The Get Up Kids edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I didn't make the edit you are refering to. I think the confusion was caused by a comment I made on the discussion page for TGUK. The guy who made the edit did not sign his comment, which I responded to, and it looks like it's all one statement. I think you've done great work on the page, as well as Blackpool Lights. Notability of Team Fremont Live

A tag has been placed on Team Fremont Live requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. My first concern is that we don't even have an article on Team Fremont, so a podcast about them pretty much fails notability right there. Then there are so many self-published sources, and nothing that seems to meet WP:RS. Plus it's really hard to prove notability of a podcast, they're generally a dime a dozen. First, go to your preferences, and where it says "signature", that is where you can insert your signature. Make sure the box is checked.

There is no earthly way this was a candidate for speedy deletion, as at the time of your nomination it not only contained multiple assertions of notability, but had two legitimate references to back the assertions up. If you haven't already, please make sure you familiarise yourself with the speedy deletion criteria; this kind of nomination is very disruptive, as it not only wastes the time of the admins who have to deal with it, but potentially drives the editor off the project. CSD should only be used in a very limited circumstances, and not because you don't like an article; if you feel an article like this is inappropriate, use AFD instead.

Get Up Kids

It's widely known that THE BAND is a kansas city band, but it is also known that those members i modified grew up and went to school in Olathe, KS which is a Kansas City, MO suburb. I went to olathe south and know people who were classmates with them and it is widely known around town that they are from olathe kansas. I will be undoing your revisions shortly unless you have further issue with that. You can even look up the band members on social networking websites and they list Olathe, KS as hometown. I'm nearly 100% sure that the Popes and Suptic grew up and went to high school in Olathe, there are numerous articles on the internet verifying that. Heck, i can go to my highschool and grab a year book if need be :)

I'll do some more research and get back to you. Its highly possible that Suptic could have lived in Liberty as a young child and moved to Olathe for his highschool years? Why did you change my Speedy Delete tag from 'db-nonsense' to 'db-bio'? Nick RienThompson doesn't exist. Google has never heard of him and the claims made in the article are nonsense and impossible. Guitar Praise isn't released yet... few information available

Hello. I wrote an article about Guitar Praise. I'm not really that excited about the game coming, but I figure that it could use a Wikipedia article. There has been no screenshots released, and also, the beta testing was limited to California residents. There is little known about this game, which will release in about 6 weeks, so I put the {{future game}} tag on it.

Hey there! I've just had a few links removed from a few stand-up comedian sites, I believe you took mine down from Maria Bamford's page. I was just wondering why it's not ok to post those links, because I would have figured that people interested in Maria and her comedy would enjoy watching some of the clips on RooftopComedy. I'm not an expert on Wikipedia, so perhaps you could help me to understand what I did wrong? I'm just trying to connect fans with good content, and I'm confused why it's not allowed! Update - Thanks for the reply, Rwiggum. I guess I'd like to argue my point a bit more. I checked out your links to the guidelines for editing, thanks for those. Over at RooftopComedy we work with up and coming comedians, get their sign-off to air their clips, and then post them online so they can use them to self-promote. In addition, we like to take it a step further to act as online agents and promoters for these artists to help get their work out to the masses. I don't see linking to a profile and group of clips on our site as spam so much as an informational link that provides interested fans with another outlet to view work by the people referenced in the article. As for our site not being verifiable, I'm unclear what that means. All our comics write their own material and grant us permission to post - we check that the performance is the correct person before adding it to a performer's profile. And I'm just not sure why links to these artists performances on Comedy Central are allowed but ours aren't. I know you're not the only one taking my links down, so I suppose I just want to get a feel for why we're seen as spam by you and others! Look, i gotta be honest with you; the difference between stub, start and C are quite clear, but between C and B arem at least to me, not that clear, if i had to say a reason why your articles have Cs is because they lack references, but i`ve seen articles with less references with Bs, so to upgrade them to B, i suggest to add section of charts or certification (gold, platinum, diamond) and add references, sorry i can`t be more specific but the only real diference between C and B is, "No blatant source problems", whatever that`s suppose to mean.

I'm a bit concerned about the work that you've been doing on these articles. I closed the AfD in good faith, and I felt that there was no consensus to delete the articles, but that's what you appear to have done. Also, I'm having an awful lot of trouble going through and seeing what you've done, because when I check your diffs, they are thousands of lines long, with images everywhere. My poor old Mac with Firefox is thrashing the hard disk and hanging when it tries to display the pages.

If they are based on publicity shots, then they will count as derivative works, meaning the copyright still belongs to the band photographer. I guess I have become a tad jaded over the years from seeing too many cases of someone granting a limited permission to use something in one context and the user then turning around and saying "ok I have permission to use this now so it's PD", so I assumed the same was the case here, especialy since it's virtualy unheard of for anyone to release any rights to their logo (not even Wikipedia's logo is free licensed). --Sherool (talk) 14:41, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

For some obscure reason, the consensus for quite a while has been that professional athletes and top-level amateur athletes are considered to sort of "automatically" have notability, regardless of how obscure they may actually be. As such, article stubs on pro footballers no one's ever heard of are at least as safe from deletion, due to utter non-notableness, as Pokémon characters used to be. Ludo: You're Awful, I Love You

Hello. I wanted to write you and ask why you deleted my updates to the Ludo album You're Awful, I Love You? I added valuable and correct information about the album's bonus tracks but then today I noticed that my updates had been removed.

I added the following information in my update...

Bonus Tracks

CD Pregap Hidden Track - "Goodbye Bear" - 1:26
Rhapsody Digital Edition - "Safe In The Dark" - 4:12
iTunes Digital Edition - "Japan It!" - 3:22

I added brand new information about the CD Pregap Hidden Track "Goodbye Bear" which is available as a bonus track on the CD version of the album. "Goodbye Bear" is located before the first song "Love Me Dead" and is hidden in the Pregap of the CD. Pregap Hidden Tracks can be played by playing the first song in a CD player and then rewinding (more accurately, seeking in reverse) until the actual start of the hidden audio track. Additionally, I updated the information about the two other bonus tracks "Safe In The Dark" and "Japan It!" by giving more detailed information about which editions these bonus tracks can be found. Specifically, that they are available on the Rhapsody Digital Edition and the iTunes Digital Edition.

So I'm just wondering why you would delete this additional information from Wikipedia since I think that all Ludo fans would find this very valuable if they were trying to track down all the bonus tracks from this album.

CSD A9

Hello. Please make sure that articles you tag as CSD A9 fit the relevant criteria. In particular, The Ataris does have an article. In fact it's been there for six years! That does not mean that every single one of their songs needs an article but it does mean that speedy deletion is not the way to go. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 02:57, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

If an article has been around for 6 years and has been edited by multiple people then I guarantee you that no responsible admin will speedy-delete it. I've speedy-deleted gazillions of articles and it's a little annoying to find tagged articles that clearly don't meet the criteria. Not to mention that it's annoying for the article's creator to get a message explaining that their article will be deleted under criterion so and so when it's clear that their article doesn't qualify as such. The CSD A9 clearly states "An article about a musical recording that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant and where the artist's article has never existed or has been deleted" (emphasis mine). In all likelihood, these two articles won't be deleted because admins who look at expired PRODs err on the side of caution. In the case of Summer Wind Was Always Our Song, at least one editor removed an earlier notability tag [1] and that in itself indicates that it isn't uncontroversially a deletion candidate. Note also that the guideline you cite discourages deletion and recommends merging the article to the album. Basically, both the speedy tag and the PROD tags are a waste of your time (which is ok) and a waste of other editors' time (which is not ok). Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:03, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Jungle Disk

If you're going to speedily delete Jungle Disk then please get the justification right. The article is not about a company so it doesn't qualify for section A7. It is about a piece of software. "A7 applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people and organizations themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software and so on." The article is basically a find/replace of the Elephant Drive article, a very similar product with a very similar article in Wikipedia. Ben Lyons page

Don't panic at the most recent edit after yours; the one right after yours is mine. I toned it down, as you will see, but the essence remains. I also paraphrased the criticism into a more "Caspar Milquetoast"-ish style, because wikipedia articles are supposed to be neutral in tone in that way, or at least as neutral as possible. You can read my comments on the discussion page.

Also, when Mobbqbc does his newest edit, as I'm sure will happen, before you react, you might want to check Mobbqbc's editing history on wikipedia, which you might find of interest. Just for myself, I have no personal feelings one way or the other about Lyons, as I stumbled on that Chris Lee article by accident whilst looking for something totally different. My only concern is well written and cited articles on wikipedia with appropriately neutral and objective language, although from reading the criticism about him, I can understand where the tone comes from. But that reaction must not prevent one from continuing to be calm and detached in adding material to any given wikipedia article, Ben Lyons or anyone else.

Good luck with keeping an eye on it. At least because all edits on a wikipedia article are saved, I can always put mine back later one fairly easily when the occasion arises, as no doubt that it will. DJRafe (talk) 07:20, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

i need help creating new page for a Taqwacore artist

there is a possible deletion pending. its for The Sagg Taqwacore Syndicate. I have several link and articles and I interviewed the main guy yesterday in Vancouver.

Please stop reverting. It is not a typo. I repeat it is NOT a typo. It was conceived under that title hence why some reviewers have used that title as that was the title on their promo copies.

Oh, well the only reason is discussion. User:WesleyDodds, who's contributed to all sorts of Alt-Rock featured articles, gave individual reasons in his edit summaries as to why he was changing the things posted by 129.234.217.155. When that sort of thing happens and you disagree with the changes made to your edits, my understanding was that you were suppose to go the discussion page and find some kind of consensus. 129.234.217.155 failed to do that, and instead just reverted back and included what I felt were some strident comments. In the past when this sort of thing arises, I typically defend the more experienced editor, who is typically more right, and revert back to the edits they've made, leaving a note as to why I've done it. This is what I did. (Notice, I didn't change the part you approved of.) 129.234.217.155 then came back and re-did his edits, again with out discussion. Now, I'm not personally invested in the article. I'm just a recent changes patrol-man. He could very well be right on about everything, but since he seems set on not hitting that discussion button and getting consensus with the people who really disagreed with him, I thought the only thing to do would be report the whole thing to the admins and let them straighten it out. Personally, I think this is really immature, especially the highly personal way he's taking all of this.

Also, Punknews.org is another notable source of reviews for this genre.

Sorry about the reverts. I was, however, completely aware of the graphic novel. The song I believed the title was referring to, These Foolish Things, was written in the 1930s, and well before the 1980s book. The ad in the Watchmen graphic novel was a reference to the original song. I had reverted several similar edits before those done by SuperFlash101, but none of them had been sourced. What constitutes a notable, credible source?

I would like to know what constitutes a "notable, credible source" for album reviews? In case you are not aware, KevinNottingham.com is a highly regarded website in the hip hop community. It is NOT a personal website. We have a staff of 8 personnel, one of whom also writes for HipHopDX.com and another who writes for Okayplayer.com. We generate 12-15,000 unique hits a day. We get asked by record labels and artists to review their albums. If that does not qualify us as a notable, credible source, I don't know what does.
