Cars and trucks of normal size and speed (highway speed).
- AC Propulsion eBox, a li-ion powered conversion of a Toyota Scion xB with 150 mi (240 km) range, 95 mph (153 km/h) top speed and 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 7 seconds.
- Blade Electron. Australian Li-ion phosphate EV by Blade Electric Vehicles with 120 km (75 mi) range, 120 km/h (75 mph) top speed and 0-60 km/h (37 mph) in 7 seconds acceleration.[1]
- Tesla Roadster, USA and EU li-ion powered sports car by Tesla Motors with 244 mi (393 km) range, 125 mph (201 km/h) top speed and 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.9 seconds acceleration.
- BYD F3DM, China. The BYD F3DM is the world's first mass produced plug-in hybrid compact sedan which went on sale to government agencies and corporations on December 15, 2008 in China.[2] The F3DM is slated to go on sale in Europe during 2010 and in the USA during 2011.[3] The F3DM was introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.

- The Nissan Motor Company plans to sell the Nissan Leaf in the US and Japan by late 2010. In May 2008, Nissan's chief executive, Carlos Ghosn said they envisioned a broad range of electric vehicles, starting with small cars.[16]

- Phoenix Motorcars phoenixmotorcars.com based in Ontario, California, plans to build both a mid-sized SUV and an SUT (Sports Utility Truck) with 130 mile range for $45,000 using NanoSafe batteries from Altairnano. 500 cars are planned for delivery in early 2008 to fleet customers. A consumer version is planned for release in late 2008. 250+ mile range version also in development.

- At the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, Toyota debuted the FT-EV electric car based on the Toyota iQ microcar platform. They said a production version could be available by 2012.[21]

- Henney Kilowatt (1958–1960) the first modern (transistor-based) electric car, capable of highway speeds of up to 60 mph and outfitted with modern hydraulic brakes. Fewer than 100 of them were produced before production was discontinued in 1960.

Major vehicle manufacturers
DaimlerChrysler
On July 12, 2006, the DaimlerChrysler division SMART cars, announced that it would premiere a new Smart Fortwo EV at the British International Motor Show held at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre on 18 July.
The car will be made available on a lease arrangement to selected UK corporate customers with deliveries starting in November 2006. Up to 200 of the electric microcars will be built and delivered to the UK, which will serve as the trial market for the vehicle.
According to the DaimlerChrysler press release, the Smart EV sets a new benchmark in the electric vehicle sector; it has 30 kW output and a top speed of 70 mph. It offers even better in-town performance than its petrol powered stablemate, with 0-30 mph in 6.5 seconds. With a range of up to 72 miles, the Smart EV is exempt from vehicle excise duty and the London congestion charge.
The drive train for the Smart EV is produced in the UK by technology partner Zytek Group who undertake final assembly of the car in Fradley, near Lichfield.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors announced on May 11, 2005 that it will mass-produce its Mitsubishi In-wheel Electric Vehicle (MIEV). Test fleets are to arrive in 2006 and production models could be available in 2010. The first test car, revealed to be Colt EV, is expected to have a range of 93 miles using lithium-ion batteries and in-wheel electric motors. The target price of an MIEV is US$19,000, although no export decision has yet been made.[35] In July 2009, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV will go on sale to fleets in Japan and New Zealand, with availability to the general Japanese public beginning in April 2010. It uses a 16 kWh capacity lithium-ion battery.[36]

Bee Automobiles
Bee Automobiles, UK based battery electric car company founded by Stephen Voller the fuel cell entrepreneur. Bee Automobiles is planning three cars initially. The Bee One is a four seat family car, the BRM Bee Four ERV is a Martin Ogilvie designed electric racing car that will take part in the British Speed Hill Climb championship in 2010 and the Bee Four is a 2-seat track-day version of the BRM Bee Four ERV. Bee plans to revive the famous BRM brand.[43]
Miles Electric Vehicles
Miles Electric Vehicles, a Los Angeles based all electric vehicles manufacturer currently produces several low speed vehicles for military, university, municipal and private use. The company is also currently developing the XS500 electric vehicle, powered by lithium-ion phosphate batteries. It has a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles. The company says it plans to crash test the car and release it as a 2009 model with a minimum four star crash test safety rating. The projected price is $30,000 [44]
Tesla Motors
Tesla Motors, Silicon Valley automobile startup company, unveiled the 185 kW (248 hp) Tesla Roadster on July 20, 2006. As of March 2008, Tesla has begun regular production of the roadster.[45]
ZAP
ZAP produces several electric vehicles, most notably, the Xebra three-wheel electric vehicle, which is classified as a motorcycle. Top speed is 40 mph, cost about $11,000.[46] According to reports have sold about 800 through USA dealers.
