begin. February 17th, 2009 will be a historic day in Cambodia. Thirty years, 1 month and 10 days after the fall of Democratic Kampuchea, they're finally going to start bringing these bastards (and one bitch) to trial! So we both have something to look forward to :) Cheers and keep very well, Paxse (talk) 17:56, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes I was looking to rid of the silly Asian building stubs category -mission accomplished anyway. Hey I see it was I who first welcomed you to wiki, can't believe it was well over a work ago. Thanks Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:58, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Germama River[edit]

I removed the category because Category:Awash River is a subcategory of Category:Rivers of Ethiopia. I had thought that was your motivation for creating the Awash River category. -- llywrch (talk) 06:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Well I think it's redundant, but it's not worth the trouble to edit war over -- assuming that any topic is worth edit warring over. -- llywrch (talk) 07:14, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Re:Solo River[edit]

OK, no problem. The name of this river is a bit confusing. Meursault2004 (talk) 10:09, 3 February 2009 (UTC) My sincerest apologies for not actually talking here to let you know what was going on re solo river - btw - very impressed by your port - work - keep it up! Chandar Mohan[edit]

What a fascinating politician - I'm glad you saved him. I'm two districts (and 90 edits) behind my personal DYK goal at the moment (one district on the front page per day). If I can catch up with that backlog, I'll have look at your Indian Lothario and see of we can get him on the front page. There is enough dirt on him for several articles! Cheers, Paxse (talk) 14:34, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Sihanoukville Autonomous Port[edit]

Updated DYK query On February 6, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Proposal for new Manual of Style for Thailand-related articles[edit]

A drafted new version of the Manual of Style for Thailand-related articles has been started here. Still at issue are specific naming conventions for Thai royals and nobles and settlements. As a member of WikiProject Thailand, you are welcome to contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Thailand#Updating the Manual of Style (part 2). Idea for Vietnamese company article[edit]

Hi! What do you think about collaborating on an article for the Vinh Quang Model Company of Vietnam? They make some pretty nice radio controlled model aircraft and they have major support in the US from Global Hobby. Just a thought; I've been tossing the idea about for awhile now. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:30, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Hai Ha Confectionery[edit]

A tag has been placed on Hai Ha Confectionery, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. §FreeRangeFrog 04:31, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Wow, I see what you mean. I read that article soon after you posted it; I thought it was fine. An article on Vinh Quang Model might actually fly (no pun intended) given the worldwide distribution of the products. The company website isn't that great and there isn't much history to go on. All fairly promotional in nature, no real historical references. I have a contact at Global Hobby who may be able to help. Good luck on Hai Ha. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:21, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Category:Companies based in Hanoi[edit]

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding to articles/categories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with db-author.

Best regards,--Stepheng3 (talk) 21:42, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

WP:User page[edit]

The section "List" has nothing to do with what the user page is used for. I suggest you read WP:User page, and read what you can do, and what you can't on your userpage. -- L.A.K.ERS 06:51, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

? --Mr Accountable (talk) 06:54, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
On your user page, the section "list" should be removed, as it violates WP:User page. -- L.A.K.ERS 07:11, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I assume that what you say is true. Where in WP:User page does it say this? --Mr Accountable (talk) 07:33, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
On the first line of the section "What may I not have on my user page?", which states, "Generally, you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia." If it is related to Wikipedia, and you are going to edit an article related to that, then I suggest you use a sandbox. -- L.A.K.ERS 07:37, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
OK. --Mr Accountable (talk) 07:39, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I work on zh, simple material; I created w:zh:分类:贝尔法斯特 and many states of Nigeria, for example. I use the radical list for reference. Its difficult to find. I think maybe Kiswahili needs a list of 214 Chinese radicals, it's a project. --Mr Accountable (talk) 07:46, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I hope you use the sandbox to put those things in there, since some users (like me) will maybe comment about this on why it is on your user page. Just a suggestion. -- L.A.K.ERS 07:49, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, but I currently don't want to participate in editing articles (since you may know that I only do lists). -- L.A.K.ERS 08:07, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

It is indeed[edit]

Honour to have question on my talk page about yet another bloody Indonesian category ( I just started a dubious one today).

(reverted rant that missed the point)

Another way of answering your question - big problem is consistency and as you are creating such a categories - is it as effective as cleaning up existing categories in the project? I am of the opinion that checking the project first and eradciating irregularities would be my personal task if i had the time. Western New Guinea/Papua confusions - and various lack of 'old names' and ' new names' for islands and regions is something which I havent really fixed by any stretch of imagination.

(further thought)

Please go ahead as long as you keep the locations/towns/regencies whatever fitting together right - trust you have either a good map or good knowledge - my deleted rant was the general anxiety about the amount of lack of WP RS in locality stubs and the backlog the WP Indonesia project has of the locality red links not yet created SatuSuro 13:34, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Also each province should have one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cities,_towns_and_villages_in_Yogyakarta so you have an issue whether you are going to make the new cats sub/child cats of this series or not SatuSuro 14:20, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Hmm[edit]

I totally misunderstood and misinterpreted the situation (not the first time either) - you are right fairly straight forward for what you are doing - and thanks for doing it as well - my apologies for my tangential synthesis of your original request - I am quite concerned about the lack of consistency across the project SatuSuro 00:30, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

BTW thanks for your tolerance of my incoherency above - and for tagging the cats - it is appreciated SatuSuro 10:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

We have had at the Wp Australia project some conventions that were nutted out when we had an active WP Places sub project - regarding the brackets or not - the WP Indonesia project as a coherent consensus creating group is very slow and small - If I were you - if it makes good common sense - do it and change it SatuSuro 11:33, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Well if you need to pass any ideas/problems by me - no problems - I'll be only too prepared to help if need be - and Ill keep the WP Indonesia project problems to myself - youll be seeing them as you are doing what you are doing without my interpretation SatuSuro 11:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

WELCOME[edit]

Selamat datang! You are one of the newer and most welcome members of the Indonesia project - thank you for what you have done so far - and what you are in the middle of - when all seemed lost with the departure of some of our more intrepid editors in 2008, you have instilled new enthusiasm that will no doubt help the project - thank you! SatuSuro 11:50, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Western Australia[edit]

Has probably the most active of the australian WP sub projects - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Western_Australia, and I started the WP Australian maritime history some time back http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Australian_maritime_history

I would think the Indonesian project is the one that needs the help before the Australian - on the basis of empty spaces and red links - compared to the Australian. SatuSuro 11:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

List of universities[edit]

Like the best of indonesian lists - the red tag ad hoc addition by fly by red isp eds who never return is endless here - it has so many WP:NOT issues as to always inciting me to reach for the AFD tag. It is not a valid wp list by any means - probably the best way is to find an off wiki list that lists all of them - unlink almost all of the names - and have it protected so that only genuine articles are linked to and the rest is untouchable by the ip numbers who never come back after putting their in - SatuSuro 05:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

My main issue with Indonesian lists is the red link additions are never followed up apart from links - the articles or lists sit there and only accrue external links like the University one - there is never any synergy in the Indonesian project because 99 times out of ten the additions are by indonesian eds with no or very poor english - and they never contribute to articles - apart from flagrant copyvios for their university arts :( - the late Ian Drury had a song Reasons to be cheerful - lists in the Indonesian project certainly has not one iota BTW thank you very much for the background info - must try another tack then :( SatuSuro 06:58, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

You know the song? ;) SatuSuro 07:04, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

BTW http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diponegoro_University is a classic example of what i am saying in the last section - wouldnt be suprised if it is a straight copyvio from their website - SatuSuro 07:07, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I have take my youngest offspring to the dentist - later/some other time cheers SatuSuro 07:09, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Nah Id personally never do a dyk on an Indonesian university - but i would have to explain that off wiki SatuSuro 10:16, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry[edit]

I am loading you talk page with a lot of chat.

  • (1)The late Frank Zappa had in mid career either a deep dislike of middle america, or perhaps distrust of middling america and had a routine at about the time the underwoods were with his ensemble (or was it flo and eddie) - centreville - and it resonates with the number of time localities with the name springfield that can be found in the 50+ states. The big problems with any name in indonesia - it needs to be the province - just like my late father used to always say 'london, england' having been a native of toronto, canada and also travelling through the us states between there and NY a lot in the deep dark past.
  • (2)Keeping red links in lists in WP Indonesia is something that Merbabu and I have tried for over a year to encourage the non english speaking fly bys not to add - I am afraid when you get the time I would appreciate a very carefully penned explanation at the project noticeboard - as I have about at least 10 lists to consider where i have shifted most of the vast ad hoc lists back off main space to talk pages simply to discourage the adhocery. We (Merbabu and self with support from Jakarta Based David) had agreed as the longest lasting eds in the damned project that the principle is only a mention if it links to a valid and relevant and sufficiently disambiuauted article - if you have an opposite point of view we will have to see it and consider it in WP AGF at the noticeboard - as it is basically asking us to revert an agreed Indonesian project policy to keep the project from being a complete and utter mess.
  • (3) take your time - real life has me out and off for a bit over the next four days anyways SatuSuro 14:12, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Have a nice day - ahah american cultural imperialism there - I can smell it - australia had (i think she might have retired in more ways than one) a giant sized female singer ... Margret Roadnight who brought ellen mcillwaine (yes I am interested in the obscure and eclectic parts apart from the fate of zappas entourage) to australia one time - she had a song where it was parodied mercilessly - the phrase that is SatuSuro 09:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC).
