Why not?

Why can't we keep the comment my way?CAYA is long gone and even if he does come back it's vandalism.It looks extremely retarded.I have the issue in my attic right now it says #19.

That issue, by itself, doesn't show the peak. If you only had the January issue, you would have no way to confirm that the song didn't chart higher after that date. The March 4th issue is the one that confirms that #19 was the peak. -- ChrisB 14:06, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Disturbed Genre

In reverting other people's changes, some editors have removed my attempt to bring a compromise on genre until concensus can be reached. Namely, the removal of Nu Metal, which should be in the genre list thanks to it being stated in the article. I've posted yet another thread on the talk page about this issue, and I would appreciate it if you would join in the process of establishing a definative set of genres verifiable by references.

Whilst I certainly agree with your reasoning about them not being heavy metal, remember that without references this is original research, and hence cannot be used to enforce editing decisions. Likewise, my use of your argument combined with the fact some people think they are heavy to allow the alternative metal genre is also original research. Thank you for your help in trying to maintain a good article - now let's get references so we can finally stop this from happening on an official level. LinaMishima 07:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I missplaced those comments to you. I appologise. However this does need to get sorted, given all the editing. Do I have your agreement to not revert if Heavy Metal and Alternative are removed, and Nu Metal (which is stated in the article) are added? I'm afraid a vote cannot by definition fix this - verification is not optional on wikipedia, we need hard references to prevent any more problems. LinaMishima 19:38, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Smashing Pumpkins discography cleanup tag

Hi, would you mind clarifying your cleanup tag on the page? I personally agree with your tagging the page as such, but one of the editors keeps on removing it because there was no discussion of the matter on the talk page to point out the particular cleanup issues. Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!) Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach. Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. WikiProject Rock music invitation

Hello WikiProject Alternative music member.
WikiProject Alternative music, in my eyes, has proved to be successful "improving the encyclopaedic coverage of articles relating to alternative rock", and improving their quality as well. One specific example I have witnessed is The Smashing Pumpkins article. The page has gone from a mediocre work, to GA status, to FA nomination. Only appropriate, as the Pumpkins are undeniably one of the most influential alternative rock bands on the 1990's and beyond.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently ressurected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and not only be a member of alternative Wikipedians, but the rockin' ones as well.

We now have 20 articles of featured quality. Well done to the various WP:RHCP editors, Xihix, Ceoil, WesleyDodds, and Teemu08. Kate Bush was featured on the Main Page on July 30. We collaborated on Meat Puppets, In Utero, "Touch Me I'm Sick", John Frusciante, and Zeitgeist (The Smashing Pumpkins album) during the past month. During the month of July, Sky Blue Sky, R.E.M. (band), "Monkey Gone to Heaven", A.M. (album), The Cure, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Wilco, Loose Fur, John Frusciante, A Ghost Is Born and Being There (album), a total of 11 articles, were promoted to good article status; a record month. We now have 33 GAs, out of a total of ~680 articles.

During the month of December, Slay Tracks (1933-1969), "These Days" (Powderfinger song), Transfusion (EP), Young Modern, Ian Svenonius, Trent Reznor, "Sunsets", Alice in Chains, David Lovering, Thrice, These Days: Live in Concert, Parables for Wooden Ears, Fingerprints: The Best of Powderfinger, 1994-2000, Odyssey Number Five, Vulture Street and Flea (musician), a total of 17 articles, were promoted to good article status; a record month. With the addition of Loveless (album) and Internationalist (album) (which were promoted to good and featured article status in the same month), this brings the total up to 19 GAs for December! Starting this month, the newsletter will contain a new feature that lists a recommended alternative rock album for project members to check out and help expand their knowledge of the genre. This month's "Recommended Alternative Album" is Archers of Loaf - Icky Mettle (1993).

The discographies of Dischord Records and Load Records reached featured list status during the past month. Well done to Drewcifer3000 (who wrote both featured lists). Powderfinger discography reached featured topic status during the past month. Well done to the various WikiProject Powderfinger editors. We collaborated on Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Franz Ferdinand (band), PJ Harvey and Michael Stipe during the past month. During the month of January, Rage Against the Machine, Pick Up the Pace, "Lost and Running", Bernard Fanning, Year Zero (album), Jon Coghill, "Losing My Religion" and "Touch Me I'm Sick" were promoted to good article status. We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. The discographies of Bauhaus and Sigur Rós reached featured list status during the past month. Well done to JD554 and Matthewedwards. Year Zero (album) was featured on the Main Page on February 2. We collaborated on "All Apologies", Shoegazing, The Stone Roses, and The Jesus and Mary Chain during the past month. During the month of February, Augie March, Modern Life Is Rubbish, "Give It Away" (Red Hot Chili Peppers song), and The Get Up Kids were promoted to good article status. This month's "Recommended Alternative Album" is Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff (1988).

You may be interested to know that the WikiProject My Chemical Romance has recently been transformed into a task force of WikiProject Emo. Please visit the task force page to see what's new. This move allies the task force with a larger WikiProject that handles much of the administrative overload, thus allowing task force members to focus on the most important activity: article improvement. The project's membership list has also been moved to the new task force page. If you see that your username is in the "Inactive/former members" section, please do not take offense; this is because you no longer appear to be active on Wikipedia. We may also take the liberty of removing the member userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:My Chemical Romance task force members. Of course you are free to rejoin the task force and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active again.
