Welcome, and some advice

[edit]

I see you are writing articles on various companies in the medical field. As reviewing administrator, I need to call your attention to our guidelines on Conflict of Interest, WP:COI , of which paid editing is a prime example. As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. If you think you can do it right according to our guidelines, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity, and for the presence of sources that show notability. The best way of rewriting is to use the WP:Article Wizard, which will guide you towards an acceptable article if one is possible. See our general guides to writing articles, WP:PLAIN and WP:FIRST; see also our list of the things we don't do here, WP:NOT, and our practical guide to conflict of interest, WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide

As for the specifics of your articles:

A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. these need to be more than mere announcements,or the routine publication of financial data, or an information page on a business news service. The Reuters andYahoo news services are of this nature: the company summaries there contain the information the companies send it, and are not independently reliable sources. If you have good sources, it may be possible to rewrite the article; otherwise, it will not be possible to write an acceptable article. This cannot be simply implied from the size of the company, or membership in a stock exchange, especially NASDQ. The Reuters description or the company;s website are good sources for the routine facts about the company ,but they do not show it notable-- for the guideline here see WP:N

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject, or to prospective clients/purchasers/students/supporters/donors--that sort of content is considered promotional. The details of the various official of a company are of this nature. For an encyclopedia, it is enough to say who the chief executive is. Other officers change from time to time, and the place for the information is the company's web site. Avoid adjectives of praise. If a company is a "leading" one , the article will show it. Avoid jargon. Any article referring to "solutions" is suspect. Avoid linking common words, such as "company". Avoid opinion "And the balance sheet remained strong " can be used only in a direct quote from an authority, and the CEO of the company is not a suitable authority for this. (these examples are from Cutura.)

As matters of style, we write articles in paragraphs, and use tables only for tabular data or information that needs such a form of organization. We do not use titles in referring to people. For example, the president of Sirona is Jeffrey T. Slovin, not Mr. Jeffrey T. Slovin, and if there is occassion to mention him a second time, he would be called Slovin. The references and external links do not duplciate each other; the necessary external link is the copany;s own website.

In the article on Sirona Dental Systems, you give information about a 19th century firm that made the first Sray tubes--but it is not clear what connection this has Sirona. If there is some connection, say so.

I'm not sure all of the articles you have recently been working on are sufficiently notable for WP , but I deferring listing them for deletion to give you a chance to fix them. DGG ( talk ) 01:12, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Student project

[edit]

Hello, Helen1023 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! --Tryptofish (talk) 16:30, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on FuelCell Energy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:26, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article FuelCell Energy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of significance or importance. Being a public traded company does not assert notability. Routine stock market reports, corporate listings, and press releases. Fails WP:GNG, WP:ORG, and WP:ORGDEPTH.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deletion discussion about Copano Energy LLC

[edit]

Hello, Helen1023,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Copano Energy LLC should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Copano Energy LLC .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, ColonelHenry (talk) 04:49, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, ColoneHenry, I am afraid that I can't agree with your comments. I think this page should exist in Wikipedia for 2 reasons. First, it is a public company that the information about it should be available in this place for investors and other people to collect. Secondly, the acquisition of it by Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP is a huge transaction and KMEP has a page in Wikipedia, which can support the notability of the company. Therefore, I conclude that it needs time to be improved but can't be deleted for it can provide useful information to wikipedians.

Thanks! (Helen1023 (talk) 16:03, 28 January 2014 (UTC))[reply]

The deletion of pages

[edit]

Hello, I just saw the message you left to me and know that you had deleted all the pages I tried hard to create recently. Your deletion reason is that I may violate the Wikipedia copyright policy. I beg to disagree with you. I had rewritten the content before I created each page and I spent average 2 hours for creating each page. The content mainly comes from Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, Google News and SEC. I have spent much time and efforts when creating the pages for non-profit purpose, but just wanted to contribute knowledge to Wikipedia and complete my assignment. If you think there is some improper content which may violate the copyright in the page, wouldn't you think it is better to tell me first, and I may try to improve it, instead of just deleting the all without any permission of the creator, which I think is quite disrespectful to me.

I still appreciate your suggestions and I want to improve my pages. Could you tell me the way to recover the pages you deleted? I have spent much time and efforts on creating them, and it will be a huge burn on me if I just recreate them again. I think it will be kind of you if you tell me the parts that you think I may violate the original copyright, and then I will modify my content, rather than just deleting all the pages. I hold my view that my pages are of value and need to be left in Wikipedia. Best Regards.Helen1023 (talk) 04:34, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've responded to the above message as duplicated on my talk page. This notice is to let you know that I have now deleted the MWI Veterinary Supply article due to blatant copyright violation taken whole and in part from the source. Some tools you may want to check out include the Duplication Detector and the Copyvio Detector. You may also consider taking specific phrases and sentences of each article and running them through a google search. Please review the copyright policy located here, as well as here. Cindy(talk) 05:38, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I have read the pages you mentioned in your message and got to know DMCA and the Terms of Use of Wikipedia. I acknowledge that I have used some improper paraphrase ways when I created the pages, and I appreciate that you have reminded me of that. I will improve my ways of creating pages and try not to violate the copyright policy any more. BTW, Thanks for the tools you suggested to me to test copyright violation. Now I have two questions: a) If I create new pages which I try to paraphrase and write in the ways that don't violate copyright policy, when shall I start? b) As for the pages which have been deleted, if I rewrite them in the subpage of my userspace, can they be the same pages that everybody can search and read? I am still a student, so there are still many things and rules that I don't know and need to learn, thanks for your understanding and help. Best Regards. Helen1023 (talk) 08:27, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I have read the terms of use about copyright and will conform to the relevant rules. Could I start creating new pages? Helen1023 (talk) 08:03, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hey there! Hope you had a great weekend! I've taken a look at your sandbox. I went ahead and created three different drafts. It makes it quite a bit easier to create one article in a sandbox at a time. You can see these drafts at:
You still have the articles in your sandbox, but I wanted to give you a visual of some copyediting and formatting recommendations to bring them into compliance with the Manual of Style. Let me know if you have questions. Best regards, Cindy(talk) 15:10, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

*Hi, Cindy. Thanks for you advice and draft, which is really of help to me. I submitted the pages in my sandbox, but the admin rejected them due to insufficient notability. I think I have tried my best to search reliable and independent secondary sources. What else can I do to enhance notability of my pages? Besides, Can I create new pages in Wikipedia, instead of sandbox? As for your drafts, can I use it to create new pages in Wikipedia, or I need to rewrite them? Best RegardsHelen1023 (talk) 02:38, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, Cindy. Thank you for helping to create the page Alliance One International. I adopted your draft partly and did some further improvement in the page. Thanks to you, I learned a lot things about how to write qualified pages in Wikipedia and most importantly, I learned how to write new things in my own ways instead of copy and paste with a few modifications. Thank you a lot! :)Helen1023 (talk) 14:20, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decent stub. Maybe notify WikiProject Vermont and WikiProject Energy

To reply, leave a comment on 0x0077BE's talk page.

There's a few ways to do it, in general what you want to do is ask the relevant wikiprojects to list it for assessment. If you go to the WikiProject Vermont site, you'll see that they don't have an "Assessment" section, so the best thing to do is to leave a message in a new section on their talk page with a brief message indicating that you've created a new article you think is relevant to their wikiproject, they'll take it from there. You can also mention specifically that it needs assessment.
You can do the same thing for WP:WikiProject Energy, but since Energy is a bigger WikiProject, they have the tasks divided up more finely, and you're probably better off going to the "Assessment Page" and following the instructions in the section on requesting an assessment. Good luck with your future edits, and thanks again for your contributions to Wikipedia! 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 15:15, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Cutera

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cutera requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

The article Trinity Biotech has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject fails WP:CORP. Sources appear to be limited to financial websites quoting stock prices. A Google turned up a large number of similar hits and a few very brief articles reporting financial returns for the company or press releases, but nothing that rang the notability bell. Please expand this article with material backed by in depth coverage from reliable and verifiable sources that establish the encyclopedic notability of its subject, or it may be deleted. See also WP:RS and WP:V.

Please expand this article with material backed by in depth coverage from reliable and verifiable sources that establishes the encyclopedic notability of its subject, or it may be deleted. See also WP:RS and WP:V.

Non-notable Article Subjects

[edit]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that I have run into a couple of articles recently created by you that do not appear to meet Wikipedia standards for encyclopedic notability. See WP:N and WP:CORP. The sources in both cases were limited to pages quoting basic financial information about the companies and press releases. As such they fail to provide evidence of notability. See WP:RS and WP:V. These articles have been tagged for proposed deletion. When creating new articles please ensure that the subjects are notable and that evidence of that is clearly presented in the article, backed by in depth coverage from properly cited reliable and verifiable sources. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Best regards -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:46, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aetrium, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. A tag has been placed on Internet Gold Golden Lines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
