Ways to improve About Time (mixtape)

Hi, I'm Atlantic306. AgWoolridge, thanks for creating About Time (mixtape)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. itunes and twitter are not reliable sources so please replace with better references as per WP:Reliable sources

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Image tagging for File:Billie Eilish Los Angeles 2017.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Billie Eilish Los Angeles 2017.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:30, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stub tags

Please take care not to add {{stub}} to an article like Homemade Dynamite which already has a specific stub tag, as you did in this edit. Please also note that all stub tags belong at the end of the article, not the top - see WP:ORDER. Thanks. PamD 07:58, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! I didn't see that it was already there. AgWoolridge (talk) 02:20, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited La Cigale, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page English (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Music venues in Oregon

Be careful adding the category "Music venues in Oregon" to articles already tagged as being "Music venues in Portland, Oregon". Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:20, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How do you not understand?

I am citing Wikipedia manual of style, which is what we must follow! You seem to be against any change that I make, for your own preferred edit. Just because other pages do things doesn't mean all should. Did you even bother to read MOS:DONTHIDE or WP:OSE? Important information should not be hidden. livelikemusic talk! 02:27, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not just the hidden text, it's the fact that you keep writing "Variations listed below" which does not make sense, there are more variations than the ones listed. "It does not represent all concerts for the duration of the tour" makes more sense to the reader. Also, "notes" are hidden in most major tour articles because they are not essential information for the reader. They are simply extra information. I am in no way trying to take ownership over articles, sorry if it seems like that. We just have different opinions. AgWoolridge (talk) 03:11, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Again, just because other articles do something does not mean it is automatically right and/or rule. The MOS dominates and is the guideline for which we must follows. Per WP:OSE and DONTHIDE, the notes should not be hidden. Your point about the variations, to me, makes no sense, as the statement does not state [Inset variation amount] Variations listed below, it simply states Variations listed below, which is appropriate. livelikemusic talk! 03:18, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Kehlani SweetSexySavage Tour 2017 dates.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kehlani SweetSexySavage Tour 2017 dates.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Lana Del Rey discography does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Ss112 12:50, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I forgot to add reasons! Those songs never received any single or radio release, if you have any proof of them being official singles let me know. Thanks for your feedback AgWoolridge (talk) 12:54, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is no Wikipedia policy stating radio releases are required for songs to be singles; WP:SINGLE? is an essay and not policy. These songs were referenced, at least once upon a time, as being singles on their articles, otherwise they would not have been added to the discography in the singles section. Even if you disagree, it would be best to discuss their single status on Talk:Lana Del Rey discography. Ss112 12:55, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, none of these criterias listed on WP:PROMOSINGLE for a single apply to those songs:
  • Serviced to US radio with an official radio add date;
  • Distributed and sold by the label as a CD single or 7" or 12" single;
  • Promoted as a single and listed as a single in several publications;
  • Digital release that is similar to the release of previous singles.

I'll start a discussion so feel free to contribute if you have any proof of them being singles! AgWoolridge (talk) 12:59, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but as I just said, WP:PROMOSINGLE (which is the same as WP:SINGLE?) is an essay (as in, a suggestion written by one user) and not accepted as Wikipedia policy. Ss112 13:05, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know if there's any official Wikipedia policy related to this topic? AgWoolridge (talk) 13:11, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there is, but I wish there were so editors could have a consistent agreement on what constitutes a single. Ss112 13:18, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss first before reverting

Please open discussions first before continuing to edit war in future. This isn't good practice for newer editors. Also, WP:ANI isn't the place to request page moves. Read WP:MOVE or request at WP:RM/TR if it's a technical request. Ss112 06:42, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Creative Commons images from Flickr

Images from flickr that have appropriate Creative Commons licenses, such as File:Verite Troubadour 2017.jpg are normally uploaded directly to Wikimedia Commons. I ran the process to upload it to Wikimedia Commons. There is an automated tool on Wikimedia Commons that verifies that a flickr image is allowable so its idea to upload it there directly. I will now manually perform the verification process. Thanks for bringing a great image to Wikipedia. Feel free to ping me anytime with questions about images as I am admin on both the English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Royalbroil 02:23, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ANI Experiences survey

Beginning on November 28, 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) will be conducting a survey to en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

(AgWoolridge moved page About Time (Sabrina Claudio album) to About Time (mixtape) over redirect: Billed as mixtape through iTunes, referred to as "project" by Claudio herself. Hi, sorry please explain as I'm not clear on this: Where is the WP guideline that says that albums listed as "mixtape" on iTunes are not albums for Wikipedia purposes? This is a collection of original songs being sold by an artist, described by Billboard as an "album", in what way is it not an album? I don't get it. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:19, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! The difference between a mixtape and an official studio album has a lot of gray area and is very loosely defined. When released, About Time was referred to by iTunes as a mixtape and by Sabrina Claudio herself as a "project" and not explicitly an album, it was not promoted as an album or received a physical release. There was no consensus on the talk page to move the article so if you want to move it you should make a requested move. Thanks! AgWoolridge (talk) 09:28, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. This seems to me like a bit too fine-tuning for en.wp purposes for WP:AT purposes, but be interesting to find out how others see it. No problem, am quite happy to put it to discussion, Cheers! Happy new year. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:42, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent uploads of images

Hi, just letting you know that in a few months to a few years, a bot (most likely DatBot) will resize all the images you have uploaded recently that exceed 300×300 pixels (and delete the original revisions of the images). I've noticed a few you've uploaded, like the art for the remix of "Havana", are 316×316 pixels. Even an added 16 pixels width and height is considered enough to be tagged for reduction in size (either Datbot or the user Ronhjones will usually tag them). It's happened to a few images of mine. So if you can, you should probably try to aim for 300×300. Ss112 08:32, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The maximum for square non-free images is actually 316×316 and it's what DatBot has been resizing images over the maximum to. AgWoolridge (talk) 08:38, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Where does it state the maximum for square non-free images is 316×316? I've had quite a few of mine resized to 300×300, and it's what Template:Infobox album recommends: "The width of the image should usually be 220–300px; for a square image, 300 is ideal." Ss112 08:51, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have always seen DatBot resize them to 316×316, just by looking at their activity log I can see that File:Decades (concept album) cover.jpeg and File:Shiorigoto Best cover.jpg were both recently resized to those dimensions. Maybe the maximum used to be 300×300 and it has changed. If a file is over the maximum, a bot will resize them in a matter of hours and none of the ones I've uploaded to 316×316 have been resized. AgWoolridge (talk) 09:02, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The ones I uploaded took months, some years, for the bot to find, so I don't think all are hours later. Ss112 10:16, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
