Danielle "Dani" Evans (born June 7, 1985 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is an American fashion model. In May 2006, she won Cycle 6 of America's Next Top Model
Her prize was a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a modeling contract with Ford Models and a photoshoot for Elle Magazine. Evans was the third African American to have won the show.
Before America's Next Top Model
Before appearing on America's Next Top Model, Evans worked as a babysitter as well as an Abercrombie & Fitch Brand representative.
On America's Next Top Model
Evans was thought by the judges to be one of the front-runners in the competition, noted for her striking face. It was not until the second half of the contest that she came under criticism for her heavy southern accent, which the judges felt was unfitting of a CoverGirl spokesmodel (The final three contestants on Top Model shoot a CoverGirl commercial, and the winner receives a CoverGirl contract). Nevertheless, Evans made it to the top two contestants, Tyra Banks saying she could be given speech lessons. In the finale, the judges were torn with some of the judges preferring fellow finalist Joanie Dodds's versatile portfolio, while others (notably judge Nigel Barker) preferring Evans's "signature look." However, they felt Evans had the stronger in-person presence compared to Dodds and commanded the final catwalk. Evans's charisma and charm edged out Dodds, and she was crowned the winner of America's Next Top Model, Cycle 6.
I am the winner of America's Next Top Model, my life has officially changed. My mother's going to be so happy right now... right now it kinda doesn't seem real to me because I've had so many struggles and I've had a hard knock life... we don't have to struggle anymore. I'm a CoverGirl, Mommy!
Modeling career
Since winning America's Next Top Model, Evans has appeared on the cover of PowerPlay Magazine, an Arkansas-based publication,[1]. As part of her prize, she was signed to Ford Models[2] and was given a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics. She has starred in the continuing CoverGirl commercial campaign on The CW entitled "My Life as a Cover Girl" during Fall 2006 as well as starring in a CoverGirl commercial with fellow CoverGirls Queen Latifah and Tiiu Kuik. Her other modeling credits include ELLE, Elle Girl, Jewel Magazine, In Touch Weekly, Essence Magazine, Seventeen,[3] The New York Post, Ashro catalog, Sephora, Akademiks, CoverGirl eyewear (along with Caridee English, Cycle 7 winner), the Tory Burch line for Saks Fifth Avenue and Cover magazine. Evans has walked the runway for Issue, Victorio & Lucchino, Baby Phat Fall '07[4] and Zang Toi Fall '07. She has also walked on the '07 Rip the Runway, with many other ANTM contestants, although she was the only winner of ANTM that walked this season, she is the second winner to ever have walked on Rip the Runway and Style Salon. Dani was with CariDee and Jaslene Gonzalez (Cycle 8) the only Top Model who had her CoverGirl contract renewed, making her, Eva Marcille, Nicole Linkletter and CariDee English the only ones to do multiple ads for the brand. In Spring '08, she is scheduled to appear in designer Jenni Kayne's spring collection fashion show. She is the spokesmodel for Akademiks clothing line. She also has received a showcard from her agency, Click Model Management, for NY Fashion Week.[5] She is one of only 6 ANTM alumni to be given a showcard for fashion week, the other ones being Jaslene Gonzalez, Megg Morales of Cycle 7[6], Lisa Jackson of Cycle 9[7], Naima Mora, winner of Cycle 4[8] and Claire Unabia of Cycle 10[8] and the only one to get multiple ones. Evans is apparently good friends with model Chanel Iman. She has recently been featured as one of CoverGirl's Top Models in Action. Evans also walked in the Project Runway finale fashion show for finalist Korto.
