This is a list of countries by total road network size, both paved and unpaved.

Length of expressways are also included. Expressway, a type of highways designed for high-speed vehicular traffic with controlled-access, free of signals, delicated right of way, without any at-grade intersections or any crossings except the terminus of a expressway.
