American singer Lady Gaga has embarked on five concert tours and performed live at various award ceremonies and television shows. Gaga promoted her debut single "Just Dance" through performances at several award ceremonies and television shows, including Miss Universe 2008 and So You Think You Can Dance. She first served as an opening act for the boy band New Kids on the Block and the girl group The Pussycat Dolls,[1] before beginning her own headlining tour, The Fame Ball Tour, which began in March 2009 and ended in September 2009. Following the canceled tour Fame Kills: Starring Kanye West and Lady Gaga with rapper Kanye West,[2] Gaga embarked on her second worldwide concert tour, The Monster Ball Tour. Staged in support of her extended play The Fame Monster (2009), the tour was critically acclaimed and grossed $227.4 million, making it one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time. Gaga also performed songs from the album at award ceremonies—the American Music Awards of 2009, 52nd Annual Grammy Awards and 2010 Brit Awards. At the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards, Gaga won the Breakthrough Performer Award, as well as the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award.
Gaga's second studio album Born This Way released the eponymous lead single, which she first performed at the 53rd Grammy Awards, where she emerged from an egg-like vessel.[3] She also performed the album's track "You and I" at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, appearing as her male alter ego Jo Calderone. To promote the album, Gaga began the Born This Way Ball, which was critically and commercially successful but controversial among several religious groups who viewed the tour as satanic and against religious values. Gaga canceled some of the remaining tour dates due to a hip injury that required surgery. At the 2012 Billboard Touring Awards, she won the award for Eventful Fan's Choice Award for Best Tour of the Year.
Gaga performed songs from her third studio album Artpop (2013) at ArtRave, a two-day event hosted by her to promote the album. In 2014, she headlined her first residency show, with seven shows at the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan, New York. Later that year, she began the ArtRave: The Artpop Ball, whose main idea was to create an immersive rave. The tour received a positive response from reviewers, but some criticized it for being disjointed. After the release of her collaborative album with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek (2014), the duo embarked on their Cheek to Cheek Tour, which began in December 2014 and concluded in August 2015. The tour was critically acclaimed, and topped Vulture's list of 10 best concerts of 2015. In 2015, she received her third Billboard Music Award for Top Touring Artist nomination; she was also nominated in 2011 and 2013.[4]
Gaga performed a tribute to The Sound of Music at the 87th Academy Awards, where she sang a medley of songs from the film's soundtrack. The performance was considered one of her best by Billboard, and triggered over 214,000 interactions per minute globally on the social networking site Facebook.[5][6] In 2015, Gaga released the song "Til It Happens to You", which she performed at the 2015 Billboard Women in Music, Producers Guild of America Awards 2015 and 88th Academy Awards. In 2016, she sang the US national anthem at Super Bowl 50, teamed with Intel and Nile Rodgers to perform a tribute to late David Bowie at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards and performed "Million Reasons" at the American Music Awards of 2016. To promote her fifth studio album, Joanne, Gaga embarked on a 3-date tour, called Dive Bar Tour. She also performed as the headlining act at the Super Bowl LI halftime show on February 5, 2017.

The Fame Ball Tour, Gaga's debut concert tour, promoted her first album The Fame (2008).[7] Gaga described the tour as a traveling museum show incorporating artist Andy Warhol's pop-performance art concept.[8] Gaga planned the tour while serving as opening act for The Pussycat Dolls.[9] The tour was well received by critics who praised her vocal clarity, fashion sense and ability to pull off theatrics like a professional artist.[10][11] | |||||||||||||
