The Divine Comedy: "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"; don't expect a fair hearing, or justice if or when you err. Just give what you can, while you can. If you get shafted, go fishing, because your efforts will not be appreciated, whereas if you catch a fish, you can always eat it, and that's a result, even if it's only for today.

"In popular culture"

Thinking of adding a section or item? Please think carefully before doing that; this is an excellent example of what we could end up with. "In popular culture" can be a lazy excuse for adding non-notable trivia in general. Such additions at least should be sourced, and also shown to be relevant to an understanding of the topic of the article, per WP:NOT (specifically "an indiscriminate collection of information"). Too many articles tend to be dustbins for all sorts of this nonsense. An excellent example of specific advice can be found here.

Hi, I'm a graduate of Manchester Polytechnic & University of York who is interested in lots of things, which makes me useful for pub quizzes but not very employable. I've been editing here since 8th August 2007.[2]

The Original Barnstar
I just have to give you this for all of the time and effort you put into reverting the (sadly far too frequently occuring) cases of vandalism on Bono. You seem to beat me to it all the time, and it's fantastic that it vanishes almost straight after it appears. Good job, and keep it going! 1. ^ "The Graham Norton Show". 2009-02-04. Dave TV. {{cite episode}}: Missing or empty |series= (help)
  2. ^ At present, I believe that the article "cunt" is an acid test of what we are trying to achieve here, and if I can take that to Good Article status, I will be happy. I said this some time ago, but I hope I've managed to improve it. Meanwhile, I don't have the time to concentrate on it. There are more important concerns. One day, perhaps.
  3. ^ I may have heard this elsewhere, but only on watching "Heroes of Comedy: The Goons" on TV recently did I realise where it originated; however, I make no apologies for using it, because Spike Milligan almost single-handedly created modern British comedy.
  4. ^ updated 8 January 2011
  5. ^ 12 March 2011; but it isn't just about quantity; quality also matters on on that, I am more than confident.
  6. ^ But it keeps me cheerful in the face of adversity
  7. ^ 100 as of 13 April 2009, 48 of which are substantive [1]
  8. ^ 50 @ 29 August 2008
