Haldia subdivision is a subdivision of the Purba Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Haldia municipality and five community development blocks: Mahisadal, Nandigram–I, Nandigram–II, Sutahata and Haldia. The five blocks contain 38 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Haldia.

Area

Apart from the Haldia municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 38 gram panchayats under five community development blocks: Mahisadal, Nandigram–I, Nandigram–II, Sutahata and Haldia.[1] There is no urban area under these five blocks.[2]

Blocks

Mahisadal Block

Rural area under Mahisadal block consists obf 11 gram panchayats, viz. Amritaberia, Itamogra–I, Laksha–I, Natshal–I, Betkundu, Itamogra–II, Laksha–II, Satish Samanta, Garh Kamalpur, Kismat Naikundi and Natshal–I.[1] Mahisadal and Nandakumar police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Rangibasan.[4]

Nandigram–I block

Rural area under Nandigram–I block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Daudpur, Kalicharanpur, Nandigram, Bhakutia, Gokulnagar, Kendumari Jalpai, Samsabad, Haripur, Mahammadpur and Sonachura.[1] Nandigram police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Nandigram.[4]

Nandigram–II block

Rural area under Nandigram–II block consists of seven gram panchayats, viz. Amdabad–I, Birulia, Boyal–II, Khodambari–II, Amdabad–II, Boyal–I and Khodambari–I.[1] Nandigram police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Riapara.[4]

Sutahata block

Rural area under Sutahata block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Ashadtalia, Guaberia, Joynagar, Chaitanyapur, Horkhali and Kukrahati.[1] Sutahata and Bhabanipur police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Sutahata.[4]

Haldia block

Rural area under Haldia block consists of four gram panchayats, viz. Baruttarhingli, Deulpota, Chakdwipa and Devog.[1] Sutahata, Bhabanipur and Haldia police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Haldia.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).

  • The area under the Haldia municipality and the Sutahata block will together form the Haldia assembly constituency of West Bengal.
  • The area under Haldia block and the Mahisadal block will form the Mahisadal assembly constituency.
  • The Nandigram–I block and the Nandigram–II block will together form the area defining the Nandigram assembly constituency.
  • The Haldia constituency will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates.
  • All the three constituencies will be assembly segments of the Tamluk (Lok Sabha constituency).
