R. Alexandra (Alex) Keith (born 1968) is an American businesswoman, and CEO of Procter & Gamble's $12.89 billion[1] global beauty division. She oversees 12,000 P&G employees who work on skin, hair and personal care products, sold in 115 countries.[2]
Early life
Keith earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona in 1989.[3][4]
Career
Keith joined P&G in 1989.[5] She spent her first seven years in manufacturing and logistics, before moving into marketing.[5]
From 2010 to 2014, Keith worked in the fabric care division of P&G.[6] Then, from 2014 to 2017, Keith was head of the skin and personal care division.[7]
Keith became president of Procter & Gamble's $11.4 billion global beauty business in July 2017, when she succeeded Patrice Louvet.[8][9] Following this, the P&G beauty segment saw a 7% rise in organic sales for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2018.[10] In November 2018, she was promoted to CEO of P&G's global beauty division, effective July 2019.[11]
For three consecutive years, Keith has been named to Fortune's international list of most powerful women in business, first entering the roster at #26 in 2017.[12][13] Earlier in her career, Keith was included in Advertising Age's Women to Watch 2006.[14] In 2010, the international beauty industry organization Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) gave her a CEW Achiever Award recognizing outstanding career achievement,[15] and in 2019 gave her their inaugural Leadership Excellence Award.[16]
Keith has been a panelist/speaker at numerous industry events, including the 2018 annual meeting of the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) in Palm Beach, Florida,[17] and the 2019 Fortune Most Powerful Women International Summit, in London.[18] In May 2020, Keith joined other business people and celebrities for a virtual commencement event hosted by Her Campus in lieu of in-person graduation ceremonies cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. Keith married in 2006.[3]
