Real names for drugs

Valium is diazepam. To be consistent with other drugs' names in the list, and to be mindful of the fact that not every reader is American and that diazepam has other trade names in other countries, both names should be listed. Grassynoel (talk) 04:15, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per MOS:RETAIN, the fact that not every reader is American is not a reason to alter what the source itself actually says, especially for an article with strong American ties, sourcing an American doctor who use an American description. It also isn't something that is exclusive to American readers: Australia, the UAE, the Netherlands, just to name three random examples, specifically use valium as a term. With that in mind the fact that not every reader is American isn't a reason to modify this, as not every non-American is unfamiliar with such a term, and if they are unsure what it is, it is conveniently wikilinked to provide additional information. Also your rationale that it would make it consistent with other drug names in the list is also inaccurate, as thorazine for example is just a brand name for chlorpromazine, so there's no consistency being adhered to by making your proposed change. - Aoidh (talk) 11:35, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan killed after shooting

"Ryan was killed after being shot more than twenty times." If he was killed after the shooting, perhaps it would be relevant to specify the actual cause of death. Or was he indeed killed by being shot, which is not what is written here? 46.114.180.209 (talk) 20:32, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft at the airstrip

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-6_Twin_Otter Section Accidents and incidents there were two DHC-6 at the airstrip, one of them escaping. According to this, there was only one (which was destroyed), and a Cessna. Which one is correct? 2001:7D0:8880:8B00:A995:159C:BB67:900F (talk) 21:30, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously false figured in the lead

First paragraph:

"on November 18, 1978, a total of 909 people died at the settlement, at the nearby airstrip in Port Kaituma, and at a Temple-run building in Georgetown, Guyana's capital city."

Second paragraph:

"In total, 918 individuals died in Jonestown,"

These figures should be probably swapped to be true. 94.254.153.4 (talk) 08:03, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would call that an inconsistency that should certainly be rectified, but I'm puzzled as to why swapping them out would make them accurate. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:09, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, after looking at the sources I think i actually do see your point. I thought they were contradicting each other but it seems the 909 number refers to deaths in Jonestown itself, while 918 died in total when related incidents are added in. I'll try and clear it up in the text. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:14, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Intro poor

It does not say 'why' the mass suicides/killings took place. What was the reason for it? Why was the order given? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:BB18:A600:E738:4C0D:38F4:6829 (talk) 16:32, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
