Hi there, I saw you recently edited some pages on this project. As it was declared inactive a few weeks ago, I'm trying to get a list of more participants so that the list does see progress. I thought you may be interested in signing your name (to make the project look more active), and hopefully occasionally working on stuff to help make our music coverage more complete. AfD nomination of Spartak Tennis Club

Spartak Tennis Club, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Spartak Tennis Club satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Spartak Tennis Club and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Spartak Tennis Club during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Law/Disorder 22:34, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Allen Cohen

Well, I really copied this text, but from the mail sent to me by the composer. I didn't know that it has been published.I thought that I could copy it, and rewrite it later, when I have time, but, obviously, I forgot to do that.

Dear Andrija,

Here is a resume and program note. Let me know if you need more information (or less).

Allen

Allen Cohen's work includes music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and voice. Currently Associate Professor of Music at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he has also taught at Hunter College, New York University, and Manhattanville College, and has received a Meet the Composer grant and several ASCAP Plus awards. He received a doctorate in composition from the City University of New York, where he studied with Thea Musgrave, Bruce Saylor, and David Del Tredici. His pieces on compact disc include Autumn Morning for orchestra (Vienna Modern Masters), Duo-Partita for cello and guitar (Artek), Grace for piano solo (New Ariel), Sonata for Trumpet and Piano (“Song of Myself”) and Wings of Desire for flugelhorn and piano (Capstone). He has written incidental scores for films and off-Broadway plays, and has arranged dance music for five Broadway musicals. He has also conducted many musical theater productions on Broadway and elsewhere, and has performed extensively as a pianist. He is the author of Howard Hanson in Theory and Practice (Praeger/Greenwood) and the popular children's book That's So Funny I Forgot to Laugh! (Scholastic), and co-author of Writing Musical Theater (Palgrave Macmillan).

SONATA FOR CLARINET AND PIANO (“JOURNEY”)

This piece was inspired by the notion of a journey or quest, which can be found in countless legends and adventure stories, and even in one's own life. In that sense, the first movement represents the blithe, light-hearted setting-out; the second movement the doubts and fears of the nighttime in strange wild places, or the “dark night of the soul”; and the third, the arduous struggle to find a home, whether that means going back or onward.

Musically, the piece is tightly unified thematically: all of the material is derived from the main theme of the first movement. The themes of the second movement are inversions of those of the first, and in the last movement these themes are further transformed and developed.

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Musa Qala

Hey BJ. (Is BJ OK?) I've tried to take care of your issues on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Battle of Musa Qala and any update would be appreciated. You've done great work reviewing, by the way. Keep it up! Marskell (talk) 05:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I (or Grim-Gym) have taken of the issue you raised here. Could you perhaps reconsider your assessment. Thanks for the review! CloudNine (talk) 11:03, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Day

I think they can be combined: but I find it all a bit confusing, especially with the alternating of "ABC", as if it was one thing, and "ABCs" as if there were a bunch of ABCs. So I am not certain that a patent to print the "ABC with Little Catechism" is covered by the monopoly for "ABCs". Particularly as I was just this afternoon reading about Day having to concede some rights to ABCs, but also that that he kept control of his bestsellers, which would have included the "ABC with Little Catechism" (it might just be that since this was a combo book, a specific patent applied to it alone). Clearly Day was granted patents for this one under Edward VI, but I imagine Mary rescinded them, and so Cecil had to grant them to him again under Elizabeth. All this aside, we can certainly find the wording to combine those two sentences.

I hope you didn't mind my butting into the article. All your work was excellent, but I was just anxious to finish it off in time for the front page. I'm more or less finished now, except I want to add something about Turner accusing Day of pricing his books out of the reach of everyday Protestants. qp10qp (talk) 18:06, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Online disinhibition effect, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Ryu Goto

An editor has nominated Ryu Goto, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ryu Goto and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 11:14, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another look at Macintosh

Hey again. I was wondering if you could take another look at Wikipedia:Featured article review/Macintosh and perhaps offer kp or rm. Although the balance is with rm, I am not convinced. I think the article is much improved. Cheers, Marskell (talk) 09:27, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Extra!

BJ, I just rolled back your additions of Kaypoh's pages to FAR, because: FAR is overloaded; a nominator who can't be bothered to add it themselves is no good for the page (not you--the guy you added it for); "dump" nominations (multiple, from same user, at once) are not encouraged. Did you notice it from here? That really is an excellent tool. But the existence of a review subpage does not mean it should be on FAR.

In better news, thanks for the comment on Macintosh. I had wanted to tell you that your contrib's have been really appreciated. You're one of the most thoughtful editors who's stopped by FAR recently! Marskell (talk) 21:03, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any other comment is more than welcome, and thanks a lot for what you've done so far :D --Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 11:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

I looked at the admin list tonight and didn't see you. If you're interested, ping me. Marskell (talk) 20:39, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. When a good editor appears on the radar, you want to encourage them, which is what I was intending. I did look at your contrib's and your earliest seem indicative of someone who already knew the rules, suggesting a long term editor. (Not at all an accusation!)
I waited two years for adminship, long after I'd already contributed, and part of me still feels non-adminship is better. So I understand.
If nothing else: keep up the FAR comments! The process does need them, and your work to date has been certainly appreciated. Marskell (talk) 21:06, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Szigeti

Thanks so much for the cleaning-up and comments on Szigeti! A request for peer review

Hello, BuddingJournalist! (love the username)

I have submitted a request for peer review on the Preludes (Chopin) article. I have received helpful feedback from Awadewit and am awaiting a response from Ceoil; however, understandably, I would like as many varied opinions on this article as possible. Therefore, please reply and list your thoughts on the article whenever possible and/or convienient. Thanks sincerely, --~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical? 04:35, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review idea

Hi, I have made a proposal that no peer review request be archived without some response. To aid in this, there is a new list of PR requests at least one week old that have had no repsonses beyond a semi-automated peer review. This list is at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog.

There are just over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, so I figure if each of these volunteers reviewed just one or two PR requests without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog (as there have been 2 or 3 such unanswered requests a day on average).

If you would be able to help out with a review or two a month from the "no responses" backlog list that would be great (and much appreciated). Please discuss questions, comments, or ideas at the PR talk page and thanks in advance for your help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:02, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawing FACs

BuddingJournalist, where's the withdraw? Also, when there are no opposes, I handle them differently, so I removed it from the archive file. Let me know where the request to withdraw is, and then you can watch my contribs for how to handle. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:28, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I won't do anything yet ... and then I'll show you how it's done :-) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:30, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sheesh, I went for a nice herbal bath after a stressful day, and you jumped into action in my brief absence :-)) OK, I'll fix it. Thriller had opposes, so it gets archived and botified. Janet Jackson had no oppposes, so it would have been handled differently. I'll teach you, but no, I don't want to put instructions out to let just anyone be doing the archiving, because undoing and redoing is more work for me. Give me a minute to catch up. OK, I left a response at WT:FAC; if you want to learn all the steps, let me know. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back. Two different cases:

FAC withdrawn with Opposes, to be recorded in articlehistory
  1. Remove transcluded fac page from WP:FAC
  2. Move the transcluded fac page to the top of the correct monthly archive file, with an edit summary saying withdrawn (for my future stats, distinguish from a fail). Moving it to the monthly archive file will trigger GimmeBot to do the rest.
  3. Make sure the {{fac}} template is still on the article talk page, so the bot won't stall.
  4. Remind the nominator not to remove the fac template, with a link to WP:FAC/ar.
Premature FAC withdrawn with no opposes, or no opposes of substance (this is why judgment of fac regulars is required. It's a judgment call as to whether the FAC should be recorded into articlehistory.)
  1. Remove transcluded fac page from WP:FAC [1] Do NOT move to archive file, as it doesn't need to be botified.
  2. Move the FAC page to the next open /archiveN , lowercase a.[2]
  3. Clear the redirect on the original FAC file,[3] leaving it ready for next submission, linking to previous FAC withdrawn (no uppercase p all uppercase FAC, this is for some other scripts)
  4. Remove the {{fac}} template from the article talk page, and leave a note on the talk page that the fac was withdrawn, with a link to the archive file.
