[[Aurangzeb]] was appointed governor of [[Gujarat]] in 1648 A.D By [[Shah Jahan|Emperor Shah Jahan]]. Aurangzeb was accompanied by his orthodox team of staunch [[Sunni Islam|Sunnis]] and his teacher Abdul Qavi who was strong opponent of [[Shia Islam|Shia]]. The charges of [[heresy]] and [[Rafida]] laid against Syedna Qutbuddin. Syedna argued that the are not [[Rafida|Rafzi]], one who do not obey Prophet [[Muhammad]]'s Sunnah). The [[Kotwal]] (Chief Police Inspector) carried away six big carriages of books belonging to Syedna Qutbuddin to ascertain the charges against him. Syedna Qutbuddin was then invited to Aurangzeb's darbar for clarification. Syedna declared that they are the true followers of Prophet [[Muhammad]] and his [[Sunnah]]. According to Bohras, Abdul Qavi persuaded two innocent children from Syedna's family and presented before Qazi as witness. Qazi signed the mehdara unwillingly. Syedna Qutubkhan Qutubuddin Shaheed [1] (died: 27 Jumadil Akhir 1056 AH/ 1648 AD), Ahmedabad, India) was the 32 nd Da'i al-Mutlaq (Absolute Missionary) of the Dawoodi Bohra sect of Musta‘lī Islam. He succeeded, the 31 st Dai Syedna Kasimkhan Zainuddin Bin Feerkhan, to the religious post.
Syedna Qutubuddin was the only Dai with the honour of 'Shahadat'(martyrdom) amongst Duat Mutlaqeen. Just as Imam Husain(AS) was bestowed with the honour of saving Islam through martyrdom, so also Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed (R.A) got the honour of martyrdom at Ahmedabad, which is also known as small Karbala(the place of martyrdom of Imam Husain(AS)).[2]
Syedna Qutubuddin Shaheed became Da'i al-Mutlaq in 1054 AH / 1646AD. His period of Fatemi Dawat was from 1054 -1056 AH ( 1646-1648 AD).
Personal Life
Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed was born in Ahmedabad during the era of the 26th Dai Syedna Daud ibn Ajab - Shah, on the night of 30 th Zul - Qada 985 H.
During his youth, he accompanied his father, the 27 th Dai Syedna Daud ibn Qutub - Shah to Lahore to the court of the Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Akbar during the fitnat of Sulayman . Akbar had summoned Syedna Daud ibn Qutub - Shah to his court and ultimately issued a royal farmaan in his favor . Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed continued to serve his father Syedna Daud ibn Qutub - Shah devotedly throughout his era , and the four Dais who came after him . The 28th Dai Syedna Shaykh - Adam Safiyuddin bestowed on Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed the sharaf of haddiyyat. Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed’s brother, the 29th Dai Syedna Abdut - Tayyeb Zakiyuddin, kept him always at his side (The 30 th Dai Syedna Ali Shamsuddin was based in Yemen, and Syedna Qutbuddin continued to serve him). The 31st Dai, Syedna Qasim - Khan Zainuddin appointed him as his Mazoon, then also his Mansoos. Syedna Qasim - Khan passed away in Shawwal 1054H, and Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed became the 32nd Dai.
