INS Satpura is a Shivalik class frigate of the Indian Navy, built at Mazagon Dock Limited.[4] Her keel was laid down in 2002, and she was launched on 4 June 2004.[5] She was handed over to the Indian Navy on 9 July 2011[6] and was commissioned on 20 August 2011.[4]
Upon commissioning, Satpura will be assigned to the Eastern Naval Command.[7]
Design
Satpura is 142.5 metres (468 ft) long, has a width of 16.9 metres (55 ft), displaces 4900 tons, and is capable of reaching a top speed of over 30 knots (35 mph).[5] She is armed with Barak missiles, an air defense system, light guns and anti-submarine armament.[4] She also carries a pair of Kamov Ka-31 helicopters.[5] Satpura is powered by a General Electric LM2500 gas turbine and an SEMT Pielstick diesel engine.[4] [[File:|thumb|left|]]
