The discography of T.I., an American rapper, songwriter, producer, actor, and co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records,[1] consists of seven studio albums, two extended plays, twenty singles, two compilation albums, one collaboration album, and thirty-three music videos. His music has been released on Arista Records, and Atlantic Records, along with his record label Grand Hustle Records.
T.I. was discovered and signed when he was a teenager by record executive Kawan "KP" Prather.[2] Upon signing with Arista Records subsidiary LaFace Records in 2001, he shortened his name to T.I. out of respect for labelmate Q-Tip.[3] In 2001, T.I. released his debut album, I'm Serious. The album peaked at number ninety-eight on the Billboard 200 chart and sold about 270,000 copies in the United States.[4] Due to poor sales, T.I. asked for a joint venture deal with Arista or be released from his contract; he was subsequently dropped from the label.[5][6] In 2003, T.I. launched Grand Hustle Entertainment (now Grand Hustle Records) with his longtime business partner Jason Geter and signed a new deal with Atlantic Records.[7][8] He then collaborated with fellow Atlanta rapper Bone Crusher for the song "Never Scared" which also featured another Atlanta rapper, Killer Mike. The song became a hit for the summer of 2003, peaking at number twenty-six in the US, marking T.I.'s first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100. His unforgettable, versatile lyrics from the song gave him enough buzz to release his second album on his newly founded record label.[citation needed]
T.I. released his first album on Grand Hustle/Atlantic, Trap Muzik, in 2003. It contained the lead single "24's", which had peaked at number seventy-eight on the Billboard Hot 100, his first solo entry there. Trap Muzik debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), making it more successful than his previous effort. The other singles from the album, "Rubberband Man" and "Let's Get Away", made impact on the Hot 100, while Be Easy charted only on Billboard's R&B chart. His next album, Urban Legend, was released in 2004 and included the lead single "Bring 'Em Out", which peaked at number nine in the US and was certified platinum. The album peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the US. The other singles from Urban Legend, "U Don't Know Me" and "ASAP", made an impact on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2006, King debuted at number one and was certified gold in its first week.[9] The lead single, "What You Know" peaked at number three in the US, and was certified double-platinum. King was certified platinum in the US, and gold by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. His other singles included "Why You Wanna", "Live in the Sky", and "Top Back". Later that year, he earned his first number-one US single for his collaboration with Justin Timberlake, "My Love".
T.I. released his second number-one album, T.I. vs. T.I.P., in 2007. The lead single "Big Shit Poppin' (Do It)" peaked at number nine in the US. The album was certified platinum in the US and gold in Canada. The other singles from the album included "You Know What It Is" and "Hurt". In 2008, his third number-one album in the United States, Paper Trail, was released and was certified gold in its first week.[10] The album included two number-one singles with four top-five singles overall: "Whatever You Like", Swagga Like Us", "Live Your Life", and "Dead and Gone". It was certified double-platinum in the US, platinum in Canada, and gold in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. In 2009, Paper Trail was re-released as an EP in the UK entitled Paper Trail: Case Closed, which included two singles and three songs off the original album. In 2010, while serving eleven months in prison for probation violation,[citation needed] he released his seventh studio album, No Mercy on December 7, 2010. No Mercy included lead single "Get Back Up, which featured American singer Chris Brown, and which peaked at number seventy in the US; and second single "That's All She Wrote", which included rapper Eminem, and which peaked at number eighteen in the US. The album debuted at number four in America and was certified gold by the RIAA.
