== Peter Kennard @earth image ==

Hi there...perhaps we ought to clarify the origin of that image and contest that it is non-free. We are part of the team that created the book and the work itself and loaded the image onto Wiki at around the time of its release. Peter is also a firm believer in copy-left with regards to his work and although there is no 'site' that says this, there are a number of articles that quote it.
Would be great if you could reinstate it. It is more representative of his more recent work than others.
Would also be great if you could perhaps show us how to upload more images [marked ccbynd perhaps] for future use.

Thanks!

deletion of uploaded image that is not used

hi could you please delete an image that i have uploaded with my previous username. there is no use of that image any longer. could you please let me know wether you can do that so that i can provide you with the the image and username. thanks :) Fkcuter123 (talk) 05:42, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

I see three options:
  • You can log in with that username and mark it with a {{db}} tag (I think it's {{db-author}})
  • You could nominate it for deletion, either mentioning that you were the uploader or not, as an orphaned image
  • just leave it sitting out there until someone else comes along and decides it is not needed.
Hope this helps.  ★  Bigr Tex 19:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

wow wow so long ago you gave the answer and i did not check. if you are still around leave me a message. i am REALLY sorry that i did not get back to you. maybe you could run me through the steps. i dont know how to add the tag. if you login anytime soon, give me a shout and maybe you can help me. thanks Fkcuter123 (talk) 04:49, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

New image project

Hi. This little note is just to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. In addition, I'm proposing merging Wikipedia:WikiProject Image Monitoring Group, because their aims seem to be very similar. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Discussion about redirecting those projects is located here. Thanks. Better source request for File:HardWorkinMan.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:19, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:01, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Notification of automated file description generation

Your upload of File:BigrTex-Title.PNG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Great American Wiknic 2014 - Austin

I'd like to invite you to add an Austin event for the Great American Wiknic. This year we're aiming to coalesce nationally around July 6, but any date that is convenient to your local community works as well. And don't be shy about putting something preliminary on the national Wiknic page, it all helps!--Pharos (talk) 05:16, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Please explain this close

I don't see a consensus to delete. Samsara 11:18, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Sure, I'm happy to explain. After being open for 40 days and with no discussion for almost half of that, some administrator needed to step in and make a call. I reviewed the Deletion guidelines for administrators, and specifically the section on Rough Consensus: "Consensus is not determined by counting heads, but by looking at strength of argument, and underlying policy (if any). Arguments that contradict policy, are based on opinion rather than fact, or are logically fallacious, are frequently discounted." In reviewing the arguments about Radon.jpg, those that spoke to the underlying policy (specifically [[WP:NFCC#1|]]) were weighted more than those that pointed out that it would be extremely difficult to replace the image, a point which I believe is inherent in the policy.  ★  Bigr Tex 14:46, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Regarding File:Black Rhinoceros.jpg, this image was uploaded in 2005. We didn't really have these processes in place back then and the editing base was mostly much more conscious of such things, to the point where if someone from 2005 says they obtained a GFDL permission from the copyright holder and there is no evidence to the contrary, I'm usually inclined to take that at face value. Also, I am pretty sure, from looking at the deleted revisions of File:Thames Ditton Railway Bridge, United Kingdom.jpg that Etimbo is Tim Rogers. Certainly, the person who had it moved it to Commons thought so, as he or she credited the image as "Tim Rogers, aka Etimbo at en.wikipedia". --B (talk) 21:09, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Houston Community College, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page San Jacinto High School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

bsd. Although i made both edits, they were in completely different and unrelated instances, a few months apart. I'm not familiar with gallery policy for logos, and i didn't realize that the only reason the other logo under "Previous logos" was there, was because it's not eligible for copyright. Neither did i see that you had removed it. Sorry for the inconvenience. --Ben Stone 02:15, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
