Template:Contains Korean text Kim So-Hyun, (born June 4, 1999), is a South Korean actress.[1] She began her career as a child actress when she was seven years old, and initially rose to fame in 2012 for playing a villainous young queen-to-be in period drama Moon Embracing the Sun, and a girl who falls into tragedy in 2013 melodrama Missing You.[2][3][4][5][6][7] Other notable series include black comedy The Suspicious Housekeeper (2013), mystery thriller Reset (2014), and teen drama Who Are You: School 2015.[8][9][10][11]

Biography

Early Life

Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, on June 4, 1999. Her father is Australian and passed away when she was 9 years old. On an interview, Kim said "three of us, my younger brother and mom, live together. My dad passed away early."[12]

During her interview on the broadcast of KBS “Entertainment Weekly”, Kim reveals her impressive report card which had previously been revealed online. Kim report card unveiled her impressive grades: 91.50 in language arts, 87.40 in mathematics, and 92.78 in science.[13]


Career

Kim began her acting career in the 2006 Drama City: "Ten Minute Minor.". She also starred in a movie called Man of Vendetta as Joo Hye-rin, the kid who kidnapped. Man of Vendetta came out successfully and reach US$6,586,710 on box office.

She started rising her popularity on 2012 when she starred in the fantasy-period drama Moon Embracing the Sun as the second female lead, young Yoon Bo-Kyung. Kim received critical comments from Netizen. She also comeback with a fantasy-comedy drama called Rooftop Prince as the second female again, young Hong Se-na/young Crown Princess Hwa-yong. In the end of the year, she starred in a melodrama called Missing You as young Lee So Yeon which reunited with Moon Embracing the Sun co-star, Yeo Jin Goo. Kim acted as a victim of bullying at school, targeted because her father was a murderer. [14]She received 2 awards because of her amazing acting skill.

She continue to starred in successful dramas called Iris II: New Generation, The Secret of Birth, I Can Hear Your Voice, The Suspicious Housekeeper, Triangle, Reset, Drama Special "We All Cry Differently", and The Girl Who Sees Smells.[15]

On 2013, Kim started MC-ing a music program on MBC called Music Core together with her co-MC SHINee's Min Ho and Noh Hong-chul,[16] but she was left on 2015 together with her co-MC Block B's Zico because of her busy schedule for filming Who Are You: School 2015. [17]

Again, she show us a great skill of her acting from KBS Drama School series, Who Are You: School 2015. She acted as Lee Eun-bi and Go Eun-byul. Go Eun-byul and Lee Eun-bi are identical twins. Lee Eun-bi lives in an orphanage whereas Go Eun-byul, Eun-bi's twin sister lives with a woman who adopted her. Due to bullying, Eun-bi decided to end her life but she was saved by her twin sister. Lee Eun-bi suffered from amnesia after that, and the mother of Eun-byul, when she found her, thought that Eun-bi was Eun-byul. Now, Eun-bi has to pretend that she is her twin sister, Go Eun-byul.[18]

The School series continues its success in creating a well marketed drama appealing to students in today's society. Through Google Korea Top 10 search terms for the first half of 2015 the School 2015 series place 5th under the Top 10 TV Program Keywords category. Who Are You: School 2015 also achieved in having been listed on Twitter top keyword searches were the most popular in Korea for the first half of 2015 listed at number 2 under the TV Program/Film” category. Kim received triple crown on KBS Drama Awards.

On 2016, she starred in a romance movie called Unforgettable as Jung Soo-Ok, the girl who dreamed became a radio DJ together with her co-star, EXO Do Kyung Soo.[19] She also starred in a mystery-school webdrama Nightmare Teacher with her co-star BTOB Mihyuk [20]and rom-com Drama Special Page Turner with her co-star Ji-Soo and Shin Jae-Ha.[21]

Kim learned how to play piano for her Drama Special called Page Turner and also she learned some action move for her drama Hey Ghost, Let's Fight together with her co-star 2PM Ok Taec-yeon.[22] In addition to acting, Kim also sings for some of her films and drama soundtracks which she has received praise for. Kim also a good dancer. She had a Special Stage on 2013 SBS Drama Awards (Performing IU-Red Shoes), 2014 on Show! Music Core (Performing Why Do You), and 2014 MBC Entertainment Awards (Performing Darling).[23]

Multi-talent Kim had talent in MC-ing too.
