The G06 BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by BMW. It is the third and current generation of the BMW X6, and was unveiled on 3 July 2019 as the successor to the F16 BMW X6.[1] Sales began in November 2019.[2] The X6 M and X6 M Competition performance models were revealed on 1 October 2019.[3]

This generation of the X6 is confirmed to enter the Mexican market in 2020.[4]

Development and launch

The G06 X6 is based on the CLAR platform and features a double wishbone front suspension and five-link rear suspension.[5] Compared to its predecessor, it is 26 mm (1.0 in) longer, 15 mm (0.6 in) wider, and 6 mm (0.2 in) lower.[6] The boot capacity is 580 litres (20 cu ft) and 1,530 litres (54 cu ft) liters with the 40:40:40 split seats lowered.[7] All G06 X6 models adhere to the Euro 6d-Temp emissions standard.[8]

At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show BMW unveiled a G06 with Vantablack paint. However BMW does not plan on producing the color on production models.[9]

Equipment

The G06 X6 is available in xLine or M Sport trim. xLine models feature 19-inch wheels, chrome trim, and underbody protection.[10] M Sport models feature gloss black trim, M Sport styling, M Sport Suspension, and M Sport brakes.[11] M50i and M50d models also feature an M Sport exhaust and an electronically controlled limited slip differential.[12] All models feature LED headlights, welcome light carpet, and iDrive 7.0 with two 12.3-inch displays and the BMW personal digital assistant.[13]

Optional equipment includes indicators, laser headlights, an illuminated kidney grille, heated and cooled cupholders, and air suspension which can raised or lowered by 80 mm (3.1 in) and can be configured with snow, sand, gravel, or rock terrain modes.[14] The G06 X6 can also be optioned with Reverse Assistant, which memorises the last 50 meters travelled and can automatically reverse in that path.[15]
