The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is a British museum based in Walthamstow, London.The museum focuses on the pioneering achievements in road, rail, air and sea transport in Waltham Forest & the surrounding aera including the Lea Valley from the early 19th century. The aim of the museum is to show case how the coming of how the industrial development affected the Waltham Forest, the surrounding aera and it's people. The museum contains many different areas displaying various artifacts including Routmaster Buses, a pair of Marshall C class steam engines, and various fire fighting vehicles.
The museum is contained in and around Low Hall Pumping Station, a sewage pumping station dating from 1885, whose buildings are Grade II listed. The pumping station still contains a pair of rare Marshall C class steam engines as mentioned above.
The museum previously operated as The Pump House Steam and Transport Museum Trust and is still under development. It remains open for public viewing at certain times. [1]
