Request a coach :: Coach status

Quicklinks    (edit)

Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia's admin coaching program. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long! We're in the process of re-organizing at the moment and are starting a new system of requests.

Coaching page management

New requests Are added to the current request list in date order, newest at the end. Coaches will contact people at or near the top of the list, with preference being given to people who meet the guidelines below.
Requests which seem inactive Either no match has been agreed despite several weeks of being posted, or because they are withdrawn by the requester, or non-responsive or withdrawn, and where there is no sign of ongoing activity or interest, are moved periodically to the "older requests" section. This may be done once or twice a month by any editor.

Requests that are have been inactive for 6 months (or whose editor's account has been inactive for 4 months) will be removed from the list. You may not be notified of this - it is your responsibility to visit this page regularly.

Requests which are successfully matched Should be moved to the status. When the coaching effectively ends, please update that page to move the coachee from the Current student to Former student column. A coachee who does not edit for thirty (30) days without informing his coach of a longterm WP:Wikibreak, will be considered retired and moved to the Former student column. This is necessary given the limited number of coachee spots available and the desire to provide as much coaching contact to active users as is reasonably possible.
If you want to remove your request Remove your entry from the current or older list (depending on where it is) - do not renumber any other requests.

Coaches: Responding to a request

If you wish, you may contact a user at or near the top of the list. Leave a message under that person's name here, indicating you have contacted that person. If coaching commences, move that name to "matched requests" and append the details and current date, then update your status.

In general, to help others, please note if you contact a requester (by appending "Contacted - ~~~~ to the line, for example). If there is no response after some time, then note this too, and consider whether the request looks ongoing, or whether to move it to older/inactive requests.

If a requester is missing something off the basic checklist (for example, no edit summaries, or 95% of edits are of one type), then let them know on their talk page, mark the request as responded to with a note as to the comment, and move it to inactive requests for the time being.

Coaching requests

Current requests

New requests should be entered in the following syntax to the bottom of the Current list:

|-
|{{UserVP|USERNAME}}
|DATE OF REGISTERING ON THIS LIST
|DATE OF LAST VISIT TO PAGE
|OPTIONAL COMMENT HERE
|EDITCOUNT AND DATE OF FIRST EDIT
|

Requests older than around 6 weeks without indication of current interest may be moved to "older requests" by any editor. If you are still interested, please append to your request a note that the request is still active and the current date, and move it back to this section in date order.

Please read the basic checklist (above) first, and then if you'd benefit from coaching, add new requests to the end of this section. Older requests - we need to know if you are still interested. If you are update the "date page last visited" box

If someone has proposed a pairing, they will add " (match pending) " in the admin notes box while it is being confirmed.

Sjones23 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2007-08-08 2008-03-15 I want to become an administrator because I want to help out in protecting pages from vandalism, deleting articles per WP:AFD and blocking users who add vandalism. I would like to know more about how the administration project works. I had an editor review by User:Moonriddengirl and have been adopted by User:Darthgriz98. I also revert vandalism and give them warnings and I have the rollback feature as well. My request is still active. 14,180 edits

Alessgrimal (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-03-09 2008-05-28 I am extremely interested in becoming an admin. I would like a coach to help me better my editing abilities. Right now I have twinkle installed to further remove vandalism. 2607 edits;

Styrofoam1994 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-03-09 2008-03-31 I've been active for about 2 years with over 4000 edits, on various topics. I feel that this could be the time for trying out new things and expand my Wikipedian knowledge and abilities, especially on policies and copyright stuff. I hope to become an administrator sometime after some time passes (because of some mishaps over early 2008). I want to be able to create and contribute significantly to good articles and maybe a featured article(s). 5,081 edits according to Special:Preferences

Vox Humana 8' (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-03-09 2008-03-09 I am interested in becoming an admin eventually. I have already had some guidance from an admin through MSN Messenger, but would like proper coaching. I have been using both this account and User:Voxpuppet (the latter in a parallel second browser, as Firefox doesn't like Twinkle) to fight vandalism using the Recent Changes log and Twinkle with all add-ons and have been contributing slowly but surely. However, the Wikipedia Community is unlikely to have much faith in me, as I have in the past made myself a pain in the proverbial for some of them: I would like to put all that behind me and make myself an invaluable contributor in my own right. Other info will follow later today --Vox Humana 8' 21:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply] 3147 edits from currently active accounts;

ThinkBlue (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-03-26 2008-03-26 I would like to become an Admin, but I first need to "sober" up, as per my recent Rfa. 10418 edits and December 4, 2006 Match pending.
Fusionmix (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-03 2008-05-02 I joined Wikipedia almost two years ago, but really have only been active since November 2007. Since then, I've largely familiarized myself with terminology and policies. I do quite a bit of vandal-patrolling, though lately I've tried to focus more on mainspace contributing (media-related), project work (like the WP:MILHIST T&A drive), and communicating with other editors (something I've always considered myself weak in). I'd like to get more experience in the ways of CSD and AFD, however, as I often hesitate in those areas due to fear of mistakes. Though adminship would be something I'd be willing to consider sometime in the far future, I currently would like admin coaching more to gain general experience in dealing with difficult situations. 5000+ edits as of this post, first edit was on 30 July 2006.
Torchwoodwho (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-05 2008-04-05 I have experience in CSD, XFD, DRV, ANI, RFA, Help Desk, AFC Project, New Page Patrol, Recent Changes Patrol and various talk spaces. I am a Rollback user with Twinkle, Friendly, and VandalProof approval. I try to assist new users in cleaning poorly written articles which have been proposed for deletion and to date I have rescued several of these articles to a good start status. My interest in adminship is to better serve the community's vandalism projects, deletion debates and continue my work to educate new users about how to best participate in Wikipedia. 2,636 (registered)first edit on June 11th, 2007 (registered) January 2007 (unregistered)

Dominik92 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-09 2008-04-23 I would eventually like to become an admin, even though I enjoy contributing to articles, sometimes, obnoxious vandalism makes it difficult. If I'd ever get the tools I'd like to participate in many aspects of admin work; deletion, protection, blocks, closing AfD's, helping out users at WP:ANI etc. I'd like to get proper training and eventually apply at WP:RfA, in the past few months I've learned a lot about Wikipedia and I can confidently say that I would be a responsible admin even though I'd understand if I didn't get the tools. In the past I have contributed to main space (active member of WP:WikiProject Czech Republic), participated in AfD and SD tagging of pages and have also reviewed GAs and FAs.The Dominator (talk) 00:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply] over 6000, May 14 2007 first edit, but only started actively contributing December 2007 Match pending.
GO-PCHS-NJROTC (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-15 2008-04-15 I'm interested in becoming an admin so I can block vandals and username violations as well as help with page protection. I'd like to have a coach to help drill me for adminship. 1756 (first registered edit on December 15, 2007, first IP edit on October 17, 2007) Contacted. Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-17 2008-04-17 I'm a comparatively new user as I've been registered since 2006, however, I only became truly 'active' in December 2007. Most of my work here at Wikipedia has been towards the WikiProject Medicine, although I’ve contributed to several other WikiProjects and unrelated articles. Other than article creation/editing/reviewing, my work consists of reverting vandalism using several tools, mostly Vandal Fighter and Twinkle (and as such has allowed me to gain experience of using rollbacks). 4,005 edits,

Editorofthewiki (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-19 2008-04-19 I would like to become an admin so I could give users more of the benefit of the doubt. I believe that admins are very trigger happy to delete pages and block users. With my new found powers of undelete and unblock I would be able to help new users learn the basics. I know, I've been registered since January 2008 and I have a block in my block log, but I've also written an FA- Lazare Ponticelli- and a couple of DYKs. 3,539 edits, First edit 01/03/08
Undead_warrior (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-21 2008-05-26 I've failed 2 RfAs and will try again in June. I do RC patrol, NP patrol, and music related changes. I also do a lot of work on AfD and IfD. 8,233 edits, first edit 17:44, 27 March 2007 (edit count according to Special:Preferences.) Match pending.
Smsarmad (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-26 2008-05-06 I have learned a lot about Wikipedia in the last four months but still need someone to guide me to learn more specially about adminship. Edit Count:11653 /First Edit:April 19, 2007
Meldshal42 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-28 2008-07-11 I have always wanted to be an admin, but I think that learning from an experienced one will help me be ready for the job faster. I am a frequent editor to articles under the scope of WikiProject Volcanoes, WikiProject Solar System, and various others. I co-founded WikiProject Swimming as well. I don't think I am anywhere near adminship, but some help would be great. I also founded WikiProject Earthquakes, which is doing great with six featured articles added to the scope already. I work very hard and am a very strong WikiElf. I deal with things at RfA every once in a while, but frequently I work at Newpages and Recent changes patrol. I'm pretty familiar with the guidelines, i guess. I work so much behind the scenes here; doing work at Special:Unusedimages, Special:Random, and other things that get you unnoticed. Last month I made over 1000 edits. 4000 edits, First edit 09 March 2007
Wildthing61476 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-02 2008-05-02 I first self-nominated myself for adminship in May of 2007. I was declined at the time, and am looking at trying again in the near future. I focus mostly on recent change patrol and vandal editing, but spend a good deal of time reading WP:AN and WP:ANI to get a better idea of the various types of issues handled by the admins here. Edit Count: 13,815 starting on 6/14/06 Match pending.
Tnxman307 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-06 2008-07-07 I have recently become more involved in Wikipedia and would like to help out more by becoming an admin. I like to focus on recent changes, whether that involves simply reloading the recent changes pages or looking at the new pages creation log. I have also become more involved in AfD's and hope to improve/ rescue several articles. Also, I have started to help wherever I can at the help desk and new contributor's help page. I would like an admin coach to point me to areas I may have overlooked. 7,595/ First edit - November 19, 2007
Unisouth (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-13 2008-05-13 I have been editing Wikipedia for over two years and during that time I have also been known as Lenny and The Southerner. My favourite contribution is WikiProject London Transport which has now gained over 60 members. I am persistant but understanding. 7739, 30th January 2006 Match pending.
staffwaterboy (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-13 2008-05-13 I have always wanted to become a admin/sysop on Wikipedia it is my goal to do so one day i would think that it would be more helpful to learn how to do so in receiving help from someone who has experience and who has gone thought the process 5087, August 2,2006
Qaddosh (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-14 2008-05-14 I have recently noticed a bit of backlogging sometimes at WP:AIV and CAT:CSD and others like it. I have been editing on Wikipedia for over 3 years. I was content with being a confirmed user, but I have recently seen a need for adminship as I will be able to do more at Wikipedia. I also know that I would expand into other areas of adminship as a natural process of my curiosity. I seek some assistance in knowledge of adminship in general as well as WP:RFA. 2,145, January 18th, 2005
Startstop123 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-15 2008-07-03 I have been contributing to article content etc., but recently discovered how to revert vandalism. I feel that gaining adminship would enable me to complete that task more efficiently while still being able to actively contribute to and edit article content. Although I have a firm grasp on Wikipedia guidelines, etc., I would like to have an admin coach that could provide me with further Wikipedia guidance and information so I am up to the task of being an admin. 3,001, 4th April 2008
Basketball110 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-17 2008-05-17 I've had an RfA, was told to wait (I believe) a year by User:Rudget, so please don't consider me anywhere near the top of the priority list. I'm not going to list my entire persona to everyone here. about 11,500 edits or so, first on November 7, 2007
Xp54321 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-20 2008-06-21 Adminship is something I consider to be a very high personal goal other than improving Wikipedia. I see so much I could do as an admin. Admins however should be knowledgeable about Wikipedia which is why I am requesting a coach to help me learn and sometime in the future help me become an admin. 4,590, 4th March 2008

Hroðulf (talk · contribs · count · block log) (Hrothulf) 2008-06-15 2008-07-07 Please consider if I would be suitable for nomination or coaching. My initial areas of admin activity would be Requested moves#Backlog and WP:IFD. 5000, 27 July 2006 (with a long wikibreak for the first 9 months of 2007)
L'Aquatique (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-17 2008-06-17 So, I've been running into situations increasingly where it would be very helpful/time saving if I was an admin, but I'm not exactly a super-amazing model editor, so I figured I'd drop by here and see if I could get advice. I'm currently an active member of the Account Creation Team, part of WikiProject Accessibility and about seven or so other wikiprojects. I do some vandal/recent change patrols, graphic design work, well, pretty much everything, actually... 2,283, 2 November 2006
Rockfang (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-20 2008-07-20 I do some work with the cleanup aspects of WP:CFDS, WP:TFD/H, WP:CFD/WU, and WP:SFD. I also have a decent amount of knowledge regarding fair use and WP:NFCC. I have recently started dealing with WP:VANDAL. I would like to be an admin sometime in the future. Any information/guidance a potential Coach could give me would be appreciated. 10,246, 2007-09-24
Daedalus969 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-20 2008-06-20 t some point I wish to take up the mop to of course help fight the vandalism on WP. I have participated in a few AfDs. My normal day at WP usually revolves around using Lupin's Anti-Vandal tool to report and revert vandalism. I also patrol New Pages when I can, tagging where applical. I have had a few mishaps in the past, but I have only gotten/become better because of it. 1,972, 2007-04-23
Adolphus79 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-21 2008-07-13 While I have previously considered nominating myself for RfA in the past, I never really got around to it. Follow that with a couple wikibreaks, and I didn't believe I deserved adminship. Since I've become active again, I realized that I am now more interested in picking up that mop. 7293, 2006-04-17
OverlordQ (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-22 2008-06-22 Failed RfA back in Feb mainly due to lack of 'article building' which I feel is completely besides the point of performing the tasks set out for an admin. IMO admins are here to keep the site running smoothly, it doesn't take an admin to contribute content. 8563, April 6, 2004
Jaysweet (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-24 2008-07-17 Lately I've been doing a lot of work at dispute resolution and brokering compromise over at WP:WQA and WP:ANI. While I previously didn't really want the responsibility of being an admin, I am finding that it is occasionally limiting my ability to help out at those noticeboards. I have a very good feel for Wikipedia policies, and I have participated in noticeboards, AfDs, vandal patrolling, and copy-editing -- but I don't have a lot to show in terms of article-building and adding references, which is where I feel an RfA would come off the rails. I also have some, er, "baggage" that might interfere with an RfA, but I can discuss that if-and-when a coach accepts me. Cheers!
  • Update: This made me feel good, even though it was in the midst of a controversial situation.

Grey Wanderer (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-25 2008-07-03 Just wanting to explore the possibility, I mainly work in added content and coordinating WikiProjects but lately have been much more involved in patrolling and tagging Special:Newpages and Special:RecentChanges, also do a lot "revert and warn" using Twinkle. I'm particularly good at keeping a cool head in hot situations and while responding to personal attacks. Recently I've been put in several situations where I've acted as a mediator, and found I particularly enjoy brokering consensus. I'm not totally convinced I'm admin material mainly because I'm a content person, but I seem to be doing more work along those lines recently, and would like to prepare myself if I eventually decide it would be a good idea. Blakegripling ph (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-27 2008-06-27 I'm interested in becoming an admin, but it seems as though there are some things that I would like to learn in order for me to become one. I admit that I've done some mistakes (and at least one case of vandalism), but I'm willing to learn from my experiences. God Bless and thanks... 2,257; First contributed on 11:20, February 20, 2006

Albeiror24 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-06-30 2008-06-30 I love Wikipedia and I feel identified with its purpose as educational tool in free content. I work also in es.wikipedia and km.wikipedia. I want to do more for the project. 2008/06/10 16:54:34 (but I merged user account, before it was User:Elviajeropaisa and the first edition was on 2005/05/01 11:08:33)
BigHairRef (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-07-02 2008-07-22 I've been around WP for quite a while now, and more recently when I managed to build up a respectable edit count I managed to get access to anti-vandal tools originally in the form of VP but since that stopped working recently, I have switched to Huggle. I feel that I've made if not significant, then at least some substantial inroads in to vandal fighting where I would see myself as being the most active if ever being sysopped. I am reasonably familiar with some of the main policies such as WP:N, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:BLP, WP:V, WP:VANDAL, and less vital, but still important ones such as, WP:CIVIL,WP:AGF , WP:3RR, WP:DELETE, WP:U and WP:NOT. I think most of the good work I have done has been either in speedy tagging or vandal fighting and reports to WP:AIV although I have made contributions to WP:AFD and some other XfD in the past and at least a year ago to WP:GAC reviews. I have recently started doing these again. I'm hoping to learn the various ins and outs of being an admin beyond what I know, both to improve my editing now, and to become a sysop looking forwards due to an edit count which I believe would usually get rejected at WP:RFA regardless of qulity of edits currently. 2372 edits (including deleted edits)

Mifter (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-07-02 2008-07-02 I have been around on Wikipedia actively editing for just over 5 months now (I am an Account Creator and Rollbacker) and I am looking to become an admin in the future and am looking for help improving my editing so that I can pass a RfA (I have never yet attempted one yet). I am active on the Commons as well as here, and am active using WP:Huggle, on WP:RFA, WP:CSD, WP:AIV, WP:UAA, WP:ACC, Just to name a few. 7,129, First Edit February 4th 2008

KC Panchal (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-07-17 2008-07-19 I've had quite a bit of experience at editing the articles, but not much at administerial jobs like requesting for page deletion, page protection, etc. I want to learn the subtleties in these matters, and when I think I'm prepared might apply for adminship, too. Thanks in advance. PS: I have rollback rights, and occasionally do use MWT and Huggle. 2867 edits and first edit on 2007-02-04
