Lee Su-hyun (Korean이수현; born May 4, 1999), is a South Korean singer. She debuted as the vocalist of sibling duo AKMU in April 2014, under YG Entertainment.

Biography

Early life

Lee Su-hyun was born on May 4, 1999 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Both Lee and her older brother, Lee Chan-hyuk moved to Mongolia with their missionary parents for five years, while being home-schooled, before moving back to South Korea. In August 2012, they both auditioned for SBS' K-pop Star 2 as AKMU. The sibling duo finished in first place, later signing under YGE.[1]

2014–present: AKMU and solo activities

In April 2014, Lee and her brother debuted as AKMU with studio album Play, immediately becoming a commercial success.[citation needed] In June 2017, Lee opened the YouTube channel MochiPeach, showcasing make-up tips, vlogs, and more. As of July 2019, the channel has surpassed 1.1 million subscribers, earning her the YouTube Gold Play Button.[2] In September 2017, Lee Chan-hyuk enlisted in the Korean Marine Corps for his mandatory military service, thus temporarily halting all Akdong Musician activities until his return.[3] Following his enlistment, Lee Su-Hyun made her first acting appearance on Netflix's Temporary Idol.[4]

In early 2018, it was revealed Lee had been cast to join JTBC's Begin Again 2.[5] In June 2018, she became a permanent Radio DJ for KBS Cool FM, Volume Up.[6] Later in the year, Lee released a soundtrack for tvN drama Mr. Sunshine, as well as made a featuring on Jannabi's digital single, "Made in Christmas".[7] In March 2019, Lee was cast as a judge for JTBC reality program Superband.[8][9] Later it was revealed Lee would reunite with the cast of JTBC's Begin Again for a third season. In April 27, 2019, she participated in the first anniversary of the Panmunjom Declaration event by performing the Pocahontas soundtrack "Colors of the Wind".[10]

In November, 2018 It was revealed Lee was chosen to be a model for Korean beauty platform Glow Pick. She also participated in composing and singing the song for the commercial.[11]
