The Crown is an upcoming American-British[1] television drama series, created and written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures for Netflix.[2] The show is a biographical story about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.[3] The first season will consist of ten one-hour episodes, and is scheduled to be released in its entirety on November 4, 2016.[4][5]
Premise
The Crown will trace the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 to the present day. It is expected to span 60 episodes over 6 seasons, with Claire Foy playing the Queen in the early part of her reign.[6]

Production
Peter Morgan, who wrote 2006 film The Queen and the recent stage play The Audience, is the main writer for the script, and director Stephen Daldry was also involved in the production.[13] The first 10-part season will be the most expensive drama produced by Netflix to date.[14]
