Description
[edit]Wonderlove is a food cart pod in southeast Portland's Buckman neighborhood that hosts art and entertainment. There is a three-level bar made from two shipping containers; the second floor has a lounge screening sports on multiple televisions and the top floor offers views of freeways, the surrounding neighborhood, and downtown Portland.[1][2] Wonderlove's bar has wood floors salvaged from the University of California, Santa Barbara's former basketball court, a walk-up window, and outdoor seating. There is a series of murals, including one that was painted by the street artist Klutch prior to his death in 2023.[1] Wonderlove's bar serves beer and cocktails, such as the Lovers!, which has Freeland Gin, St-Germain, and blackberry agave hard seltzer.[1]
History
[edit]Wonderlove is co-owned by Joel Beaudoin and Michael Morrow, who opened the pod on June 20, 2024,[3] on the site of a condemned building that was covered in graffiti.[1] In July, in conjunction with the city's annual pride festivities, Wonderlove hosted Dollapalooza 3000, a weekend of drag performances by 60 entertainers, including RuPaul's Drag Race contestants Anetra, Mirage, Olivia Lux, and Willam, as well as local artists.[1][4]
Businesses
[edit]Wonderlove has hosted the following businesses:
- Bake on the Run (Guyanese cuisine),[5] which had previously operated at Lil' America[1]
- Gyro Bistro[1]
- Honeycuspe[1]
- Platter Division[1]
- Sushi San[1]
- Thai Panther[1]
- Tu Tia Taqueria[1]
- Wondercat Pizza, Wonderlove's flagship food cart[1]
As of July 2024, Ali's Hot Chicken, Big Daddy's BBQ, and the Electric Slider Company were slated to operate at Wonderlove.[1]
