File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Iot ritual.jpeg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Iot ritual.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vladlen Manilov / 06:10, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

W.A.S.P.[edit]

Hello, I have reverted your changes over at W.A.S.P. based on your claim that "Forever Free" and "Mean Man" were not "notable" because they didn't chart. They both charted (at least in Europe) according to W.A.S.P. discography, meaning they are "notable" enough to be mentioned among the band's "notable" songs and therefore I restored them in the article. Not only that, but "Forever Free" and "Mean Man" had some airplay on radio or MTV back in at least 1989, is that not "notable" enough? If you disagree, you might want to consider taking it over to Talk:W.A.S.P. (band) rather than engaging in an edit war, otherwise stop removing "Forever Free" and "Mean Man" from the list of W.A.S.P.'s "notable" songs. Thanks. Have a great day! Disambiguation link notification for March 1[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited GypsyCrusader, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Romani. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Dylan Thomas (guitarist) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Dylan Thomas (guitarist), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ––FormalDude talk 09:55, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Iranian politics general sanctions notification[edit]

Please read this notification carefully: it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions to curtail disruption in articles related to post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed. Before continuing to make edits that involve this topic, please read the full description of these sanctions here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

FYI about your revert at People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, which is technically a violation [1]. Please discuss edits that have been reverted in the talk page and try to get some consensus before adding them back to the article. Thanks. Fad Ariff (talk) 12:00, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

discrete parts[edit]

"Sandboxing articles"[edit]

Hi there, you've indicated that you intend to "sandbox" articles and rewrite them. Please first spend some time considering the Wikipedia policies that encourage editors to thoroughly discuss article issues on the talk pages before they are "sandboxed". I haven't seen much discussion by you on the articles that I believe you intend to sandbox. But i'd be happy to discuss further on those talk pages once you initiate that. Thanks so much.

Farr4h2004 (talk) 22:11, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your suggestions regarding my rewrite. it's surely welcome. as this is a collaborative project, and as i rewrite articles for style, npov, sources, etc, and as i am a disinterested editor, I'm sure you'll have lots of good ideas. I'm not an interested editor in the topic. totally non aligned.

thanks again.SkidMountTubularFrame (talk)

They are not just my concerns. Multiple editors have the concerns as it’s unusual to rewrite an entire article. Please refrain. And if you have any issues do as you should by discussing them on the talk pages. Thank you so much. Farr4h2004 (talk) 17:28, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i rewrite entire articles for style, noov, sourcing, prose, ect.

your seem to be very strident as regards your various multiple edits, and i understand how that can be hard.

your request is denied.

SkidMountTubularFrame (talk) 17:42, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok do as you like. I’ll have to report for wiki violations given your lack of discussion on the issues per wiki policies. Again, your use of “us” is also suspect. Farr4h2004 (talk) 18:06, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, you’ve been asked by other users to discuss your issues on the article talk pages and have not done so. Farr4h2004 (talk) 18:16, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

not sure why your are continuing to harass me into not editing a page, but please stop.

Hi, you keep coming on my talk page. Again, I have asked you to discuss your article issues on the ARTICLE talk page. Not my talk page. Please do so. Farr4h2004 (talk) 21:38, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i don't know what you mean. you send me a message like this one, it shows up on a link at the top of the page, i click it and respond politely and firmly, as I'm doing now. i did not initiate or perpetuate the exchange you've engaged me in. i will simply block you, if that's ok. thanks again for your assistance. Propose Barney Miller "genre" Edit: 2022-06-03[edit]

Greetings --

The reason for the "interesting" edit summary was in response to MarnetteDI's rejection of the same edit, last week (please review the Barney Miller Talk Page entry, "Barney Miller 'genre' Discussion"), where he/she provided no rationale for why such a rudimentary, base-level edit requires a source. The new content regards nothing more than understanding and identification of literary devices; any given individual with associated fundamental knowledge could make such an assessment. It would seem a "source" per se, within this context, is actually nothing more than validating one's capacity for knowledge -- which is wholly unnecessary.

I kindly ask that you re-instate the requested edit, the content of which is accurate.

Regards, J. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.10.164.56 (talk) 16:23, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

interesting take, one with which the arbitration kids will find disagreement. let me again check the relevant, and work through the logic. SkidMountTubularFrame (talk) 16:36, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can't do it. I agree with your basic premise, but am unable to create an exception to unsourced categorizing. Barney Miller has element you describe, but to drop that into the category churn, it needs more than your obvious thoughtful knowledge and my agreement. an example, say an editor watched bacharach perform on a living room piano songs later presented as Lennon McCartney compositions. that is notable, would be attested to by a handful of people, and would be factual let's say. but it would be a claim requiring similarly strong sources. i suggest you identify all series thought of as dramatic comedy but with script and directorial elements you have identified, and just do it. SkidMountTubularFrame (talk) 20:33, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the time to offer a detailed response — very much appreciated.
First, I would offer that my request is not a genre classification change; rather, my request is to simply qualify the classification, "sitcom", early in the narrative so the reader has a more accurate understanding regarding the show’s unique content. (Aside from All In The Family and M*A*S*H no other long-term "sitcom" at that time routinely provided consequential (and at times pivotal) relevant topics in an earnest, effected manner.) Second, it all seems rather silly that my objective opinions are deemed invalid; yet, seemingly given internet articles smitten with blatant inaccuracies and misleading generalizations (for instance, calling all the detectives "quirky" or "off the wall", and referring to Inspector Lugar as a "racist" [Arnold would clearly never cast such a character as a member of the 12th]) would seem more likely to receive the Wikipedia Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval as it were...
My muted tirade aside, I spent about 45 internet minutes and found a few articles to support my opinion and have provided the sources. (To sound haughty, I doubt any one of those writers has either watched or studied the show as much as I have; and still maintain that my unbiased opinion is as valid as the opinions of the cited writers.)
Thanks again! 172.10.164.56 (talk) 00:56, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

my concern was the older lawsuits without any information about the eventual settlement, and wanting to at least give the last filing from accused. it reads as a group of disgruntled parents and teens, verses a group of very scurrilous criminals, and am trying to source some of the thousands of clients who perhaps had other experiences. thank you for some new reading material. it's a climb. Reply on the Speed of Light[edit]

A citation is absolutely needed because every textbook you claim says this is wrong. It specifically has occurred in history because of a misunderstanding of energy and information, as well as the difference between an idealized classical vacuum and the real life exotic quantum vacuum that has been proven to exist today. Specifically, special relativity only states that all observers, irrespective of their relative motions will all measure the speed of light as the same number in vacuum, and that is it! It says nothing more. A corollary to this is that a classical point mass will take infinite energy to reach the speed of light. This says nothing about energy in general or more abstractly, "information". MMmpds (talk) 23:55, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A friendly suggestion: approach your addition to the encyclopedia as though it were an important school assignment worthy of your precious time. Gather your sources, scribble a draft, let someone suggest edits, write it all down, tidy it all up, make sure it's sourced (make dam'd sure it's sourced) and the changes you're attempting will likely find a way into the article, given both factual and appropriately sourced.

Urdu revert[edit]

Because you are using mobile view, you probably didn't see the purpose of my edit that you reverted.[3] With desktop view and a window width of 1280 or more, the "See also" section heading is to the right of the last photo; the list wraps around the photo to the left margin. "Clear" forces the "See also" section to begin below the image so it's all in one column on the left, like it should be.

With a window width of about 900 or less, the References section is all in one narrow column between the left margin and the Official Languages box on the right. "Clear" forces the References section to begin below the boxes so that the full window width is used.

Or maybe you saw a problem that I didn't see? 63.226.230.9 (talk) 14:46, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you remove information?[edit]

Hello, I’m wondering why you removed factual information from Bob McBride’s wiki page? This is information that has been clearly missing for a very long time and can easily be confirmed through marriage and birth records. Legally, Bob McBride has one biological daughter whom he had with his wife Penelope McBride. The two worked very hard to keep their daughter out of the spotlight and media as she was growing up. She is well know as his daughter within Bob’s inner circles of the music industry. TreasureMcBride (talk) 16:54, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If it's easily sourced, then source it, please

Uncited biographical information will be removed.

Saintstephen000 (talk)

Perhaps you could be of help here. How would one cite something like this? Trying to do the right thing here - because there is not only missing information on his page but also seems to be biological offspring claims that are also not proven. I ask in the spirit of making sure a deceased individual has accurate information on his wiki page. For example this statement “ He has a daughter, Elisa “ is missing a citation. (There is no evidence of this person’s biological relationship to Bob McBride cited.) TreasureMcBride (talk) 05:40, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My edits are based on fact. Your edits are harmful and seem rooted in bias.[edit]

If you wish to continue editing the page please do so with relevant life events and not instances that do not add substance to the biography. If you want to add different referenced material that is fine, but I do ask that you remove that article from TheGrio. They state that she has experienced colorism, but by definition that is not true because colorism is discrimination against someone with a darker skin tone than you. Though provided by TheGrio.com, that information is incorrect. She has many reliable articles about her family struggles with money, wanting to be a ballet dancer, moving a lot because her dad was an aspiring actor too, etc. I tried adding that but you keep removing it, so if it is done incorrectly on my part I ask that you edit it to be done correctly. But that is the information is important to her story and should be included in her Early Life section instead a singular quote that is being used to paint her in a bad light. 2601:14D:8B80:1E50:C918:BBA1:CC35:4D1F (talk) 08:06, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. where exactly do you find evidence for saintstephen000 engaging in an edit war?

he is a vandalism reverter, perhaps you're referring to someone with a specific bone to pick. we don't play favorites.

Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City edits[edit]

Hello Saintstephen000, I recently attempted to update the titular see of Arsennaria and the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh city to reflect the recent (as of this morning) installation of the newest auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese, Joseph Bui Cong Trac, whose titular see is Arsennaria. It has been reverted to the original, whilst the source in the Arsennaria article : http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/diocese/d3a91.html has been updated to reflect the latest change.

His Vietnamese Wikipedia is as follows: https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuse_B%C3%B9i_C%C3%B4ng_Tr%C3%A1c

I know of this change first hand, since I attended the consecration Mass for his installation just a couple of hours ago. Mammothnguyen93 (talk) 06:28, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jelena Dokic: war refugee[edit]

Jelena Dokic and her family did not 'decide' to leave Osijek in 1991. The war was already raging for six months when they were forced to flee in a brutal ethnic-cleansing campaign against Serbian civilians, and mixed-marriage families. Its highly offensive to claim otherwise. You cant claim in the 'early life' section that her family lived in harsh circumstances in Sombor (they were homeless war refugees), without elaborating on the reasons why they were were forced to be in that situation. The family arrived in Australia on a refugee VISA, yet the article wants us to believe that they just 'decided' to leave their home one day. 110.174.45.235 (talk) 00:51, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do have knowledge on them, having followed the group for over thirty years. I know every release, date, label info etc, as I do with many other bands from that era. I didn’t realise that UK chart positions needed citations because this information is freely available on the U.K. charts website. I’m a newbie to editing on Wiki, so I’m not even sure if this is how I respond to you correctly. Over the weekend, I’ll take some time to read up and learn. Reminder: always double-check to which revision you're reverting[edit]

In Amazing Stories (1985 TV series) you reverted my second revision rather than my original one. While I do still contend that for anthology series this parameter should only be used for composers whose work was featured prominently througout a significant number/percentage of episodes as the infobox should be a summary rather than anything exhaustive, I realize this is better left for community discussion (as started in Template talk:Infobox television). 2803:4600:1116:12E7:88B7:D04F:9C79:4C41 (talk) 07:53, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 17:03, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Explain Article Reversal[edit]

Hello @Saintstephen000: Can't you understand simple English? You have to provide reliable sources for the information that is added, whether you add it or any other person does. Without reliable sources, there is absolutely no credibility to the article. Please read carefully about wiki guidelines in WP:REFB and WP:CHEWINGGUM. It clearly states that unsourced information is not entertained at all, and if necessary, we should remove such content. I think you haven't read those guidelines properly. If you continue to revert my edits, especially those with unsourced information, then I will inform WP:ANI and then admin will get involved regarding this issue. Thanks 2405:201:800B:6079:258E:2FDE:63A0:4E6F (talk) 18:03, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for taking the time to help us edit wikipedia.
unfortunately, uncontentious edits similar to the ones you are quickly removing are likely still relevant, and as they are not biographical, i think I'll ask you to discuss these multiple changes on the talk page.
thank again and have a wikipedia day.
Saintstephen000 (talk) Saintstephen000 (talk) 18:08, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Saintstephen000: Not only biographical articles but any article that is unsourced then it shall be removed immediately. Check these Template:More citations needed and Template:Alumni. These templates are made in places where unsourced content should be removed. If you can provide reliable sources, then go ahead and add sources nobody will stop you. Please also read WP:RSP to understand which sources are considered reliable. But if you revert such edits where no credible source is provided, then I will have to inform WP:ANI on this matter. Thanks--2405:201:800B:6079:258E:2FDE:63A0:4E6F (talk) 18:22, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No citation[edit]

@Saintstephen000 You are the one breaking the rules. 27.3.1.88 (talk) 04:19, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hello fellow wikipedia editor, and thank you for taking the time to engage with us over the content you're deleting.
we are of the mind that the edits you were committing were tendentious, and being perpetrated for unknown reasons.
we don't find them to be helpful, and we wish you would find the time to quickly locate sources or tag for citation needed, rather than deleting v established, non controversial content,
we could be wrong, but we're going to tag along with you for a while and help.
thanks again for helping create a remarkable encyclopedia,

Helping understand the revert[edit]

@Saintstephen000

Recently you seem to have reverted a new user edit vide dif 1152082128 @ the article 2023 World's Strongest Man. I could not find any mention of the reason in the edit summary.

https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2198636611710 this and other refs seem to suggest that Mitchell Hooper is really from Barrie, Ontario.

The new editor @BarrieIsTheCity is covered by WP:Growth team, I suppose, explaining why their edit can not be retained @ their User talk:BarrieIsTheCity may be helpful in editor retention of WP project.

Thanks Bookku (talk) 05:50, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for taking the time to help me learn and grow as an editor.
I'm going to go over my revisions, this seems to be a topic of which you have some knowledge and significant interest.
i encourage you to revert or fix what you've indicated is a mistake, and I'll look over it in the morrow,

Your reverts[edit]

Today you made a series of reverts of completely appropriate edits. Introducing overlink violations. Restoring unsupported text without supplying RS refs. etc. Without any edit summaries on your part. Your multiple reverts were improper. Please undo them. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:714F:9C6C:35A3:BFB0 (talk) 23:04, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i disagree with all of them.
I've read over the edits, and find them without merit.
thank you for taking the time to help keep my encyclopedia accurate,

I'm happy to discuss why you feel that why. And why you left no edit summary. I explained my edits in an edit summary. You have failed to explain why you reverted them - they comply with wp policy, and your reverts fail to, and your "finding" is not wp-policy based. If we can't discuss properly, and you fail to restore the edits, let's involve an admin, who can block whichever one of us is not following wp policy. --2603:7000:2101:AA00:40C6:2E91:2ACA:FD97 (talk) 05:20, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Saintstephen000. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dylan Thomas".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 21:22, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

thank you.
although notable within a certain narrow segment of the punk goth music fanbase, i couldn't find sufficient sources to justify inclusion.

Anti-vandalism patrolling[edit]

I saw the AN/I section and was happy to see the resolution at Talk:International House of New York, where you had taken another look at the edits you reverted and admitted you had probably been carried away while patrolling for vandalism. It's big of you to admit that; thank you. However, while recentism is a valid concern, the concern for balance that you expressed at AN/I isn't. Although this policy section focuses on fringe positions in science and history, its underlying point is that Wikipedia presents what reliable sources state; we don't beat the bushes for a contrary opinion just to be fair. We are not subject to any "fairness doctrine", and neutrality means factually summarizing the available sources, not presenting all points of view with equal weight.

Also, while I'm happy to see you using edit summaries while reverting at that article, "no" is not much better than the default supplied by the software, "Reverted edit 12345 by User:XXXX". And your subsequent revert edit summary "these good faith edits require source" was just strange: the paragraph was cited to 2 good sources, as the other editor said, and what you actually did in that edit and others was remove the section heading?? Please give an edit summary that justifies/explains what you did in your edit.

Your reverts of 2603:7000:2101:AA00:F856:8AC1:7D50:8371, on the other hand, didn't have any edit summaries so far as I can see. After seeing the section above concerning these, "Your reverts", I had a look and I have undone your revert at Khakassian State University. The IP provided a clear edit summary justifying their edit, which removed some uncited material and two wikilinks on a country no one needs to look up, Russia. Both of these were well within the range of acceptable actions. Although editors vary—some do wikilink all countries, although it's recommended not to, and some would have either cut all the unreferenced material, or looked for a few sources instead of cutting—that was by no means a vandal edit or a test edit, which is what leaving the automatically generated edit summary means. Based on that random sample, you had no valid reason to revert and should consider reverting yourself in the other edits in that sequence. And not justifying your reverts with edit summaries and telling the IP above I've read over the edits, and find them without merit, without explanation, were both rude. Is it possible you don't feel the same need to respect unregistered editors as registered editors? If so, please be aware that you're mistaken; the civility rule applies to IP editors, too. And sometimes the unregistered editor is a newbie putting their toe in the water here for the first time; don't WP:BITE them, you were new once, too. Sometimes, on the other hand, they're a long-term editor; we have IP editors who've been helping the project for years, as well as registered editors who sometimes edit logged-out for whatever reason. Both are perfectly legal so long as they don't double-vote in a discussion.

Anyway, thank you for patrolling, but please could I ask you to be more careful in doing so? Don't revert just because you yourself wouldn't have made that edit, only if it's actively damaging, always explain why in an edit summary, and consider instead reverting only partially, or making a fix (for example to broken formatting) or a different change (such as rephrasing the new addition if you don't like the wording). That way, you and the other editor assist each other in improving the article, or at least the other editor understands what they did wrong and can avoid the same mistake next time. And take your time to make sure the problem is really a problem; for example that you didn't miss the addition of sources. It's better to get it right than to get carried away with being fast.

Thank you again for helping to protect and improve Wikipedia :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 11:21, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

that was absolutely the nicest correction possible, thank you for taking the time to instruct me on these matters.
it's factual that at times i edit quickly when the new additions page is busy, and reading over the errors i can see where this could cause mistakes and misunderstanding.
without responding point by point in this forum, be assured I'm spending my editing today reading over your guide and incorporating it into my flurrying.
have a nice day,

Why dude[edit]

You reverted one of my correct changes to an inccorection. Do people not fact check shit anymore and just blindly assume? Learn to know when people die, we use past tense in those cases, not present because a dead person can't be alive, therefore it should be WAS and >not< is.

I hope you understand your blunder and don't do it again in the future. 2A02:A442:5277:1:BCD8:6391:6A6C:7D2B (talk) 13:34, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

it might have been a death announcement without source.
sometimes, editors use wiki for pranks. i was aware in real time of the passing of an important person, and was just trying to keep real.
thanks for the conversation about something with which i also care,
