In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the dire corby is a type of fictional monster.

Publication history[edit]

The dire corby first appeared in the original first edition Fiend Folio (1981).[1]

Description[edit]

A dire corby is a ferocious fighter, a subterranean black bipedal bird. Long ago the dire corbies lost the power of flight, but they make up for this with their great strength and ferocity. Their wings developed into two powerful arms which end in sharp, rock-hard claws.

Other publishers[edit]

The dire corby appeared in the Tome of Horrors (2002) from Necromancer Games.[2]

The dire corby is fully detailed in Paizo Publishing's book Misfit Monsters Redeemed (2010), on pages 16-21.[3] The dire corby appeared in Paizo Publishing's book Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary 3 (2011), on page 80.[4]
