Clinton is a 5th-class city in Hickman County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 1,388 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of its countyTemplate:GR and the site of a Federal Courthouse for the Western District of Kentucky.

Name

The town is not named for the late-20th-century U.S. president and does not appear to be named after the 19th-century N.Y. governor (as Clinton County is). Instead, it appears to have been named after a riverboat or military captain who was stationed at the location around the time it was settled in the late 1820s.[3]
