Name and Etymology
The place name ოშკი (ošḳi; IPA: ɔʃkʼi) is Laz word and means "dog rose" (rosa canina), which corresponds to Georgian ასკილი (asḳili) and Kartvelian *ასკილ- (*asḳil-).[16]
