Warisaliganj to the north of Nawada Town was founded by Waris Ali Khan, a member of the family Kamgar Khan. Warisaligang, the name is some time spelt Worseleygang from an erroneous belief that it was named after Mr. Worseley, a former Deputy Magistrate of Nawada. Earlier it was a village called Chakdharampur.

As of 2011[update] India census, Warisaliganj had a population of 33,907. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Warisaliganj has an average literacy rate of 50%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 57%, and female literacy is 43%. It was one of the good place for sugar industry in Bihar few years ago. Nowadays this very famous sugar mill is closed due to unconsciousness of the leaders of the area.Some small scale industries are also present in different villages nearby. Some active people are still working to restart the closed Sugar Mill.

The area is well connected by all other parts of the state by roadways and railways.SH 83 passes through Warisaliganj Connecting Nawada and Sheikhpura districts . NH 31 is just 11 km by road connecting Patna and Ranchi. The other areas connected by roads are Biharsharif, Pakribarawan, Barbigha etc. It is also connected by the Indian Railway B.G line through the Gaya-Kiul loop line of East Central Railway. Rickshaws and thelas are major means of local transport.
The market consists of big and small merchants. Earlier the market was one of the famous Wholesale Spot. Now-a-days the market is losing its shine. Tilkut is one of the famous sweets available here.
The famous Sun temple (Surya Mandir) is located on the outskirts of the town near administrative offices of the block.The place is used for celebrating all kinds of religious and spiritual events of the locality.The place also has the recently opened Sanskrit college opened in the campus.
The village Dariyapur Parvati six miles north of Warisaliganj has ruins and relic of Kapotika Bodh Bihar . In the centre stands a famous temple of Avalokiteshwer . King Aditaysen founded the historical monuments in the village Apsarh that is visible even today.
The Village Sarkati is located 10 KM from the warisaliganj town and once the one of the highly decorated Estate during the zamindari system. Known for its versality and harmony among the all the caste and religion. Also known for the huge traditional houses owned by the members of the earstwhile zamindar family.
