Admissions
There used to be a separate entrance test for the institute but now the admission is based on AIEEE All India Rank for those who apply to JIIT.
Administration
Jaiprakash Gaur is the founder of the institute. Yajulu Medury is the current Chancellor of the institute. Manoj Gaur was the first Chancellor of the institute. Prof. (Dr.) S. C. Saxena is the current Vice-Chancellor (1 July 2011-present). Prof. J. P. Gupta was the institutes' founder director and first Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Krishna Gopal serving as the current Dean of Academic & Research.
Infrastructure
The campus was built at a cost of INR 750,000,000, with a builtup area of 650,000 sq ft (60,000 m²) consisting of buildings with internet connectivity, air conditioned academic block, faculty residences, student hostels, Annapurna (the college mess), laboratories and Learning Resource Centre.
Learning Resource Centre
The Learning Resource Center is the name of library of the institute. It has more than 36,000 volumes of books, journals and magazines, 36 news dailies, 500 project reports and 3100 CD-ROMs.
The library is linked with DELNET (Developing Library Network). LRC users can access online journals of IEEE, ACM, Engineering Village and Springer through the consortium, INDEST (Indian National Digital Library in Engineering, Science and Technology).
LRC users know the availability status of the books and other materials through the Public Access Catalogue. The LRC has the facility of Wi-Fi for the students.
Labs
There are four computer labs, other labs are Biotechnology Lab (9000 sq mt), Analog and Digital Communication Lab , Instrumentation Lab, Machine Lab, Control systems lab, Electronic Design lab (uses MATLAB and VHDL), Microprocessor Lab (equipped with Intel 8085, 8086 and 8051 kits helps the students to develop the necessary confidence in Assembly Language programming ) and a Physics lab.
The M.Tech labs are equipped with facilities like LAN Trainer, CDMA Trainer, Antenna Trainer, and Mobile Communication Trainer.
Annapurna
Annapurna is the name of the college mess which serves all the students along with the faculty. It is a double storey building with ground floor for girls and first floor for boys. Mess has a buffet system. It has a separate cafeteria as well, which operates throughout the day except during mess hours.

JYC
The JIIT Youth Club, or JYC, is the student body of the JIIT responsible for organizing Intra-college and inter-college events. The annual festival "JIVE", which is completely coordinated by the youth club and supported by the institute is recognized as one of the best inter-collegiate festivals in the National Capital Region(NCR) and Northern India.
Controversies
In the year of 2010, the Government of India decided to derecognize 44 universities including JIIT. The matter still lies in the Supreme Court of India.[1]
