This is a comprehensive index of commercial console role-playing games, sorted chronologically. Information regarding date of release, developer, publisher, platform, sub-genre and notability is provided where available. The table can be sorted by clicking on the small boxes next to the column headings. This list does not include computer RPGs—unless they were also released on a console. It does include action RPGs, tactical RPGs, roguelikes and MMORPGs.
Early Japanese personal computer systems, such as the NEC PC-8801, NEC PC-9801, MSX and FM Towns are also included.
