double checking

Hi Hickory Ought Shirt,

I am just double checking to things: did I re-submit the article correctly on March 10? and, did I ping you correctly just a few moments ago, using my talk page, clicking on the "new section" tab? I kept the parenthesis. I will now try again without the parenthesis. @HickoryOughtShirt?4: Now now I am on your talk page.

Eventually I will understand this, I hope.

Prof Mo Lill (talk) 21:03, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Prof Mo Lill, I am so sorry. You did but I completely forgot to reply. You will need to fix all those citation needs tags before it can be accepted though. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:10, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That is really good news, thank you! I understand about the citation needed tags - I wasn't sure how to handle that. A couple of the main ones were held up for technical reasons at the source; I have been assured that those glitches are being fixed today or tomorrow. Three questions for you: First question -- Lillard's fellowship at the Huntington Library was confirmed by a librarian there, and she said "yes, he was a fellow," and gave the dates. Then I said, "do you have a citation I can use for Wikipedia, and she said, "this email should suffice." That seems odd to me. Is she correct? How would I cite her email? Just show it to you? It all seems irregular. Second question - if it gets too hard to find the citations, may I just remove the sentence from the entry? Third question -- some of Lillard's most important work is proving elusive to give a citation for - e.g. his work drafting a municipal code to preserve hillsides from erosion. So I have just left it out. I wondered if I should put it in and write "citation needed," in the hopes that someone else had one - but that seemed unlikely! Did I make the correct choice? Thanks again for your help.
Prof Mo Lill (talk) 19:53, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Prof Mo Lill, that was smart of you to use the CN tag but it won't be accepted if they are on there. Wikipedia allows the use of online sources (Wikipedia:Offline sources) so you can directly source the municipal code to preserve hillsides from erosion if his name is on it. However, the email likely won't work because it is inaccessible to anyone besides you and the Huntington Library librarian. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:51, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, It's funny but I get the hang of wikipedia and then I forget. So now I can't remember how to re-submit the article to you, and can barely remember how to get in touch with you. I guess it's a system I'm just not used to. Anyway, I am ready to re-submit, but need (embarrassedly) to ask for help on how to do that. Prof Mo Lill (talk) 19:16, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Prof Mo Lill, no worries, we've all been there. Please click the Submit your draft for review! button on User:Prof Mo Lill/sandbox. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:23, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I did as you said. I hope it gets to you and not to "some stranger." That is funny because I now feel that I know you. I took out things I did not have a great citation for. Am I correct that as I find those citations, I can edit the entry? But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I hope this draft meets the standards. Thanks for your patience and help.

Rejection of article and resubmission

Hi, Previously you have rejected my draft on Akshita Mudgal. That was my first submission and I was not sure on all the changes I could make. I added some citations and references and resubmitted it. I am not sure if I resubmit an article it will go back to your bucket. Could you please review my article and help me if any improvements are needed in it WikiEditor0809 (talk) 09:45, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello HickoryOughtShirt, Will you please review my draft? WikiEditor0809 (talk) 03:59, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiEditor0809, If you have resubmitted it, someone will get to it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:36, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of NHL franchise post-season droughts

Is there any chance that you would consider temporarily semi-protecting this article for about three weeks? The usual yearly disruptive edits from IP editors has begun in this article. Deadman137 (talk) 12:39, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deadman137, done for a month. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:21, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Martin Fehérváry

On 29 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Martin Fehérváry, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Martin Fehérváry (pictured) became the youngest foreign player to play in the Swedish Hockey League following his debut at the age of 16? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Martin Fehérváry. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Martin Fehérváry), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

In which my luck catches up with me

My sudden drop off the face of the earth: after years of good luck, I was involved in my first real motorcycle accident. In the grand scheme of things, I am fine. Helmets are a very good invention. The bike is just a bike and will be repaired in the next few weeks. In the immediate future, however, I should let you know that my on-Wiki time will be limited; among other things, my left arm is in a sling from awkwardly breaking my fall, and I am supposed to limit my screen time in case I'm concussed. I don't think I am, but not something I'd want to play with. I'd say the timing is inconvenient considering the Cup playoffs are about to start, but, well, it's not like my team is involved... The only win I'm taking is that Auston Matthews got to see Joel Embiid thrash the Raptors last night. — GhostRiver 16:21, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

GhostRiver, oh no! This is why I chose rollerblading over biking . Well, we will definitely miss you as the playoffs begin, still super impressed with your Connor McDavid improvements. Next is Malkin? Get well soon!HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:42, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's no parking in South Philly, so I thought the vroom vroom bike would be a good way to avoid that mess. I'm impressed I made it 4 1/2 years without an accident. And I might have to buck up a little before I let myself work on a Pen. Realistically next is Tyler Seguin, my favorite emotional support himbo (well, maybe second to Cody Bellinger. — GhostRiver 18:49, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
GhostRiver, That's fair, lol forgot about his team. Don't forget, only steers and queers in Texas. I think I'm bouncing between Oscar Klefbom, Chris Driedger, and Roope Hintz. It sucks that I now have the motivation to write when I am likely eliminated from the WP:CUP. Convinced someone in the Kraken discord to upload their pics to Flickr so I have some great pics to work with. Same with LA Kings. The Dallas Discord seems pretty dead tbh. Happy Adminship Anniversary!

oh dear i submitted wrong

Oh dear, I submitted wrong and some other person rejected because he saw that you were already reviewing. Is there a way I can submit to you specifically? I will try various things on my end, but not til Monday evening (at the earliest).Prof Mo Lill (talk) 18:21, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to hear from you again Prof Mo Lill! No worries about time constraints, on Wikipedia there are no deadlines. In regards to your submission, I still see various unsourced statements in Early life and family. I also recommend removing the red links under Published Books as well as making the capital B a lowercase per MOS:HEAD. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:38, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok on the red links and the lowercase. Am not clear about unsourced statements in Early Life and family - what more do you need - does the link to his bio on the Cal State Emeritus cover it? How do I prove where he was born and went to school? Prof Mo Lill (talk) 02:01, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a link to his bio will work. If you cannot find a source for the information, it cannot be added to Wikipedia. This is due to our verifiability policy. For example, if someone were to say he was born in 1918 how can we prove that is false? We need sources to verify the information. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:02, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I will link to his bio - or is his obituary better? Does wikipedia prefer one or the other? And, is one citation at the end of the paragraph good enough, or at the end of each sentence? THANKS again for your patience and help. Prof Mo Lill (talk) 02:06, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2022 May newsletter

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  1. New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
  2. Christmas Island AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
  3. Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
  4. Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
  5. Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
  6. United States Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
  7. England Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.

The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
