I noticed that you edited someone else's comment for clarity, spelling or grammar. As a rule, refrain from editing others' comments without their permission. Though it may appear helpful to correct typing errors, grammar, etc., please do not go out of your way to bring talk pages to '''publishing standards''', since it is not terribly productive and will tend to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. For more details, see [[Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Central points|Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines]]. Thanks, <!-- Template:Notyours -->

VP Page

Hi Sudharsansn, Let me know whats your plan of action. I guess there is a lot to be done. It would certainly be a good idea to protect the page, but that would also prevent anyone from editing except through the admins. Elalan 02:59, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

However bad you may think the Velupillai Prabhakaran article is, sticking a speedy delete tag on it is not the right approach. It makes you the vandal and is liable to get you blocked. -- RHaworth 01:29, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Roger, you might want to go through the history of that page to understand what I literally mean, when I say 'vandalism'. Pls refer to Velupillai Prabhakaran, the talk page and the article history and also the points being made there.
While every effort is being made to ensure that the other version stays as it is, why is effort to balance this article, inspite of several edits being negated due to mass reverts? That's my whole point!! Why is a pro-Sinhala mafia thwarting every attempt to balance this article, inspite of several cited reasons behind Alred Durairaj, Child killer mentions, it always reverts back to the original Anti-Tamil, Pro-Sinhala version. I put up the vandalized tag to clearly suggest that every effort made to ensure NPOV is being negated. Any suggestions??
What do you think should be done about that article. Thanks for your mention Sudharsansn 02:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a Suggestion

I've looked at some of your comments on LTTE related pages, and though I could not agree more with your overall message that there are some Pro-Sinhala and obviously biased statements in those pages, your posts in the talk pages are very emotional and border on all out flaming of that certain group. So just a suggestion that you might want to reframe from calling them names because it depreciates your solid arguements about the article Thanks Mate --Sharz 08:35, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the India project

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Ganeshk (talk) 02:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamilnet

You might want to see what is happening at the Tamilnet page. Your suggestions with regards to this content dispute would be helpful. Elalan 18:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone through and added citation need facts for anything that I felt needed a citation on the VP page. You might want to look at that as well. Already there is an effort to stop with some Mickey Mouse reasoning. Elalan 21:59, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Velupillai Prabhakaran

As you can tell, I'm willing to go through with a hacket and cut it all out if necessary. I removed that whole sociological study that was the "cult of personality" section and will try to hack the rest down into a reasonable article. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:34, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sri lankan WikiProject

Hi Sudharsan, I got your e-mail. For information on creating a project, Guide to WikiProject organization would really help. I would suggest you start WikiProject Sri lanka, and go from there. You can copy-paste the wiki-code from the WikiProject India. There is a need for geographic projects such as this. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 23:56, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sudharsansn, you will be suprised that I don't use any one of the instant messenger/icq type software. Nevertheless I would like to give you my email address but not make it public. Since anything written here is available to anyone to access. So how about we meet on a wikipedia irc channel and I we will exchange details there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elalan (talkcontribs) .

I am not sure about this. I think this kind of project would divide editors on regional lines. WikiProject Sri lanka would have been a more neutral project that would cover all kinds of topics, geography, history etc, not just focus on the ethnic conflict. Please comment on my talk page. I check my messages here every day. - Ganeshk (talk) 02:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sudharsansn, I wanted to encourage you in your efforts to start the wiki project and you work on the VP page is already making a remarkable step forward. For most current and former people from Ceylon, it is the ethnic conflict that has largely dominated their lives for the better or worse and is the prime focus of attention. A campaign of misinformation and vandalism that has been going on has to be neutralized and exposed. We have to stand for facts period. Any news source or outlet that has been unaffected by the current press censorships moves in Sri Lanka on the ground is the target of attacks and lopsided arguments here in wikipedia. I do have to wonder if these attacks are more organized and coordinated effort of establishment entities. Elalan 04:43, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, I'll be glad to join the project. How do I go about doing it. :) Elalan 04:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would call it Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sri_lankan_ethnic_conflict. The best would be to put it as Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sri_lanka/Ethnic conflict, as a task force/work-group. In the end the name does not matter, as long as you have interested participants. Did you check out the newly created Wikipedia:Sri Lankan Wikipedians' notice board. All the best! - Ganeshk (talk) 00:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Those you reported in the WP:NPA were the resons for our the User Iwazaki to be warned already. Because the action has been already taken, there is no need to report it again. Till, if the personal attack attitude of the user is not changed, (The diffs you provide should be after the time the warning was issued), you may report again in the same notice board. I think User:Iwazaki is our fellow wikipedian and we have to forgive and forget his mistakes and make our minds to work together in peace. --Sechzehn16Talk 11:26, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamilnet

You might want to take a look at the Tamilnet article. I am attempting to cleanup some of the discrepancies within the article. Elalan 06:19, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Velupillai Prabhakaran article

Sudharsansn, when I said you had put a lot of work into the article, I really didn't mean that in a bad way. I 'll try to go thru the article soon and tell you what I think.
And by the way, not bad Sinhalese:-) --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 23:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamilnet Again

I have cc'ed this to two admins (just wanted to keep you in the loop).

User snowolfd4 has come up with new ambiguous reasons to remove relevant content from the Tamilnet article as he did for the Vellupillai article:

Here is his justification:

Sudharsansn the reasons are given in the edit summery. Thats not vandalism. Get your facts straight. Practically everything I removed is irrelevant to the context of the article. The international news organizations don't say sympathetic to LTTE website. Its plain pro LTTE website. That means they support the LTTE. Plain English. Not sympathetic. Support. And stuff like

David Jeyaraj a Canada based freelance journalist known for his neutral stance in the current Sri Lankan civil war had written that Karuna, was personally involved in the murder of famed journalist Taraki Sivaram

is just not encyclopedic and doesn't belon in WP. So again I'm removing irrelevant content and restoring my previous version. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 04:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

He claims David Jeyaraj's statement (with reference) is unencylopedic, so thats he decides to remove it completely. He also insists on mentioning the LTTE with the list of countries banned in detail. He also insists on saying the website supports the LTTE, which is legally vague. Material support, financial support ?? The best word as far as I see it is that it is sympathetic to the the LTTE. Furthermore he blanks many other statements, with relevant citations without even discussing it. Elalan 05:33, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey There, I really need some help with the Lt Colonal Thileepan page, especially concerning his early life as a student etc. Thought you might have some background infomation on that.

Result

This article is within the scope of the NCSLC Project, a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka and to provide a balanced opinion on the ongoing crisis. The primary objective is to contribute and maintain pages pertaining to the Sri Lanka Tamils, LTTE and the Sri Lankan government's efforts towards resolving the crisis.

NCSLC stands for Neutral Coverage of the Sri Lankan Crisis. If you would like to participate, you can visit the project page, where you can join the project and see a list of open tasks.

Vandalism

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Velupillai Prabhakaran. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 15:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The text is sourced from the BBC article. Removing it is vandalism. Do not remove it again. You will be blocked from editing if you continue to blank the article. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 18:04, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By repetitively using the word 'vandalism' you cannot claim that I am a vandal, because I have documented every edit I have made in the talk page. Refute it there and claim for the 'vandal' tag than making dubious claims!! This isn't a warning mate, it's quite simply just a joke! Refer to the talk page for all justifications made as per Wiki policies! Sudharsansn 18:37, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Welcome. It has been weeks and months since the idea of newsletter was mooted among the WikiProject India Community. This would be our first full-fledged edition of our Newsletter, and we'd like to start by saying we are very happy to have you among us.
  • This is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips here. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know.
  • Advertisements for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. We'll run special sections, and recurring columns in the coming issues.

  • Cartography Department (Shortcut:WP:INMAP): The Department of Cartography within the WikiProject India is a group of wikipedians who work on providing quality maps related to India. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information on places, districts and states of India. As a thumb rule, maps serve better if they are in SVG format. The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Contact the Cartography Department to learn how you can help in making the best maps in Wikipedia to be India-related!

Insulting Image

  • I saw the image is offensive. Is there any way to report and remove this image? --Sechzehn16Talk 14:08, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is also a userbox against some of us, User:Lahiru_k/UserBox/Oppose_against_LTTE which I found totally notorious. I complained to the Personal Attack Intervention Noticeboard, where they asked me to wait for a while because our friend User:Elalan has already issued Lahiru_k a warning. And with the desire for the Wikipedia not to become a host for these dirty and notorious jokes, I listed the image for deletion. Let's wait and see how it goes. If this image is kept in Wikipedia, then it is the game time for us to create its counterpats - or even better or worse! Recently, I am making some of my friends working in Japanese version of Wikipedia on the coverage of Sri Lankan crisis - it is totally biased to the extend that it says neusences like LTTE is liked with the Maoist rebels and they claim Tamil Nadu - a hard work to be done there too. Wishing you a nice week ahead. --16T 19:20, 14 November 2006 (UTC) (Changed my signature for simplicity)[reply]
Actually this image is copyright violation. Its Donkey from the movie Shrek superimposed on part of the LTTE logo. The copyright permission on this is invalid. Elalan
The image is a copyright violation, plus the statement on the user box opposes certain wikipedian, which is against the rule of the project. The user pages are not mean to be a soapbox or insult/attack/oppose anyone particularly fellow wikipedians. Elalan 20:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonation of my Wiki profile

Impersonation of my Wiki profile

Please note that my existing userprofile: Sudharsansn is being vandalized by an impersonator who has created an id similar to that of mine.

1). The new impersonating vandal id that has been created is this: Snsudharsan whereas my real profile page is here: Sudharsansn.

2). Please note that this is not a coincidence as the vandal has left a comment in my remarks page making it appear as if I have edited this. He has also taken a picture from my website and posted it in my profile page which strictly confines it to vandalism and impersonation.

Kindly help urgently to prevent miscreants from vandalizing other pages using a profile name similar to that of mine. Pls help and do voice your concern in WP:AN/I and WP:PAIN and also Admin noticeboard.

IPA for Ilaiyaraaja

Dear Sudharsansn: Noticed that you are good with the IPA. I have created an IPA, for the first time, for the pronounciation of Ilaiyaraaja's name. Could you please check if it is in good order? Thank you. AppleJuggler 02:48, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for providing your version of the IPA. I have incorporated it into the existing IPA spelling. Also please feel free to contribute to the Ilaiyaraaja article. The To-do List in the Discussion page explains it all, so the To-do List is the best thing to read for potential contributors. AppleJuggler 07:42, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again! How are the Sri Lankan crisis articles going? Do provide me with a Wikilink to those I would be interested in reading about the crisis: was talking to a Sri Lankan friend the other day and thought it would be good to get an idea of the situation there. As for the Ilaiyaraaja article, I appreciate your offer to help. Help is desperately needed with this article - I've been trying to draw as much attention as I could to it. The most urgent issue to resolve is [[Talk:Ilaiyaraaja|To-Do #6: to get some good photographs for this article. The existing one (apparently a fair use photo) is going to be deleted, and there will be no photos on this page. Perhaps you can help obtain a free use photo for it? I have provided an Internet link to a website which has some DaMn good photos for this subject at [[Talk:Ilaiyaraaja|To-Do #6... I wonder if these can be used? Do help if you can. Thank you! AppleJuggler 03:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

please stop using insultive words

I have noticed that you have made the following insultive word at a certain talk pagesinhala goons..you have breached

WP:GF andWP:NPA policies. you have not only insulted a fellow user, but have insulted a nation and its people by,using such words, which i consider ,is far more worst than a ordinary personal attack. Please refrain from using such words in the future --Iwazaki 10:05, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your concern but at the same time I would want you to read through the context completely before leaving pointless remarks on my page. A userbox titled "This user supports killing of Tamils" was created by one of you and you know who I am talking about. So in the context I said, if they do that we can make them revert it by putting up a userbox and exercising our democracy too. You did not shout out when somebody created a userbox titled "This user supports killing of Tamils" because you were by their side, so when I do that I really don't think you have moral ground to speak out against it and theat also when I give it in a contextual meaning!! If you would have spoken out like what I did on Lahiru's page, I would have appreciated your concern. However you want to speak out only when somebody is speaking out against you and your 'countrymen' so I really don't think you are even remotely WP:AGF to point out to me, when I actually meant no harm. If you want to understand what I meant, re-read the thread and you will understand that I was not acting out against the Sri Lankans, but it was a contextual statement made to point out that I can exercise my democracy too. Sudharsansn (talk contribs) 16:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pointless !!! i dont think so.you have clearly violated WP:GF andWP:NPA and called these things pointless ??!! And inorder to defend yourself, you have enganged in a classical example of "red-herring"..You remind me al-qaeda terrorists, when every time they do a terrorist attacks they, use thsese logical fallacies to defend themselves(blaming America,Israel,England etc..)

Those so called user box thing was an act of vandalism. What lahiru created was, this user supports SL troop, and some low-class person, has changed that into "this user supports killings of tamils" ,and as usual, you have jumped into an early conclusion.pls have a look at this vandalism] a vandalism done by an open-proxy(probably).So pls, stop your baseless accusations.will you ?? Remember, even before, your baseless accusations againts snowolfd4 found invalid and rejected by wiki-administrators.

Further, stop questioning my morals!! when your self have engaged in using insultive words, you lack any credibility in questioning me or any other in this case. And none of your excuses, justify the use of words, sinhala goons, which is the most insultive word i have ever seen in wikipedia .is this the way you exercise your democracy ??

Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments.
