Hey. Awhile back you closed a requested move and moved Ben & Jerry's flavors‎ to List of Ben & Jerry's flavors‎, and Retired Ben & Jerry's flavors to List of discontinued Ben & Jerry's flavors‎. Chunk Champion (talk · contribs) recently did a manual move back on both articles. I started a thread on ANI about this, but I was wondering if you could move both articles back and lock them against moves? — HelloAnnyong ^{(say whaaat?!)} 15:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Could you please explain to me why the Haagen-Dazs page does not have to follow the "List of" standard? I tried to fix the page to coincide with the rules and HelloAnnyong comes along and changes it back citing WP:POINT. But yet on that page under Important Note it reads, "However, just because someone is making a point does not mean that they are disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate it. With that in mind, linking here should be done with care." I Never Really Got to Say It Over There, But...

...they actually blocked me from accessing the English Wikipedia. No, I don't mean they took away my editing privileges. I mean that I actually couldn't even access the website. Basically just see what you can see. No need to buy things says the man who just bought a book on the Court of Appeal just to get a triple-DYK! I would have assumed they'd have a copy in the Library. The "brief historical description" may be the same as that on the website, the rest I'm not sure. Even taking into account that we're talking about Oxford, I'm still surprised by the number of relevant entries you found. That would work, if you wanted to set up something like that for a daily basis. The question I guess is whether you want to do that much work to set up every day like that, and I guess that decision is yours. Getting Back into things again

Hey, back again... Except for under a different name: i found the previous unprofessional. (Redskunk) I have some free time now, and want to know how to help wikipedia. I want to know what to help with. I've just been doing vandalism and AfD stuff right now. I'm interested in (possibly) becoming an administrator, but of course it would require work on my part, and my primary goal is the good of the encyclopedia over that. Not sure in what direction to go, and I find you a good reliable source of information/critique.

Also feel free to rip into what I've been doing if it would help :)

I'm trying to determine notability for progamers, as some people that have participated in the highest level championships aren't mentioned, and in WP:NOTE it says that people in such events are notable. However this is regarding esports. Additionally it should be noted that most available information will inherently be written in korean, so can that be cited or is it not considered a good source? I feel like I could write these articles, but want to make sure they are notable before proceeding.

Also looking into StarCraft professional competition it appears to be very long mostly consisting of lists which although relevant aren't listed on say Olympics. I think parallels should be drawn. William Terriss

Hello. You added the Oxford univ. project tag to Terriss's article. He attended Oxford briefly but did not graduate. I don't think that, under these circumstances, he should be tagged for that project. There must be a lot of people with a stronger connection to Oxford who should be tagged instead. I suggest that we delete the tag. It seems to me that the most relevant projects for this bio are Biography and Theatre. I don't even see why he should be tagged with the London project. Lewis Gilbertson

Hi Bencherlite. I've replied on my talk page about avoiding redirects. However, Wikipedia Wales policy for geographic descriptors is to use the contemporary spelling of place names. hence we use, for instance, Caernarfon, even though at the time the town may have been spelt Carnarvon or Caernarvon. Similarly, we refer to the Ffestiniog Railway for its whole history, even though for most of that history it was known in English as the Festiniog Railway. It is not true to say that at the time Lewis Gilbertson was born the place was known as Cardiganshire, rather than Ceredigion. It has been known in Welsh as Ceredigion since long before the Normans invented the term Cardiganshire. English has now adopted that spelling, rather than the bastardised Cardigan.

The UK policy guideline is set out at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (UK counties), where it advises we should use the current administrative counties:-

1. We should use the current, administrative, county. E.g. Eton is in Berkshire, not Buckinghamshire.

This approach is consistent with most local and national government literature, some private sector literature, will be familiar to most readers and writers, and indeed the approach will apply even if boundaries change again. It is also easy for people to find out where a particular village is, as maps with administrative boundaries are freely available online. While historic county maps do exist, it is hard to find one with maps of modern urban areas and city and borough boundaries transposed against historic counties. It is also consistent with other encyclopedias such as the 1911 Encyclopedia, which specifically calls Cromarty a 'former county'.

In Wales, of course, the principal area, whether a county or county borough, applies.

It is therefore not acceptable to say, under either the UK or Wales guidelines, that Gilbertson was born in Cardiganshire. A case could be made out that it would be acceptable to say that "Gilbertson was born in Ceredigion, then known as Cardiganshire", though I suspect even that would fall foul of the Wikipedia Wales guidelines. Rhodes scholarship

Hi. Sorry to bother you but I was searching the help desk archive for help in my problem and I found your comments here. Is there any chance you can delete my userpage and restore only the last edit? I am currently receiving criticism from another editor due to views on wikipedia policy I have in previous versions of my talk page. Naturally as I have removed this information from my talk page I no longer wish others to see it (as my views have also changed somewhat) but this editor has gone to the trouble of finding an old version of my userpage and posting it on the talk page of another article as ammunition against my general credibility. Adaptively Reused churches and Former churches

Hi Bencherlite, I've distinguished "Adaptively Reused churches" from "Former churches" because former churches could refer to any church building no longer used as a church, which would include demolition, closure, abandonment, ruin, etc. Adaptively Reused is an historic preservation / architectural conservation term for the reuse of a structure. For churches, this would include continuation as a church but for a different Christian denomination. Peter Fox also had a stub in the la:wikipedia which I have translated, but have not created it in case it gets deleted. Do you think it is worth improving, perhaps using Who's Who? Thank you for your offer of Who's Who details. I decided to added the Peter Fox article and see what happens next as I believe the information to be valid even though Latin WP is not allowed as a reliable source here. In depth coverage of the long series of CUL librarians would be a worthwhile project for somebody but I won't be doing it. I have just done two: F. W. Ratcliffe, and now Peter Fox. A question: you list yourself as having 51 Did you know? contributions at Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of DYKs, but on your page User:Bencherlite/DYK I see only 39. What's the difference in count? What am I not seeing?
