Corazon Aquino, President of the Philippines (1986-1992)
Corazon Aquino, President of the Philippines (1986-1992)

What's written below is a fact. Why was the article reverted to its earlier version?

"However, her (Aquino's) call for the president's (Macapagal-Arroyo's) resignation was twitted by most of Macapagal-Arroyo's supporters due to her perceived lack of moral integrity to call for such action due to her family's failure to resolve the problem in Hacienda Luisita, a 6000-hectare plantation owned by the Cojuangco family. It can be recalled that in November 2004, 14 people died and hundreds were injured in a clash between the striking poor workers and the military/police. Up to the present, such issue is being hurled against the former president. She was even advised to clean her own backyard first, referring to the 6,000-hectare estate, before dipping her hands in the affairs of the entire 30-million-hectare archipelago."

It is blatantly biased, poorly written, unsourced and unencyclopedic. They may be some of the many reasons that the editor chose to remove this. Rotovia (talk) 13:55, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If this site is after the truth, why do you write only the good things. Why you have to consider the segment "A Hope that Failed " as vandalism. If you are a Filipino, you know that this is the only true segment

: Wikipedia is devoted to NPOV (Neutral Point of View). It is okay to say that some people believe that she failed, but to say or imply that YOU believe that is POV. It is vandalism to deliberately edit an article to inject biased views. It is acceptable to QUOTE a authoritative source with POV, but to present such opinion as if it were objective fact is considered POV, which is against Wikipedia's policy. David Cannon 12:04, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

There are alot of Filipinos who do not know the difference between FACT and POINT OF VIEW (opinion). They think their opinion is a fact when it's just an opinion. Not like every filipinos believes and think the same as them.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.167.127 (talk) 00:29, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

David you are a liar if you will say that you don't learn a thing from the " A hope that Failed " article

You (I can only call you "you" because you have not identified yourself) need to have a look at the HISTORY button at the top of the article. You will see that I did not write this article and my involvement with it has been minimal. Yes, I'll admit I am an admirer of this woman, though I **AM NOT** blind to her shortcomings. What you wrote, I have heard before. That said, there is no place for blatant POV in Wikipedia. That's a no-no. As I said, there is nothing wrong with *ATTRIBUTING* POV to a source. You can quote some politician, or professor, or journalist, making it clear that you are quoting a source and are not stating opinion as fact. Likewise, it is acceptable to say that some believe that she failed. To say that "some believe" - or even "many believe" - that she failed is not the same as saying that she did fail. You need to distinguish the relative from the absolute here, and you've been failing to do that.
If I had more time, I would rewrite what you've written, rather than just snuffing it. Right now I'm busy preparing lessons for my students for the next semester, which is why I've hardly had a look in at Wikipedia since the end of May. Hopefully, the next month will afford me the time to return to Wikipedia. Then I might be able to work out a way to include some of your sentiments in the article as third-party opinion. There are some parts of what you wrote that could be salvaged, but doing so is, to be perfectly frank with you, like trying to find a lost gold ring in a room strewn with articles of lesser value. You obviously write good English, and it would be a wonderful thing if you could learn to distinguish fact from opinion, the relative from the absolute. But don't go around writing biased articles purporting to be fact. That's anti-Wiki. David Cannon 11:32, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

My sincere apology - I am really sorry for the mess. It was really too late for me to know about your NPOV rules. The feeling was like the enjoyment of riding a new race car, leting it run too fast, then suddenly you realize that there is no brake. Again, my apology.

Thank you, that's appreciated I think. Don't worry about it too much, it takes a while for most people to learn the ropes here. I for one am looking forward to seeing an article on Yay Marking. - Hephaestos|§ 05:58, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Removal of Spanish-Filipino category

Seattle University not University of Washington

Corazon Aquino was awarded an honorary doctorate from Seattle University not the University of Washington. The TV broadcast of the ceremony was produced by the University of Washington, however.

Nobel Peace Prize nomination

  • She is also the first Filipino to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize after leading the bloodless EDSA revolution during the time of Marcos. [1]

Being nominated for the Peace Prize is an honor, but it is not official or even prestigious. Any national legislator or about a third of the university professors in the world can make a nomination, and there have been as many as 140 some years. Nominators are requested to keep their nominations secret, so it's only those wishing publicity who make announcements, and more often it is impossible to verify. In this case, there's no way of knowing if she was the first Filipino nominated. I see no reason to keep this material. No offense to the subject, this is a general Nobel Peace Prize "nominees" issue. -Will Beback · · 08:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV sentence

I edited out a sentence that states "Ironically enough own back yard was filled with oppressed workers." Not only did this sentence not make any sense, but it also seemed extremely POV to me, and sounded like a political attack on her, possibly from a communist source, that disliked her during her presidency.

I do not know who put it in, or what rational it was based on, but it made no sense, was un-sourced and sounded like a judgement rather than a fact, therefore I deleted it. 216.201.33.20 02:18, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please undo gratuitous Hermosisima references

This is an article about Corazon Aquino, not Regino Hermosisima. Why is it relevant to the Corazon Aquino article that Regino Hermosisima was appointed to the Supreme Court, or to the Judicial and Bar Council? Unless Corazon Aquino and Regino Hermosisima have some secret close relationship, those references do not belong here. The fact that they are there severely weakens the credibility and integrity of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.52.36.44 (talk) 03:15, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Breaking news.... 76.115.141.53 (talk) 07:24, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should have been discovered since Cory was hospitalized, lately, but she was not brave when she faced the doctors at that first instant. Had she been brave, she could have made it early. It is TOO LATE now. Cancer is caused by DNA, genes factors and of course by stress, anger, bitterness, hatred and vengeance. If only Cory did bestow mercy upon Ferdinand Marcos who begged mercy to lay dying in his homeland, if only Cory gave compassion to Imelda Marcos, and if only the Cojuanco-Aquino family had a bit of mercy, kindness and compassion upon Ferdinand Marcos having knelt before her, the war of the roses would not have persecuted Filipinos. Colon cancer is one of the dire punishments or curses upon SIN. St. Paul said that death comes from sin, and sin comes from law: the Rule of Law of Chief Justices Hilario Davide, Jr., Reynato Puno and Artemio Panganiban - the law of anger, vendetta and hypocrisy. There is no avenue or via to ferret the truth than use the Psalm 109 or biblical curse to cleanse these most powerful leader of hatred in their hearts. This is the essence of the rule of mystic dwarves, called elven supremacy. - --Florentino floro (talk) 08:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yesterday, Talk show host Kris Aquino and Senator Noynoy Aquino told the whole Nation that the beloved former President Cory Aquino, has the disease called Colon Cancer. Former Senator Franklin Drilon and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim even cried after hearing the news. "She was a good lady, and A good President", said the Mayor. The widow of the murdered Husband, Ninoy Aquino, was a true friend to the two men and to all Filipinos in the country and to the World.

For Me, I hope she gets better and live more longer. She is one of the greatest women and presidents in Philippine History, and the most excellent thing she did for the Filipino Nation was restoring Democracy and the Ultimate Freedom for all Filipinos.

Cory was very brave when her husband, Sen. Ninoy Aquino, was assassinated and killed at the tarmac of the Manila International Airport. Now called Ninoy Aquino International Airport in honor of the Great Senator and Hero.

Ngayon, Sa mga bagong mga problemang hinaharapan ng mahal nating Dating Pangulo, Ina, Asawa, Lider, NASA LIKOD NIYA ANG SAMBAYANANG PILIPINO!

CORY AQUINO,

CERTIFIED TRUE 100% FILIPINO HERO!

MABUHAY KA!

Stevenphil (talk) 10:34, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contrary to what the first user's comment in this section claims, colon cancer is not caused by negative feelings, nor is it a punishment from any god. Nietzsche 2 (talk) 03:13, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Cory Aquino - Woman of the Year.jpg

Image:Cory Aquino - Woman of the Year.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Corazon or Corazón

It's Corazón in the lede, but Corazon in the title and most everywhere in the text. I'm sure the accented version ó is correct in Spanish ("Corazón" translates as "heart"), and is how she herself spelled her own name. -- JackofOz (talk) 23:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't like them (diacritics), but WP:Diacritics says: "Wikipedia does not decide what characters are to be used in the name of an article's subject; English usage does. Wikipedia has no rule that titles must be written in certain characters, or that certain characters may not be used. Versions of a name which differ only in the use or non-use of modified letters should be treated like any other versions: Follow the general usage in English verifiable reliable sources in each case, whatever characters may or may not be used in them." So, if reliable sources use them, there's no reason we shouldn't. --Elliskev 23:44, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See below for more discussion. Apparently there are no accents in Filipino orthography. -- JackofOz (talk) 10:24, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is her name correct?

Corazon looks like corazón (Spanish: "heart"). Should their be an accent over the final letter o, i.e. corazón instead of corazon? ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 10:00, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. It's a Filipino name. See Filipino orthography. William Avery (talk) 10:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino names do not use accents in vowels, the only Filipino-used letter which entails an accent is the letter "ñ", please see WP:MOSPHIL. --TitanOne (talk) 06:46, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protect this, please

EN: We were tagged "Slaves" as I viewed those un-named vandals. It is unfair, unjust and racist. We Filipinos stand on our own, we helped the world as much as they helped us, why say that?.. I don't understand..
President Corazon Aquino has been a great contributor to Philippine and world history and deserves further preservation. Please, protect this. search the news anywhere, you'll find her.

JoshuaCruzPhilippines 16:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjcruz (talkcontribs)

You must know that Wikipedia is not a mainstream of ideas, it is an encyclopedia. Perhaps they were all reverted because it point out personal point of view. When I am reviewing your edits, it seems that you never added any to this article. And please, this article regarding our past president is not an active advocacy page that will advertise any person or organization on its height, you may notice that statements that were given especially regarded into something that points out individual point of view are removed. I am not against with your announcement or whatsoever, but please abide by Wikipedia rules. When editing Wikipedia, please assume good faith, its contents are representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views and finally, use ~~~~ inserting your edits on talk pages.--JL 09Talk to me! 08:18, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
